Customized 1965 Ford Falcon Hardtop on 2040-cars
Midlothian, Virginia, United States
ITEM You are bidding on a customized 1965 Ford Falcon hardtop. The car has won numerous awards including 1st place in the Modified category at the 2010 Falcon Club of America National meeting in Dearborn, MI. The car was built in SW North Carolina and has been driven less than 5000 miles since the restoration was completed. I've owned the car about 4 years and am the second owner since the completion of the build. The car is a great driver but is usually trailered on long trips to minimize damage to the paint. The car is powered by a rebuilt 302 CID SBF engine with a 4 barrel Edelbrock carb, a Dan Williams top-loader 4 speed transmission and a Hurst shifter. The engine breathes through Doug's full length headers, Flowmaster mufflers with the pipes exiting ahead of the rear tires. A narrowed 8" Ford open rear completes the drive-train. The exterior features a Crites fiberglass T-bolt style hood, side and rear trim and factory emblems have been removed and custom pin-stripping has been applied to the sides and rear. Paint is a Sherwin-Williams BC/CC. A stock steel hood painted to match the car is included with the auction. The build included a new radiator and hoses and an electric pusher fan mounted in front of the radiator. The fan has not been connected, but the sale includes a Ron Francis electric fan wiring kit and relay. The factory wiring harness was removed and a Ron Francis Bare-Bonz wiring harness was installed. The fuse and relay panel is mounted above the driver's side kick panel and the wiring harness is completely color keyed and labeled. The interior features Mustang bucket seats with custom upholstery, custom headliner, an engine turned Haneline instrument cluster with TPI instruments, a custom aluminum dash insert on the passenger's side, new carpet with dynamat underlayment, a Pioneer radio, a custom console and a Grant steering wheel. The windshield was replaced with the build and all new window seals, weatherstripping and window fuzzies were installed. The rear window has a blemish and another used rear window is included with the sale. The car rides on 17" Billet Specialties Fast Lane wheels and BFG G-Sport tires. Front tires are 205/50-17R and the rears are 245/45-17R. The rear wheel wells have been mini-tubbed and the rear springs have been relocated inside the rear frame rails. Subframe connectors have been installed. At one point, the car was being built as a drag racer but the prior owner purchased it and built it as a pro-touring style street car. The stock fuel tank had been removed, the trunk floor filled, a 14 gallon fuel cell installed and braces were installed in the trunk in anticipation of drag racing the car. The braces and fuel cell could be removed, a stock type gas tank could be installed and the trunk could be finished to match the custom interior if a future owner wishes. The prior owner had the car appraised in 2009 and it was valued at $35,000. Since owning the car, I have installed a new Optima red-top battery, a reproduction 5 blade fan and heavy duty shroud, both emergency brake cables, Beam seat belts, reproduction hood hinges, a new clutch kit, pressure plate, TOB, dual reservoir master cylinder and a Wilwood proportioning valve and had the car pin-stripped. The only issues with the car is a slight water leak on the driver's side, the blemish on the rear window, the passenger side courtesy light switch needs to be replaced ($10 part) and the heater fan has quit working recently. The heater fan has just quit working and I have not had a chance to locate the problem. I have a clear Virginia title for the car. The car is located in Richmond, Virginia. I've described the car as best as I can and I would urge interested bidders to inspect the car in person. Weather permitting, the car will be at the Ford Fever Classic show at Budd's Creek Dragway (Maryland International Raceway) on Saturday, November 9th for your inspection. Send me a message if you plan to see the car there and I will give you my cell phone number. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I have listed the car with a reserve and I will not reveal what the reserve price is. I will say that the reserve price is considerably less than the apprised value. Check my eBay rating and bid with confidence. SHIPPING If the successful bidder does not want to drive the car home, he will be responsible for selecting a shipper and for all costs associated with shipping the car to a new location. I will work with the shipper of your choice to coordinate pick-up. PAYMENT A $1000 deposit is required via PayPal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. Please don't bid if you must arrange financing or if you do not have permission from your wife to buy the car. Final payment is due within 7 days of the close of the auction. Final payment must be made with cash or a wire transfer to my bank account. If using a wire transfer, the car and title will not be released until my bank notifies me that the money has been credited to my account. |

Watch this awesome R/C car chase scene made with cardboard and glue
Fri, 22 Feb 2013It never ceases to amaze us how much video production talent you can find on YouTube, especially when considering movies like Battleship actually exist on the silver screen. It's even better, of course, when cars are involved, which is why we can't stop watching this car chase between a pair of radio controlled Ford Mustangs.
Racing through a detailed set built in the middle of a public street using just "cardboard, hot glue and spray paint," this video is possibly even greater than The Greatest R/C Car Chase Ever that we saw last year. With the exception of a fruit stand and/or a plate-glass window being carried across the street, this has all the makings of a classic cliché chase scene.
Scroll down to watch the scaled-down action ensue as well as the full-scale conclusion.
Ford recalling 390,000 cars over door latch woes
Fri, Apr 24 2015Ford is recalling certain Fiesta, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles due to faulty door latches, marking the latest in what seems to be a recurring issue for the Blue Oval. This is the third door latch recall from Ford in 2015, following a 213,000-unit recall in March and a 205,000-unit recall in January. This one, however, is significantly larger. A total of 390,000 units are affected, including Fusions and MKZs from model years 2013 and 2014, as well as Fiestas from model years 2012 to 2014. A "broken pawl spring tab" is the culprit, potentially keeping doors from latching shut. According to Ford, even if the door does shut, it could come open again without warning. The affected Fiestas were built between February 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013 at the Cuautitlan, Mexico factory. The Fusion and MKZ siblings, meanwhile, were screwed together at Hermosillo Assembly in Mexico between July 1, 2012 to May 31, 2013. Ford is aware of three minor reports of door malfunctions. In two cases, the door bounced back open, quite literally hitting drivers on their way out. In the third case, a door swung open of its own accord while a driver was attempting to park, hitting another vehicle. Ford will notify owners, who will need to report into dealers to have all four latches replaced. Scroll down for the official press release. Related Video: APR 24, 2015 | DEARBORN, MICH. FORD MOTOR COMPANY ISSUES SAFETY RECALL IN NORTH AMERICA FOR DOOR LATCH ISSUE ON FORD FIESTA AND FUSION, LINCOLN MKZ Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall for approximately 390,000 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta and 2013-2014 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles for a door latch issue. The door latch in these vehicles may experience a broken pawl spring tab, which typically results in a condition where the door will not latch. If a customer is then able to latch the door, there is potential the door may unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury. Ford is aware of two allegations of soreness resulting from an unlatched door bouncing back when the customer attempted to close it, and one accident allegation when an unlatched door swung open and struck an adjacent vehicle as the driver was pulling into a parking space. Affected vehicles include certain 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta vehicles built at Cuautitlan Assembly Plant, Feb.
Ford S-Max Concept previews new look, technology for Euro seven-seater
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Ford unveiled today the S-Max Concept, which comes with a new, sleek look and loaded with innovative technology, such as a heart-rate monitoring seat. But if you're heart is set on a minivan sports activity vehicle (SAV) and you live in the States, don't wait for this one - it's a Europe-only product, and we don't expect that to change when the next-gen S-Max is released.
The styling follows Ford's global design language, looking a bit like an overgrown Focus hatchback with the company's signature grille, wraparound headlamps, steeply raked windshield and curved roof line. Ford also implemented details to make the S-Max look longer and faster, such as a feature line on each side of the vehicle and muscular-looking fenders. The engine isn't Ford's most powerful, but the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine should be potent enough with turbocharging and other efficiency related technologies.
Ford says the new interior, which seats up to seven people, features high-quality materials and fine detailing, such as an "ultra-soft" leather wrap for the instrument panel and leather and carbon-fiber details on the seats. Ford's Sync connectivity system with MyFord Touch makes the car a wireless hotspot, and there's a tablet docking station for second-row occupants.
