As mentioned, this is THE Viva Las Vegas Car and we are selling it to make way for a new one. I have done my best to list as much as possible but please feel free to contact us with any further questions. Let me start by saying there is very little of this car that is 1932. I believe there is one part of the chassis that enables it to be registered as 1932. Please note that the license plates are 1932 plates and are registered to the car.

Lets start with the body. This is a fibreglass body with a steel hood. The fenders are also fibreglass. It is all painted gloss black. Please note that there are slight scuff marks on the body work but no damage. It has been on display at various events and has been photographed with thousands of people. The VIVA LAS VEGAS logo is painted on the doors. It is not a sticker or anything. The logo will still be on the car when you buy it. The interior has been reupholstered as you can see in the photos. It has a vintage style dash and all of the gauges are modern vintage looking gauges that all work. Although I would not trust the gas gauge too much. The steering wheel and column are a modern vintage look from Limeworks. Hidden under the dash and out of view are speakers for the sound system and a cigarette lighter socket. The sound system is a CD/radio that is in the trunk. It has a remote control to operate it and also has an iPhone hook up by the seat. The car has seat belts for 3. These can be tucked away out of sight for display.

The chassis is a reproduction chassis. It has a Mustang front end with disc brakes at the front. The rear end has drum brakes. Coil spring suspension all around. Tires are in good shape and have plenty of tread.

The engine is a 350 V8 with automatic transmission. The car is fast as it weighs so little. The motor does not seem to have a choke so if it has not been used for a while it takes a few turns to start it up.Once running it runs great. The motor has an automatic electric fan and an expansion tank. There is a slight oil leak from the engine.

The brakes are NOT power brakes so you need to push a bit harder than in a modern car.

As the car is light you can easily wheel spin.

The electrics in the car work well and the battery charges well. It has brake lights but NO TURN SIGNALS. Lights all work well. Dashboard lights up. There is a disconnect switch in the trunk. The trunk lid opener is behind the seat. The car comes with a cover to go over the cab but not a roof.

I am proud of my Ebay feedback rating so I am going to list here a few things that are not quite 100% on the car.
Some of the interior trim needs re attaching.
Passenger door latch spring needs replacing. The door still closes properly.
Slight oil leak from engine.
Takes a few turns to start sometimes as there is no choke.
Fuel gauge not accurate.
Body has some scuffs and marks on it.
Personally I would like stronger brakes and considered converting to power brakes.
On the steering wheel part of the black coating has peeled off.
The gear indicator is not accurate but is easy to get used to.

I have listed as much as I can think of. I will welcome any inspection. If you want me to email you photos of any parts of the car I can do that also. I want you to be happy with your purchase and make sure that you are informed about everything to do with the car.

The car has a clear title and is currently registered in California. It  is sold with NO WARRANTY. If you are interested, I urge you to find the time to come and look at the car before bidding. We are in Los Alamitos in California (near Long Beach).

Ford C-Max Commercial Brings Cadillac 'Poolside' Ad Down To Earth

Thu, Mar 27 2014

If we had tried to predict the first video response to the controversial Poolside video for the Cadillac ELR, we would not have thought it would center on compost. But, hey, it's always nice to be reminded that the real world is sometimes better than fiction. Instead of the chic swagger of 'Poolside,' 'Anything Is Possible' is all about getting dirty. The new short in question is called Upside: Anything Is Possible and it promotes two things: Detroit Dirt and the Ford C-Max Energi. As in the ELR ad, Ford's plug-in C-Max only makes an appearance at the tail end of the spot, but instead of the chic swagger of Poolside, Anything Is Possible is all about getting dirty. The ad stars Pashon Murray, co-founder of Detroit Dirt, which takes natural waste from around Detroit, composts it into soil and then spreads that around "forgotten parcels" of Detroit to create urban farms. Detroit Dirt gets its bio-waste from a lot of sources, including the Detroit Zoological Society (all that herbivore manure has to go somewhere), Ford and General Motors, but this particular ad was the idea of Ford's PR agency, Team Detroit. It was a frenetic shoot, filmed with an LA-based director right after a big winter storm blew through Detroit, and Murray couldn't be happier with the result. "This was Ford Motor Company pushing my story, letting me tell the story that I believe in," Murray tells AutoblogGreen. "I get to help push this car and I get to tell my story." She says that the Team Detroit and Ford had to agree on the message, "from my understanding, [YouTube] is where they wanted to start, not where they wanted to finish." The ad is already getting a positive response on Twitter, so we won't be surprised if it shows up in more places soon. "It's not saying Ford is better than GM. It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." As Detroit Dirt has off-screen support from both GM and Ford, it's unsurprising to hear Murray say that the video "is not a rivalry thing." She notes that the ad agency Team Detroit came to her and offered to tell the Detroit Dirt story using the framework of the GM ad. "It's a parody on this commercial, but it's not saying Ford is better than GM," she said. "It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." What is that story? It's about urban farming, recovery and recycling. Murray tells us that for the last seven or eight years, she's been dedicated to sustainability.

UK's Loughborough University improving Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine

Wed, May 21 2014

How much does it cost for college students to study zero emissions vehicles? At Loughborough University in the UK, a new Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) is being built at a cost of a billion pounds ($1.7 billion US). The school has just announce that it will fund a number of grad student positions and is creating a new Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, which sounds like a fun job to us. We're weird like that. There will be a total of four professor-type positions in the new Center, including the chair, all focused on teaching students about low-carbon vehicle technologies, specifically electric and hybrid ones. The school is investing 1.5 million pounds ($2.5 million) for the new positions. There is a bigger picture as well, a 26-million pound ($44 million) Advanced Combustion Turbocharged Integrated Variable-valvetrain Engine (ACTIVE) project, which uses funds not only from the school but also from Ford and others. The point of ACTIVE is to study Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and "improve further its efficiency and ensure it exceeds 2020 emission regulations." This is already a popular engine for the automaker, and it will need to stay at the bleeding edge of efficiency to remain as important in 2020 as it is today. Loughborough University has been working with automakers on advanced energy technologies for years, for example with Rolls-Royce and fuel cells in 2007 and the Lotus Hotfire engine in 2008. University invests GBP1.5M in advanced propulsion research to advance zero emissions vehicles challenge Loughborough University is investing GBP1.5M over five years in strategic research appointments, inspired by the global challenge to develop the new advanced propulsion technologies required for the move to zero emission vehicles. These appointments reinforce the University's world-class research in low-carbon vehicle technologies, adding new dimensions concerned with electric and hybrid drives. Four appointments will be made, including a Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, supported by a number of PhD studentships. The GBP1.5M investment is part of the University's commitment to the recently announced Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) to support the development of new supply chains for low carbon vehicles. APC is an initiative established by the Automotive Council that will see GBP1 billion of investment from government and industry over the next 10 years.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.
