My Great Grandfather purchased this car in the 30’s and used the drive train to power an irrigation pump. Since no one threw anything away back then, my Grandfather in the 60’s, decided to restore some of the Model T’s they had stored on the farm. He finished a ’26 doctor’s coupe and then as a Grandfather Grandson project we started this 1915 touring car in 1976, I was 14. We got the drive train together and running just before he became ill. He told me the car was mine and to please finish it. Okay, so just like my ancestors, I never got rid of the car, and in 2006 I felt that my skills were now good enough to do the car justice and to keep my promise. It has been 6 years since I finished the restoration and I have really enjoyed owning it for the last 38 years but, it is time to sell so I can restore something else. I’ve asked all of my relatives if they would like to buy it so it can stay in the family, but no one came forward, so now I am offering it to the public. During the restoration I made many mechanical improvements to make the car more driveable and reliable. Here is a list from stem to stern. -Modern front crankshaft oil seal -water pump -forged steel counter balanced crankshaft -domed high compression aluminum pistons with modern style rings -connecting rods drilled and X’ed for oil scoops -Oil delivery tube to front main bearing -electronic ignition integrated into the original commentator and coil box -converted to 12 volt system with voltage regulator, magneto is now used to charge the battery and power the lights -engine has been balanced -kevlar transmission bands -jackrabbit clutch -4th main bearing converted to ball bearing -Needle roller bearing U-joint -Tapered roller bearings for the pinion gear -Needle roller thrust bearings for the differential carriage -linings on the emergency brake shoes -All of the castings and iron on the car are powder coat painted including the frame and the engine -all of the sheet metal parts are painted single stage acrylic urethane, PPG Deltron 9000, color sanded and polished -My Grandfather had drawings of all of the wood for the body that he had acquired long ago, which I still had and used to create the frame work in white oak. All of the wood work has 4 coats of spar varnish. The fenders are steel reproductions and the hood is an aluminum reproduction. -The wheels are not original to the car but they are old and the correct size. Original 1915 wheels, the wood feral is chamfered around the edges, mine are square. -Each wheel was taken apart, sanded and soaked in linseed oil for 2 weeks before also finished with 4 coats of spar varnish -I used a number of reference books to ensure the correct parts went into the restoration but “Model T Ford, The Car That Changed the World” by Bruce W. McCalley was my primary source of information. -When I finished the restoration, I had to get a “certified Model T specialist” to sign an affidavit that the car was essentially authentic (the local Model T club was a big help with this one!), Before the state of Nebraska would issue me a title with a 17 digit number. -All of the brass is solid no plating and original to 1915, except for the radiator, it is a reproduction. -Some of the unique parts only found on 1915 or end with 1915 are: -forked electric head lights -Aluminum transmission hogs head -ribbed clutch, reverse and brake pedals -brass steering wheel spider -tapered drive shaft torque tube -rear axle without gussets Since completing the restoration the car has traveled just 92 miles, enough to get all of the bugs worked out of it. It is in excellent condition inside and out. The underside of the car looks as good as the top side. The car starts easily, usually on the second pull and runs nice with little vibration due to the counter balanced crankshaft. It does not over heat in any weather and is ready for show, parades or touring. The speedometer does run slow, when it says 25 mph, actually going 32 mph. Maybe a larger speedometer drive gear? -The car also includes the complete tool kit, side curtains, folded top cover, un-restored brass tire pump car cover and service manual. I require $500 at the end of the auction and the remainder before the car changes hands. I can help with shipping the car, but the buyer is responsible for making the arrangements and shipping costs. |

Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and EV Buyer's Guide: Which one do you want?
Fri, Nov 10 2017If you're shopping for a new vehicle these days, there's a litany of acronyms, buzzwords, and technobabble to further complicate an already difficult decision. But if you're looking at a green powertrain, you have three basic choices to compare: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and "EV" or, electric vehicle. So what are they and which one — if any — is right for you? Research your next new vehicle using Autoblog's Car Finder. Gasoline-Electric Hybrids By now, most people are familiar with the concept of a hybrid car. Thank Toyota's Prius for that. At its most basic, a hybrid vehicle has two powertrains, one gasoline and one electric, which work together for maximum efficiency. At low speeds, the engine can shut off entirely, relying solely on the battery for propulsion. The battery is either charged as you drive by converting kinetic energy into potential energy via a complex regenerative braking system, or directly off of the gas motor. This is a very hands-off, behind-the-scenes system as all the driver has to is put in gas and drive as normal. Hybrids come in all shapes and sizes and, according to the EPA, range in fuel economy from 58 mpg for the Hyundai Ioniq Blue all the way down to 13 mpg for the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta. Best For: Anyone who want to see their fuel consumption go down without many sacrifices. You can easily find a hybrid sedan, hatchback, crossover, SUV or even a pickup truck (i f you can find one). Best of all, a hybrid requires no special equipment to be installed at home, or added work for the driver. Hybrids do cost more than traditionally-powered competitors, so make sure to compare projected fuel savings with how much extra a hybrid will cost – it may take a surprisingly long time to break even. Armed with a much larger battery pack than a hybrid, PHEVs can go between 12 ( Mercedes-Benz GLE550e) and 97 ( BMW i3 w/Range Extender) miles on electricity alone depending on the model and your driving style. Like a normal hybrid, the driver is largely unaware of which power source is currently in use, even as they switch over — either because the battery is drained, or the driving circumstances require more power.
2020 Harley-Davidson GMC Sierra brings the iconic brand to a new truck
Sat, Jan 11 2020The Harley-Davidson Ford F-150 rides alone no longer. Thanks to the Tuscany Motor Company, it now has a fellow truck associate to cruise with side-by-side on the open roads. Introducing the 2020 Harley-Davidson GMC Sierra, which will make its official debut at the 2020 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. For years, a Harley-Davidson special edition package has been associated with the Ford F-150 nameplate. Although Ford does not offer a direct option from the factory, Tuscany Motor Company answered the demand and now builds truck packages that carry the famous American motorcycle name. With the direction of Harley-Davidson, Tuscany creates interior and exterior customizations that reflect notable and iconic features of the bikes. This year is the first time Tuscany has ever offered a Harley-Davidson package on a GMC Sierra, and as expected, it's pretty similar to the one offered on the F-150. The package includes at least 60 exclusive parts, and the Sierra is available in Onxy Black, Summit White, or Satin Steel Metallic. Setting the tone are Fatboy-inspired 22-inch milled aluminum wheels wrapped in chunky 35-inch all-terrain tires. As Tuscany is a division of Fox performance parts, the truck rides on a specially designed BDS suspension with tuned Fox shocks and lateral stability bars. GM, Ford and Fiat Chrysler set target date for restarting production
Tue, Apr 28 2020The parking lot stands empty at Fiat Chrysler's sprawling Belvidere, Ill., assembly plant. / Getty Images  General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are targeting May 18 to resume some production at their U.S. factories after shutting down plants in March due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Wall Street Journal reported. Executives from the companies in recent days tentatively settled on the timeline following talks with United Auto Workers (UAW) leaders and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's office, the Journal said on Monday, citing people familiar with the plans. The head of the UAW union last week warned it was "too soon and too risky" to reopen auto plants and Michigan's economy in early May, citing risks to workers. The companies are working with the union on drawing up safety protocols for reducing exposure risk for workers, but haven't finalized those terms yet, according to the WSJ report.
