Up For Auction a 1961 Ford Starliner. If you have been looking for a timeless classis to enjoy and tinker with then you have found it.

History: I bought this car out of California after looking for quite some time. Some of the cars I found had rust and others were just too rough so when I founf this car I jumped on it. This car  was built in Texas and has  a Texas DSO,  it has spent the majority of it's life in Texas. The guy I bought it from bought it out of Texas where it was owned by the 2nd  owner for many years then brought it to Cali.

Body; the body was in decent condition when I bought it but it was painted orange and not it's original Monte Carlo red. Body wise the rockers were both replaced because they were pushed up and filled with body filler. The trunk floor was replaced because there was some rust in it and the previous repair was done poorly. Lastly both quarter drop downs were repaired by using original parts and welding them in. The floor looks great. The rest of the original sheet metal was in good condition. I had the car repainted it's original color during which all glass was removed and new weather stripes installed. The glass is decent condition but the back glass does have surface scratches. All body gaskets were replaced. The chrome is all there but has little imperfections here and there but overall looks good. The bottom of the car has a thick tar like coating but where I scrapped it off the floor looked like new. All sheet metal lines up decent. I replaced all emblems and few trim parts , pretty much whatever was available new.

Interior; The interior was in nice condition when I bought the car . The seats were already redone in black vinyl. The door panels are new and look great. I replaced the carpet and package tray. I removed the dash and had it repainted. I also replaced the dash and engine harness's where it had been spliced in the past. THe gauges work and there is an additional oil and temp gauge installed under the dash. Heater core was replaced. and I also installed a NOS wiper motor and wiper switch .

Drive train: I was told the motor is a 390 but I cant verify that so assume it's a 352. The trans is the original Cruise-matic and the rear is the original  9". The wheels are newly painted 15" steel wheels with new BF Goodrich 234-70-15 tires. The motor has run fine for me and the trans shifts fine but my intension was to replace the engine with a 427 so I didnt really do anything with the drivetrain.

Overview : This is an awesome car and  a super platform to drive or build a wonderful classic. Currently  my focus has changed so I have decided to sell the car. I have more than the asking price in the car so my loss will be your gain. The paint and body work alone were over 10K. I would love to see someone finish the car the way it deserves to be done or drive and tinker with it as you go. If you want I will change the wheels to the chrome set or if you hit the buy it now I'll give you both sets . Tires are new on both sets. Feel free to call if you have questions 540-538-6302 cell

280-bhp Elemental RP1 revealed, now with bike-engine option

Thu, Jun 26 2014

The Elemental RP1 might be Britain's next big boutique roadster success story. Designed by a team with Formula One experience, it aims to mix road car drivability with racecar performance in a single, adaptable package weighing less than 1,000 pounds. It was first previewed a few weeks ago, but the secrecy has finally disappeared due to its upcoming debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The backbone of the RP1 is a carbon fiber and aluminum tub onto which the front and rear subframes bolt on. Inside, it has an F1-like, feet-up driving position that allows for additional underfloor aerodynamic aids to improve downforce. Despite its hardcore nature, Elemental says that it wants the car to be very user friendly. Buyers should be able to drive the RP1 to the track, adjust it with some wrenches, go racing and drive it home. The company even claims the storage areas to either side of the engine offer enough room for a helmet and other racing gear. Hopefully, buyers don't crash, though, otherwise they might be stuck. Elemental is adding two more engine options for the RP1, as well. In addition to the previously announced tuned Ford 2.0-liter EcoBoost with 280 horsepower, buyers can also choose a upgraded version of Ford's three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost or a model aimed at pure track use with a 999cc Honda Fireblade motorcycle engine. The 2.0-liter uses a six-speed sequential manual gearbox, and a limited-slip differential and alternate gear sets are available as additional options. The first RP1s built will be pure racers for the 2015 season, and the first road cars will follow in the early summer of next year. Pricing isn't set yet, but scroll down for more details and full specs of Britain's latest feather light car for road and track. Introducing the Elemental Rp1 Press Release: 23/6/2014 British sports car manufacturer, Elemental Motor Company Limited, today released further details of their new and innovative, road legal track car, the Rp1. The Rp1 is an open top, road legal, mid engined sports car that incorporates state of the art road and race car technologies. Designed, Engineered and Built by a team with decades of experience in the Formula One and Supercar industries, it brings the concept of a road legal track car firmly into the 21st Century. The Rp1 will be revealed to the public for the first time, this weekend, at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will located in the Moving Motor Show tent "First Glance" display.

U.S. automakers unite in opposition to possible Trump vehicle tariffs

Mon, Feb 18 2019

WASHINGTON — The U.S. auto industry urged President Donald Trump's administration on Monday not to saddle imported cars and auto parts with steep tariffs, after the U.S. Commerce Department sent a confidential report to the White House late on Sunday with its recommendations for how to proceed. Some trade organizations also blasted the Commerce Department for keeping the details of its "Section 232" national security report shrouded in secrecy, which will make it much harder for the industry to react during the next 90 days Trump will have to review it. "Secrecy around the report only increases the uncertainty and concern across the industry created by the threat of tariffs," the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association said in a statement, adding that it was "alarmed and dismayed." "It is critical that our industry have the opportunity to review the recommendations and advise the White House on how proposed tariffs, if they are recommended, will put jobs at risk, impact consumers, and trigger a reduction in U.S. investments that could set us back decades." Representatives from the White House and the Commerce Department could not immediately be reached. The industry has warned that possible tariffs of up to 25 percent on millions of imported cars and parts would add thousands of dollars to vehicle costs and potentially devastate the U.S economy by slashing jobs. Administration officials have said tariff threats on autos are a way to win concessions from Japan and the EU. Last year, Trump agreed not to impose tariffs as long as talks with the two trading partners were proceeding in a productive manner. "We believe the imposition of higher import tariffs on automotive products under Section 232 and the likely retaliatory tariffs against U.S. auto exports would undermine - and not help - the economic and employment contributions that FCA, US, Ford Motor Company and General Motors make to the U.S. economy," said former Missouri Governor Matt Blunt, the president of the American Automotive Policy Council. Some Republican lawmakers have also said they share the industry's concerns. In a statement issued on Monday, Republican Congresswoman Jackie Walorski said she fears the Commerce Department's report could "set the stage for costly tariffs on cars and auto parts." "President Trump is right to seek a level playing field for American businesses and workers, but the best way to do that is with a scalpel, not an axe," she added.
