1923 Ford model T touring car..(Note plates are CT 1925 ,are not included) Rehabilitated in the 50's. Ran off and on till the early 60's and stored till 4 years ago. It was easily made run-able and used till about year and a half ago., It performed well.
This car was originally built as a basic magneto non battery and starter car. A long the way(previous to me) a starter was added and spare tire carrier plus a,4 dip oil pan-crank case, I added a proper original generator and battery frame bracket to replace a home made one. The 2 dash oil lamps used on non battery- starter cars remain.
The block serial number dates about 1923 and is a " MADEI N CANADA" casting.
The car has not been restored to any degree, just repaired ,rebuilt and touched up as required to keep as a good old driver and usable in recent history. Really Just cleaned up here and there to preserve what is there.
The engine has seen work previously and presently is out and apart for some overhauling. Pistons are low milage and aluminum .030 oversize with newer re-babbitted match weighted, dippered rods which all appear fine and reusable shape. and were in the engine. Valves seats are now worn, plus ear main crank bearing thrust is worn out and center main cap in has started a edge split. So fitting all new main caps may just do as the upper block bearings appear just fine plus a good valve job was my plan.
Transmission was working nicely and is still intact, Generator was rebuilt and a set of stock ignition coils. Front axle and spring assembly rebuilt and not driven on yet and toe- in should be checked when the engine weight is back...The rear axle assembly and spring were overhauled well shortly after I acquired the car, ..Tires are 3-1/2" x 30 all around ,are older rubber with lots of tread.. Spare is new and match the rear tyers. Wheels were cleaned down and hand painted ,
Upholstery is 1950's and popped some buttons along the way (old plastic buttons with molded in loops and the loops broke out.)Door panels are tired and original. Body wood very good.
The under side of car has been extensively hand ,pneumatic wire wheel tool and scraped cleaned primed and painted old school.(mostly neatly with a brush)..75% of the body has had the old 50's paint chemically stripped off to bright metal , some glazing of imperfections(minor wave or ping and old bumps and bruises worked over and painted a shop coat of satin black. This included Front fenders, radiator shell, head lamps, hood shelves, hood, windshield parts, dash board, dash lamps, body as far back as rear doors...Back bucket quarters and rear panel and rear fenders and aprons are still old 50's black lacquer with some rust spotting blisters. Top irons are complete ,good shape with some broken wood bows and mega tack holes.
There is no title required in Connecticut for such cars so one is not available. .You get a Connecticut DMV bill of sale plus hand written bill of sale only. So don't ask about any title business.
You get all the parts I have for this one car, that belong to it...An extra core generator or starter parts etc .that may be.in pictures are not included . You just get the good ones for the car.LOL!
If there is no interest for a price and since I've just run out gas with these wonderful Model T's after 38 years , I'm open to trade for several things .
Of most interest is an unrestored /restorable most complete 1920's 4 cylinder Dodge Touring car or Maxwell 1922-25 Touring car .Though I'm open to other pre `1931 touring cars. Even an open Essex 4 or 6 banger LOL!
Its a stretch but a Model A '28-'31 4 door Phaeton ,probably in very tired unrestored shape or decent basket case project is always on top of the my list. Maybe a nice intact 1928-31 Ford tudor may give me the break I need ?
If you car Is much ragger, rougher than mine some cash my way, may be in order?
Winner to pay a non refundable $500. deposit after auction close within 24 hours...Balance paid in CASH ONLY at pick up...Car can be safely garage kept for no more than 2 weeks with no responsibility taken or assumed for any loss or damage , the car is subject to resale after 2 weeks if you fail to pay the balance and make other arrangements so don't keep me un-informed and out of the loop if your having any trouble getting your act together as far as picking the car up.If an extension Is needed we'll work on it.
Winner is completely responsible for paying and making arrangements for removal and transport. I'm on hand for going through loose parts and to help out but no co-ordination of the loading up of car and packing of parts as the manager or supply such things straps ,tie downs , chains, rope ,blocks ,boxing and crates, padding, blankets and wire.

Ford to revisit CVTs?
Thu, Dec 11 2014Today, Ford wishes its first experience with non-hybrid continuously variable transmissions was far behind it. The Blue Oval was awash in complaints and a couple of class-action lawsuits over the CVTs used in its 2005-2007 Ford Freestyle, Five Hundred and Mercury Montego models, which were a manufactured in Batavia, Ohio as part of a joint venture with ZF. The company gave up on the CVT after just two years, but with fuel economy standards pressing automakers to conjure new tricks, Ford's global product development head, Raj Nair, is now saying the transmissions might make a return, "particularly in the low torque applications," says Automotive News. An obvious candidate for CVT consideration is the 1.0-liter Fiesta that can presently only be had with a five-speed manual. Beyond that, the company's 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines might fit the bill. Ford hasn't given any indication as to what vehicles it might use to reintroduce the CVT to the US market, or hints about timeline or who would develop it, however. Some CVT trivia: The 1990 Subaru Justy II was the first US passenger car offered with a continuously variable transmission - Subaru called it the ECVT. It handled gearing duties for a 1.2-liter, inline three-cylinder engine that got all of 70 horsepower. A contemporary blurb about the car begins with "Goodness, gracious, great gobs of gimmickry," and goes on to say that "We can't imagine where you would take this car for repairs, but we are certain that the one mechanic in the world who can fix it lives in a very expensive house." The transmission didn't win any fans, but the ECVT and the car have been largely forgotten, while Subaru played the long game and now you'll find its vastly improved Lineartronic CVT on six of the eight models it sells.
Ford hiring 2,200 salaried US workers this year
Fri, 11 Jan 2013With its influx of popular new products made in the US, Ford Motor Company has announced that it intends to hire 2,200 new salaried workers domestically this year. This is the biggest increase of salaried workers for Ford in the last 10 years, and it is all a part of Ford's contract commitment to the United Auto Workers union to bring 12,000 new jobs to the US by 2015.
There were no specifics as to where in the US these job openings will be, but Ford did reiterate that it will be spending $773 million on equipment upgrades and capacity expansion at six plants located in southeast Michigan; as a whole, Ford is investing a total of $6.2 billion to its US assembly plants over the next couple years. According to recently appointed president of the Americas Joe Hinrichs, the new jobs will be focused on areas such as engineering, manufacturing and computer software. Ford will post its job openings online at careers.ford.com, and it will also use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to recruit new workers, including military veterans.

Ford and GM link bonus checks to quality scores
Tue, 29 Apr 2014The poor first quarter earnings of Ford and General Motors are having an effect all the way up the food chain. Both automakers struggled with recalls in the first three months of the year, and, according to The Detroit News, they have responded by increasing the percentage of bonuses tied to vehicle quality for salaried workers, including top executives.
GM announced that 25 percent of bonuses (up from 10 percent) for all salaried workers would be tied to its vehicle quality standards. The automaker revealed in its financial report that it spent $1.3 billion on recall-related repairs in the first quarter, and net income was down 86 percent.
Ford also increased the quality proportion of bonuses for about 26,000 salaried workers all the way up to CEO Alan Mulally from 10 percent to 20 percent. The company announced in its report that the amount paid out in warranty and recall claims was about $400 million higher than expected in the first quarter. Its net income fell 39 percent from the previous year. "The change reflects how critical quality is to our overall business," said spokesperson Todd Nissen speaking to Autoblog.
