2000 Ford F450 Cab and Chassis, converted to pickup truck (very rare bed)
Truck is 2wd with Indestructible kingpin style front end. Early Cummins 12v Engine, low miles, well maintained, and just resealed Brand new Super B upgraded turbo Ford Superduty Intercooler Custom cold air inlet Custom modified complete exhaust system with tailpipe Low mileage ZF-6 manual 6-speed transmission South Bend clutch, good to 450hp Freshly serviced rear end with 3.54 gears All new brakes and e-brake New batteries New brake controller 2007 complete front end 2010 tow mirrors 2010 tailgate and rear bumper F450/550 specific bed (looks like standard F-350 dually bed, but is set up for 160" CA) Bed mounted fuel tank Super heavy duty Class 5 hitch Fresh professional paint (Factory white) Selling this bad ass F450 that we're just now finishing. I didn't build this truck to sell, I built it to be the ultimate tow rig for my race trailer, and I didn't skimp on anything. Only selling it because I'm getting a brand new dually through work. Truck was completely professionally built and I have all the receipts. Engine and trans was installed by Central Truck and Trailer using Ford/Cummins swap parts. All fab work is very nicely done by Diamond Fabrication. Paint was done by Robert K. Wiring was done by Downriver Motorsports Wiring. DNR Customs did minor pump mods, a 3200RPM spring, and fixed the potential KDP issue. Tons of new parts. Runs, drives, and works great, just needs very minor finishing touches. I am going to work on it until it is 100% complete, but the price may go up. The object of the build was to end up with a truck to tow my 15k pound race trailer that was very dependable and would run for a long, long time. Would be a super dependable hot-shot rig, and will get over 20mpg unloaded. Will let it go for $15,500 the way it sits. Losing a *lot* of money at this price. May take trades or partial trades. I dig cars....either fast, old, or both, so partial trades for cars, engines, etc may be considered. Already have too many trucks. I will consider all reasonable offers. Email trade offers only please, fryguy302 AT gmail.com |

Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.
Ford CEO told Trump 1 million jobs at stake because of fuel economy regs
Sat, Jan 28 2017Bloomberg is reporting that Mark Fields, Ford's CEO, pushed President Donald Trump for market-driven national fuel economy standards, and that up to a million jobs could be at stake if those national regulations didn't take consumer expectations into account. Fields was reporting on his conversation with Trump in remarks made at the National Automobile Dealers Association in New Orleans, Bloomberg reports. The report also states that he and fellow CEOs Mary Barra of GM and Sergio Marchionne of FCA aren't seeking to eliminate fuel economy standards altogether, but rather to make them more flexible. Bloomberg reports that Fields didn't cite the studies he was referring to in support of his job loss figures, so we can't independently verify Fields' math at this time. But his push to stop selling cars consumers don't want – that is to say, more hybrids and EVs than consumer demand supports right now – is clear. We've already reported on that. To level an educated guess at what will happen next, Trump seems likely to reduce the stringent 2025 fuel economy targets, perhaps freezing them at current levels. The automakers are already invested in producing vehicles that meet current standards, and they also have to think about foreign markets like Europe that aren't likely to relax standards below current levels. If you consider economies of scale, automakers are likely to ask for federal standards that match global standards for their largest markets as closely as possible. We'll see if Trump buys Fields' math, but Ford isn't hedging its bets. Backing out of the Mexican assembly plant cost the company $200 million – not a huge sum compared to the total value of Ford, a massive company which had its second best year ever, but still an important gesture to Trump about Ford's priorities.
