The condition of the exterior, interior and engine can vary depending on the vehicle's history. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"The body of this 48 year old vehicle is in good condition with only minor surface rust. The existing original chrome will need a good cleaning and polish. The two chrome rocker moldings are missing and could not be found in the storage building. It appears that the vehicle has been repainted from white to the blue color it now sports, this will need a repaint at some point in time but is useable as-is. The interior carpeting needs a thorough cleaning and re-dye. The leather bench seats (front and back) have one split in the stitching but the leather is otherwise in good condition. The door panels and head liner are in fair condition. The convertible top is in good condition, but needs some attention. The only item that seems not to be original are the rims and radio. Please keep in mind that this is a 48 year old car."

The vehicle is a true barn find. This 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible sports a manual transmission with three on the tree. It is a 48 year old vehicle pretty much unmolested. The only items that were changed would be the rims on the car and the radio. The Rims are a turbine style wheel. The previous owner installed a cassette player in place of the radio.

The vehicle and it's 289 CI V8 engine starts, runs, drives and tracks down the road very nice. The three speed operates cleanly with no grinding as the clutch is tight and sound. The motor does not smoke or sputter.

The car sports blue paint which is somewhat faded but it is drivable in this condition. It appears that the vehicle has had one repaint from the original white. There is minor surface rust on the vehicle's body but absolutely NO RUST THROUGH.

All chrome with the exception of the rocker chrome is in place and in pretty nice condition. This could use a good cleaning and buffing.

All windows operate as designed with the glass being in excellent condition. The doors, deck lid and hood open and close tight with proper reveals. Weather-stripping on the doors needs replaced.

The convertible top is electronic and operates flawlessly storing neatly with a boot to cover the storage area. The top could use some repairs on the seams as the stitching has come undone in two spots. The top is very salvageable. The back glass in the convertible top is PPG labeled and is excellent.

The electronic on the vehicle work including the interior lighting, as does the heat and defrost.  The interior is in good condition with black leather seating. Again, one of the seam stitching has come undone but the leather is in great condition and pliable and can be easily repaired.

The black carpeting needs a good cleaning and maybe a re-dye. There are cracks in the dash and the steering wheel and is showing its age. The dash may need replaced but the steering wheel is definitely useable. All knobs and handles are in place and original.

The floor boards are solid as is the frame and trunk pan. The trunk pan does have surface rust. There is some rust through at the panel along the lip of the trunk pan. All locks on the vehicle operate with no issues. This is a great vehicle to tool around in with the top down. And if you chose to restore the car it won't take long as overall the car is in great condition.

I have posted this car for a family member. It is not owned by me. This car has a clear Pennsylvania title.

I have detailed the car as I see it and attempted to describe it with its attributes and flaws. Please stop by and see this car in person.

Thanks for looking and happy bidding!

How the Ram Multifunction Tailgate compares to Ford, GMC, Honda

Wed, Feb 6 2019

Ram just announced its Multifunction Tailgate — a descriptive if not very creative name. It's an asymmetrical barn-door arrangement, which can both fold down like a conventional tailgate or swing open like a gate. There's a new bed step, but unlike Ford or GM, the step isn't part of the tailgate itself. Rather, it kicks out from under the bumper (as opposed to out from under the driver's side of the rear bumper in its previous incarnation). So let's just focus on the tailgate functionality. A video of the Ram Multifunction Tailgate in action is above. For one, either of the swinging tailgate sections can be opened independently. They open to a full 88 degrees. In conventional flip-down mode, the tailgate works just like a normal one, too, with a 2,000-pound rating. The bottom line is that while it gives a variety of types of access to the load area, it doesn't "do" anything else. It's a $995 option on any Ram 1500. Its closest analogue is the Honda Ridgeline, which works basically the same way, but on that truck the tailgate swings as one piece. And the Honda's load rating isn't as hefty as the Ram's tailgate: 300 pounds. As Honda says, that's sufficient to hold the weight of the part of an ATV hanging out of the bed, or something similar, but it's a lighter-duty unit (and a lighter-duty truck) than the Ram's overall. Let's also get Ford's one-trick tailgate out of the way before comparing to the more analogous, and complicated, GM MultiPro. A bit of trivia: Ford's optional Tailgate Step is actually designed and supplied by Multimatic, better known as the outfit that builds the Ford GT and produces the DSSV spool-valve shocks. This step has been available for years. It pulls out of the top edge of the tailgate when the tailgate is lowered, deploying a single step. A separate handle pulls out from beside the step and flips up, giving a handhold. While it was initially (and infamously) mocked by competitors, with load floor heights as high as they are it's better than toting around a stepstool. It's currently a $375 standalone option. Now we get to the GMC MultiPro tailgate, the most complicated and multi-functioned around. It's essentially a tailgate within a tailgate, with a fold-out stopper that deploys from the inner tailgate. This gives it several functions depending on the position of all the parts. It can still be used like a normal tailgate, dropping down at the push of a button or using the key fob.

Mazda Turnpike in Japan shut down for racing

Mon, Dec 29 2014

The people behind Motorhead Magazine in Japan clearly have some friends in high places. Not only did they manage to shutdown eight kilometers of the Mazda Turnpike up the Hakone mountain, but they invited some of the country's premiere racers to take a drive up the hill. This wasn't just a Sunday cruise either. Featuring a BMW Z4 from the Super GT series, a classic Ford GT40, two flavors of Nissan GT-R and two takes on the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, these guys came ready to run. When an opportunity to let racecars challenge a curvy mountain road presents itself, you don't squander it. Thankfully, the folks at Motorhead knew that and outfitted the course with a plethora of cameras and high-quality sound equipment to capture the action. The result is nothing short of sublime. Take the video's urging to turn up your speakers for this one, and watch as these racers hit ludicrous speeds in a beautiful place never meant for them. Top Gear's latest trailer shows off a golden Bugatti Chiron

Thu, Feb 23 2017

Top Gear is returning on March 5, and after a lackluster first series with the new hosts, the new group seems determined not to hit a sophomore slump. Chris Evans is gone, and the latest teaser trailer shows the new trio of Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid strapped into some pretty fantastic cars, including the Bugatti Chiron and the Ford GT. All of the typical Top Gear segments appear to be present, though the quick cuts don't give us many details. The trailer shows a copious amount of powerslides from an assortment of cars, and even Chris Harris racing around Daytona. Aside from the Bugatti and Ford, cars from Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, Aston Martin, and Alfa Romeo are all present. Co-hosts Eddie Jordan and Sabine Schmitz don't appear at all, so it seems their roles may be downplayed to focus on three guys, as was the case pre-reboot. We have some hope for this re-relaunched show and will be keeping an eye out for more details in the lead-up to the series premiere.
