For sale is a fun 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible.  She has the 352 V8 2brl.  I've owned the car for 5 years, and since then, she has a new automatic transmission, rebuilt generator, new battery, new rear shocks, new convertible top motor, new fuel pump and hoses, new bushings in the stabilizer links, and new rear brake shoes.  This is a fun cruising car in great mechanical shape and decent cosmetic shape.  Paint job was re-done (I'm told) about 5 years before I purchased it, so about 10 years ago.  There are some bubbles and minor surface rust spots showing through, but nothing significant.  Convertible top works well and is in good cosmetic condition with no holes in it.  Still has the original AM radio in it (I can get in 2 stations very clearly).  Car has black pinstriping on the pearl paint.  Clock is present but not running.  Oil pressure gauge was added (not original to the car).  Front and rear seatbelts (lap belts) are present but I'm not sure if they were original to the car.  Front bucket seats and rear bench.  Wheels are 15" alloys off a modern Ford.  I have original-style hubcaps in the trunk and could be used with 14" steel wheels.  All vinyl seating with no tears.  Since I've owner her, I've had a Pennsylvania State Inspection completed every year, most recently in May 2013, about 5 months ago.  Original patent plant in the door jam is converted as follows:

Ford previews new C-Max ahead of upcoming debut

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

Looking at a Ford Focus? These days you can get it as a five-door hatch, a four-door sedan, or... that's all. European buyers don't even get our sedan, but they do get a wagon. And while the three-door hatch, two-door coupe and two-door cabrio have long since ended production, buyers around the world can also get the company's larger C-Max. And now, like the Focus upon which it's based, Ford is preparing to roll out a new version.
The tall wagon (or small minivan, depending on your perspective) is being treated to what Ford says is "an extreme makeover." Details to accompany the teaser image above remain few and far between, but following the spy shots we recently posted, it looks destined for some of the same visual updates as Ford rolled out on the 2015 Focus, with "even more refinement, practicality and technology."
Like the Mercedes B-Class, which is only available Stateside as an EV, American buyers can only get the C-Max in electrified form, either as the C-Max Hybrid or C-Max Energi. Overseas buyers, however, will be able to choose from a range of powertrain options and two wheelbase lengths - the longer of which boasts seven seats and the Grand C-Max name. (Remember when Chrysler did the same with its minivans?) Both are set to debut on September 17, so watch this space. After that, we'll expect to see it on display at the Paris Motor Show.

Matt Damon is Carroll Shelby, with Christian Bale in Ford vs. Ferrari film

Thu, Jun 21 2018

Right after we reported that one of the Le Mans-winning Ford GT40s is coming up for auction, word got round that its story will now be turned into a Hollywood movie. There will be an as-yet-untitled major motion picture that tells the story of Ford battling Ferrari in the 1960s, culminating in the Ford GT40's dramatic 1-2-3 finish in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. The movie has lined up an all-star cast, with "Batman" and "American Psycho" actor Christian Bale tapped to play key GT40 developer, test driver and racer Ken Miles, and "Punisher" actor Jon Bernthal as Lee Iacocca. The plum role of Carroll Shelby is going to Matt Damon, last seen driving across the Red Planet in "The Martian" or down a flight of stairs in the "Bourne" film series. The film's director will be James Mangold, known from directing last year's "Logan." View 37 Photos Autoweek reports that the original screenplay was based on A.J. Baime's book " Go Like Hell," but there will be a different screenplay written from scratch. Originally, "Go Like Hell" was to be a different project starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. Meanwhile, the book will reportedly be turned into a TV series produced by Peter Dinklage of "Game of Thrones." And meanwhile some more, there are also competing Enzo Ferrari biopics in the works starring Robert De Niro and another starring Hugh Jackman that will also surely touch on the rivalry with Ford. While there's no guarantee yet that the GT40 biopic will match Steve McQueen's "Le Mans," we're got high hopes. It's a great story worthy of all the attention it's getting. James Franco and tiger tease Ford Super Bowl commercial

Sat, 01 Feb 2014

Ford has just released a teaser for its Super Bowl ad, and unlike just about every other automaker, it seems that the Blue Oval is going to make us wait until Sunday to see the full spot. The teaser is, um, strange.
It stars James Franco, who believes he is Ron Riggle, the comedian, Fox NFL Sunday host and retired Marine lieutenant colonel. There's also a tiger. The vague spot has Franco claiming that "this is no ordinary commercial." You'll note on the bottom right, there's a Ford logo and the hashtag #nearlydouble.
According to Automotive News, it's part of a massive viral effort being pushed forward by Ford and its dealerships. Ford sent different teasers and "vignettes" to dealership employees and asked them to share them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, in the hopes of creating a viral effect.
