1963 1/2 Galaxie 500

Up for auction is a nice mostly original 1963 Galaxie 500 Fastback. The car retains its original C-code 289 that has been upgraded with an original Ford cast iron 4V intake and a Holley 4V carb, automatic transmission, and power steering. The engine has received a recent tune up. It also received a small dress up kit with Cobra valve covers and a chrome air breather, similar to those who remember the 289 hi-po engines. The power steering works but has a leak in one of the lines that I will be working on.  It has glass pack dual exhaust. A brand new set of eagle ”torque thrust” style wheels were mounted on with tires that has great tread. The front wheels are 15x7 and the rears 15x8. The body is in very good shape for the year. It appears to have had one repaint of the original color. There are a few small places that are starting to bubble up but no rust through. Paint is average, a great daily driver but no show winner. The frame and floors are free of rust or rot. This is an exceptionally solid car for the year. The interior is all original from the headliner to the carpet. All of the lights work, headlights low and high beam, turn signals, brake lights etc. The temp gauge, windshield wipers, and the speedometer are also in working order. The blower motor, original AM radio, and fuel gauge are not working at this time. As far as running condition, it starts and runs great. The dual exhaust has a great vintage sound, the steering is tight and the brakes work well. This car will make a great daily driver or weekend cruise in car show candidate. Drive and enjoy it this summer. Please give me a call with any question. 765-376-3486 Thanks and Happy Bidding!!!

2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

2012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:

Ford celebrating 80 years of Aussie utes as it prepares to shutter Oz manufacturing

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

Ford is ending Australian production after 90 years in 2016, and with it may go perhaps the most iconic vehicles in its auto market - the ute. Car-based pickup trucks like the Ford Ranchero and Chevrolet El Camino were always more of a curiosity than a true market force here, but in Australia, they have long proven hugely popular.
As the legend goes, Ford invented the niche after a farmer's wife had asked Ford Australia's managing director for a more utilitarian car. Her request was simple: "My husband and I can't afford a car and a truck but we need a car to go to church on Sunday and a truck to take the pigs to market on Monday. Can you help?"
Ford's design team came up with a two-passenger, enclosed, steel coupe body with glass windows and a steel-paneled, wooden-frame load area in the rear. The sides of the bed were blended into the body to make it look more unified, and to keep costs down, the front end and interior were based on the Ford Model 40 five-window coupe. Power came from a V8 with shifting chores handled by a three-speed manual. Within a year, the new vehicle was ready, and production began in 1934. Lead designer Lewis Bandt christened it the coupe-utility.
