Thank you for your interest and welcome to my auction for this very rare 1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Convertible!

1961 Was a very distinct year for the Sunliner as it showcased the new signature round Ford taillights and last year of the mini-fins. In fact, these cars are so sought after Hagerty values a condition 1, 1961 Ford Sunliner Convertible with the at nearly $70K!!

Now, this is not a condition 1 car, however, it makes an excellent candidate for a full restoration project for those looking to put the time and money the car deserves and still see a return on investment if needed.  And for those who want a weekend cruiser for your local car shows or simply drop the top on beautiful days...well this is a perfect candidate as well.

This particular car has little things that make it quite unique and add to it's collectible value. It is so hard to find a 53 year old car with it's original keys! It has the original owners manual! It's also a 'X' Code Sunliner, meaning it came with a 352ci V8 from factory. Included in the sale are original Ford Galaxie/Sunliner advertisements and brochures (see photos).

The Sunliner was the high-end model for the Galaxie line up and featured many upgrades such as: Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Top, A/C, and radio. All but a/c and radio are working on this car.

As mentioned this car is a daily driver. The complete drivetrain including the motor, automatic transmission and rear end are in perfect working order. The interior shows very well, but does have wear and tear, such as the carpet, driver door panel and random interior finishes. The car does have a brand new top (no leaks). The exterior also shows well, but the car does need a paint job. It has fading in several spots. The car is not 100% rust free. Some rust is found on lower door panels and in the top of the trunk where it meets the convertible top (see photos). However, to my knowledge there is no chrome trims or moldings missing on the car (great news for those looking to restore). Several different parts, trims, moldings etc. are included in the sale (see photos). All main exterior lights are in working order, Wipers work, speedometer and odometer work.

I have included as many photos possible to assist in our description. However, if you require additional photos and/or have any questions please feel free to contact me, Gaston via message or call/text (786) 486-7746.

I encourage you ask all questions before committing to buy, do not assume anything that may not be listed. This is an AS-IS sale. International buyers are welcome.

If you need shipping quotes please feel free to call me, I will be more than happy to coordinate all your shipping needs (at buyers expense).

Thanks again for viewing, enjoy the video and be sure to allow all 70+ photos to download (photos have their own scroll bar be sure to see all)

Happy Bidding!

Fields 'required' to use private aircraft, could make $5.25M as Ford CEO this year

Thu, 03 Jul 2014

Mark Fields' travels on the friendly skies will soon be a relatively personal affair, as the new CEO at Ford will be required to resume air travel via the company's private planes. Fields caught plenty of flak in 2007 for flying on the company's dime to visit his family in Florida. He's since flown commercial.
According to Ford spokesperson Susan Krusel, who spoke to Bloomberg, Fields (pictured above right, with Bill Ford, Jr. at center and Alan Mulally at left) will switch to private travel "for safety and to maximize his availability for company business." In addition to his new travel arrangements, the 53-year-old exec's salary and bonuses have been revealed.
Regulatory filings by Ford revealed that Fields, whose first day in the big chair was July 1, will receive a base salary this year of $1.25 million and he'll be eligible for $3.5 million in bonuses, both of which are lower than Alan Mulally's $2 million salary and $5.88 million in bonuses received last year. That's also lower than General Motors CEO Mary Barra's alleged $1.6-million salary and considerably less than Sergio Marchionne's $3.19-million fixed salary from Fiat. Despite falling short of other CEOs, Fields' new pay still represents a 33-percent increase over his pay as Chief Operating Officer.

Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic

Mon, Oct 24 2016

Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. 1914 Ford Model T at Historic Greenfield Village | AutoblogVR

Tue, Sep 6 2016

We drive all of the newest and most sophisticated cars, but a 102-year-old Ford is one of our recent favorites. Senior Editor Alex Kierstein headed to historic Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI, to learn to drive a Model T in the latest AutoblogVR segment. Kierstein picks up the Model T fairly quickly, despite its controls. Though they were designed more than a century ago to be simple and easy to use, driving a Model T is complicated and counter-intuitive to the modern motorist. But by the end of his lesson, Kierstein has it all figured out and is enjoying himself. In our other new segment, Detroit Manufacturing, Senior Editor Greg Migliore showcases the city''s industrial might. He tours a modern Fiat Chrysler factory that churns out Dodge Durangos and Jeep Grand Cherokees and then wanders the ruins of the mythical Packard Plant. There's also some tasty and unexpected twists in this VR episode. Each week, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll preview them here on Autoblog, but for the full immersive experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play.
