1930 Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster Fully Restored on 2040-cars
Sayville, New York, United States
1930 Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster. Complete nut and bolt restoration completed in 2004. The restoration was done to specifications even higher than when it was first produced, but retains a 100% factory original look. Restoration was done by a Smithtown, NY family for themselves with a long history in the restoration business. They restored the car to keep, but unfortunately illness eventually forced them to sell.
There was no expense spared when restoring this Model A. The car is all original Ford steel, no reproduction panels were used. The crankshaft was blueprinted/balanced to reduce the typical vibration when the engine's running. The water pump was machined out for bearings instead of the original bushings to prevent the typical coolant leaks plaguing all Model A's. The bearings are completely invisible from the exterior so it doesn't detract from the 100% factory original look. The top and interior are from Lebarron Bonney, the foremost authority in Model A interiors/tops. The bumpers are reproduction, but better than original in all stainless steel. The car has dual sidemounts. Since it's completion in 2004, it has logged just over 1400 miles. The car was primarily used to drive to local shows, sunday afternoon drives etc and has a great patina now. It still looks like a very fresh restoration, considering it's been 10 years since completion, but has been driven and carefully enjoyed. I have owned it for over a year and half now, but the rumble seat is getting a little tight to fit my kids in now. This car has no needs/issues and is ready for the next owner to drive and enjoy. The car runs/drives as good as it looks and I encourage you to take a look in person before the auction ends. It is located in my climate controlled garage in Sayville, NY. |

Jay Leno is far beyond driven in his 1971 Pantera
Mon, 23 Jun 2014Perhaps it's fitting that the band Pantera is known for its heavy metal music, because the DeTomaso Pantera is the automotive equivalent of a metal album. It's short, aggressive and makes a mean sound. It doesn't mess around either, with a Ford 351-cubic-inch (5.75-liter) V8 sending mountains of torque to the rear wheels. This week, Jay Leno takes us on a detailed tour of his '71 to show why it rocks.
There's a regular format to Jay Leno's Garage. It starts with Jay and maybe a guest taking a look at the car and talking about its history, and then they take it out on the open road. However, this video is practically a Pantera buyer's guide. Jay is adamant from the start that the last thing anyone should own is a stock example. To remedy this, he and his guest, the editor of the Pantera Club magazine, take viewers to school about some of the ways to turn them into even better performance machines.
No matter what you do to it, though, the Pantera requires that the driver adapt to it, not the other way around. For example, Jay isn't a big guy by most standards, but he has to cram himself into the cockpit with his shoes off and shirt partially unbuttoned just to go for a drive. Still, once out on the road, it all makes sense with that rumbling V8 and those Italian supercar looks. Scroll down to watch and learn a lot more about this uncompromising '70s performance car.
Hear the 2015 Mustang GT V8 roar for the first time
Wed, 26 Jun 2013Our combined knowledge of the 2015 Ford Mustang continues to deepen, as spy shooters have begun to compile video and audio of the upcoming sixth-generation car.
Case in point is this latest series of video clips, which not only gives us a great vantage point of the Mustang in motion, but also allows us to hear the Ford V8 engine and exhaust. After perusing the aural delights of this short video, which, admittedly, doesn't catch the Mustang GT at full song, we can at least say that the throaty exhaust isn't disappointing.
Chances are good that the 2015 Mustang GT will debut with some version of the current (and excellent) Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine, though we're unclear as to whether or not the motor has been massaged for its next-gen debut, or what may have been done to exhaust plumbing. At this point, we're just happy to hear the pony run. Scroll below to hear for yourself.
Ford builds USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang for charity
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Each year since 2008, Ford has created a one-off Mustang to celebrate military aviation, and the cars have been auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Gathering of Eagles charity event to raise money to inspire the next generation of aviators. This year's charity car is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, which also helps celebrate 60 years of Thunderbirds air show excellence.
Of all the EAA charity cars, this Thunderbirds Edition is the most in depth. Painted to match the F-16 Tomcat fighter jets used by Thunderbirds, this Mustang also gets a widebody kit and 22-inch Forgiato wheels to go with the cockpit's Recaro bucket seats, rear-seat delete and modified navigation screen and gauge cluster. Even the Mustang's projector puddle lights have been changed to show an aircraft silhouette - rather than the Mustang's galloping horse logo - when the doors are open.
Themes for previous EAA charity cars include the Blue Angels, SR-71 Blackbird and the Red Tails as well as the F-22 Raptor-inspired AV8R and AV-X10 "Dearborn Doll" models. Scroll down for the press release for the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, and be sure to check out our galleries for all six aviation-themed Mustangs.
