Up for sale is my pride and joy; a 2013 Ford Focus ST. The car has been extensively modded with virtually no area left untouched. It is a blast to drive, putting down 350hp to the wheels (thats more than the new Focus RS has at the crank). She recently took home top honors at Focus Rising 2016 (one of the largest focus and fiesta shows in the world) and she turns heads wherever I go. All the work was done right and with quality parts, no cheap stuff here. The car was recently repainted (less than 5000 miles ago) receiving a full color change in Ford Competition Orange. True Colors Collision did all the paint and body work. Again, no corners were cut here, the car was completely disassembled and repainted so all the door jams and such match. As far as I know this is the only third generation Focus ST this color in the world. The wheels, tires, and upgraded turbo kit were all put on after the new paint job so theyre all still pretty fresh. The car was professionally tuned by Dead Hook Motorsports, theyre one of the top ecoboost tuners in the country. The car has tons of power with almost no lag, but it is still composed enough to be driven daily and get over 32mpg on the highway. There are only two flaws with the car, the first is a small chip in the windshield, I had it repaired the day it happened and safelite guarantees it not to crack further but it is still visible. The passenger side seat also needs the occupancy sensor replaced. If the buy it now is used I will have these issues fixed immediately. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask, and if you are local (DelMarVa area) I will gladly take you for a test drive. I will be driving the car until it is sold so the mileage may increase & the car is for sale locally as well. There is still a small balance on my loan, but my loan company has assured me that there will be no delay in receiving the title once it is paid. Ford looks to space robots to improve car-to-car communications [w/video]

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

Ford has partnered with St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for three years to research various kinds of connected vehicle communications. The university tie-up is part of its study of space robots, NASA systems created to enable space-to-Earth communication, and the university's own development of systems that enable communication between the International Space State and Earth.
The objective is for Ford to engineer layers of robust networks and redundancy systems that will allow your car to speak to other cars, to emergency vehicles, to infrastructure like traffic lights and buildings, and to the cloud. Benefits would come in just about every area of transit, from avoiding accidents, to getting medical workers to an accident more quickly, to improving the flow of traffic during rush hour.
Check out the press release below for details on what Ford wants to learn from the JUSTIN Humanoid and NASA Robonaut R2, and a video of technical leader Oleg Gusikhin discussing his interest in the project.

We drive the 2016 Ford F-750 Tonka dump truck

Thu, May 28 2015

The Ford F-750 dump truck stands nearly 10 feet tall and is painted bright yellow. It idles patiently yards away from Ford's test track in Dearborn, MI. "Tonka" is emblazoned on the sides. We pose the obvious question to Ford marketing manager Mark Lowrey: Why do this? "We built this truck to get attention," he replies. And indeed it does. Ford revealed the 2016 F-750 Tonka dump truck in March at an industry show, underscoring that the Blue Oval is back in the business of big trucks after years of teaming with Navistar in a joint venture. The new F-650s and F-750s start rolling off the line at a factory near Cleveland this summer, and the order bank is open now. The trucks come in regular, super, and crew cabs and offer three states of tune for the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel, plus a gasoline-fed 6.8-liter V10. Naturally, the Tonka has most powerful diesel mill, with 330 horsepower and 725 pound-feet of torque. The Tonka edition is a paint-and-sticker one-off that Ford is using as a promotional tool. You can't buy one, and it will be touring shows and events throughout the year. Lowrey notes that it calls attention to work trucks in a positive way. The general public usually only sees them when the trucks are blocking the road or making too much noise at a construction site. Tonka trucks, on the other hand, conjure up happy childhood memories. "We're going to do something where someone's going to see this truck and smile," he says. It's hard not to grin as we climb into the cabin of this monster truck. It has a 33,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating and can carry five yards worth of dirt. We're not doing anything like that today – just puttering around Ford's handling circuit inside its product enclave. The course is closed, so even though this track is better suited to calibrating Mustangs, F-150s, and well, almost anything but a dump truck, we're totally relaxed. We depress the button to release the parking brake and are off. The truck is surprisingly easy to drive. The vision ahead is excellent – makes sense, we're nearly one story off the ground, after all. The cabin is simple and cleanly laid out. It looks like a Ford truck, regardless of the size. The diesel engine has a lot of grunt. We can feel the torque. The steering is light, and we have to stomp on the air brakes to slow this thing down. We go 'hot' into a tight corner just for fun. It's not really that fast, but it raises the eyebrows of our film crew, which is set up nearby.

Ford and GM link bonus checks to quality scores

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

The poor first quarter earnings of Ford and General Motors are having an effect all the way up the food chain. Both automakers struggled with recalls in the first three months of the year, and, according to The Detroit News, they have responded by increasing the percentage of bonuses tied to vehicle quality for salaried workers, including top executives.
GM announced that 25 percent of bonuses (up from 10 percent) for all salaried workers would be tied to its vehicle quality standards. The automaker revealed in its financial report that it spent $1.3 billion on recall-related repairs in the first quarter, and net income was down 86 percent.
Ford also increased the quality proportion of bonuses for about 26,000 salaried workers all the way up to CEO Alan Mulally from 10 percent to 20 percent. The company announced in its report that the amount paid out in warranty and recall claims was about $400 million higher than expected in the first quarter. Its net income fell 39 percent from the previous year. "The change reflects how critical quality is to our overall business," said spokesperson Todd Nissen speaking to Autoblog.
