This is a NO RESERVE auction for a 2008 Ford F350 XLT Super Duty that needs engine work.  Her interior and exterior condition are very good.  She starts right up and idles perfectly.  There are no problems with acceleration if she is in park or neutral.  Please read this carefully.  The problem with the truck is that she will be driving just fine and out of nowhere and usually at the most inopportune moment she starts smoking, running erratically and then dies.  Once she cools down, she starts up fine and drives fine until this happens all over again.  We thought it was an oil problem and installed brand new twin turbos and this did not help.  The previous owner thought it was a problem with the EGR.  He installed EGR coolers, radiator, a bunch of sensors in the exhaust and a new ECU.  This did not solve the problem.  She goes really quickly into regen mode.  There has been a compression test done and it was fine.  There are no knocks in the engine.  There is an exterior oil leak.  Everything seems fine until it warms up and you start driving it.  I am trying to provide as much information as I can.  As a person who buys and sells trucks regularly I get tired of everyone selling a truck for their "friend, relative, etc" and nobody has driven the truck in a year but last time they did she ran good, or so they say:)  This is a great project for a mechanically inclined person and I want you to know what you are dealing with.  If you would like to come and look at her prior to bidding, please call 850-687-8756 and I will be happy to schedule a time.  If you have any questions or want more information, just text or call me.

I am selling her as a No Reserve Auction, because I do not have the time, resources or proper scanning tool to give her any more attention.  She could be a great truck or a great opportunity for a good profit margin.  Serious buyers only please, only bid if you understand her condition and can pay.

Ford adding second supplier for F-150 frames

Mon, Aug 10 2015

Metalsa, the company that builds steel frames for the aluminum-bodied Ford F-150, is still having trouble providing enough frames to supply the two factories that build the pickup. The snafu is preventing Ford from selling as many of the country's best-selling truck as it could, and eating into profits - even though the bottom line is still breaking company records. According to The Wall Street Journal, Ford has picked Michigan company Tower International as a second frame supplier and expects to have inventory up to a proper level at the beginning of Q4 of this year. Neither Ford nor Tower would confirm the development - Automotive News got comments from a source and pieced together bits of info from Tower's financial statements and local press reports. Tower currently builds body structures for several vehicles, including the F-series, and the Bellevue, Ohio factory that will build F-150 frames previously manufactured frames for the Ranger and Econoline. According to a story in the local Sandusky Register, Tower will add one production line at the end of next month to begin shipping frames in October, and another line in April 2016. Something like 138 full-time workers and 364 robots are expected to carry out the work. Tower's most recent financial statement said that capital investment will be necessary to get everything set up, but the contract will be worth $140 million in yearly revenue.

Ford ditching Microsoft in favor of BlackBerry QNX for next-gen Sync?

Mon, 24 Feb 2014

Ask the average consumer - at least, those who follow the goings-on in the automotive industry - which carmaker they'd most closely associate Microsoft, and the answer you'd most likely get would be Ford. The Blue Oval automaker, after all, was at the forefront of bringing Microsoft technology into cars with its pioneering Sync system, and, though reality didn't turn out as such, Ford's CEO was recently touted as a potential future head of the Redmond-based software giant. But that relationship, according to the latest reports, could be coming to an end.
Alan Mullaly kiboshed the idea of leaving Dearborn for Redmond, but more importantly Ford is tipped to be ditching Microsoft in developing its next-generation Sync system. In its place, Ford is expected to partner with BlackBerry's QNX division.
Now, before you go balking "BlackBerry?! But they're finished!" consider that QNX is (or at least was) an independent entity that Research In Motion (as BlackBerry's Ontario-based parent company was then known) just happened to have bought back in 2010. QNX provides control systems to everything from nuclear power plants and UAVs to automakers like Audi, BMW and Porsche.

Ford F-150, Mustang, Explorer, Bronco and Lincoln Aviator recalled for rollaway fears

Wed, Feb 22 2023

Ford is recalling certain F-150, Mustang, Explorer, Bronco, and Lincoln Aviator models from the 2022 and 2023 model years equipped with automatic transmissions. According to documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford's 10R80 transmission may contain a loose bolt — literally an extra bolt loose inside the transmission, not a bolt that isn't tightened — that could prevent the transmission from engaging in Park. This could happen even if the gear shifter position indicates that the vehicle has been shifted to "Park." As Ford's recall acknowledgement says, "The inability to secure the vehicle in the park position can result in a rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash or injury." Dealers will replace the transmissions of vehicles affected by this defect. Note a similar-sounding recall was announced in 2022, but it was for entirely different models with entirely different transmissions. A relatively small number of units — 944 to be exact, or 4% of production — are thought to be affected by this issue, but they weren't built in successive order, meaning their VINs need to be verified by Ford. Customers are advised to contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference Ford's internal recall number 23S06. Because some vehicles affected by this recall could be on dealer lots, Ford sent a note to its network of dealerships advising them not to sell or demonstrate the models included in this recall, potentially until the second quarter of 2023 when Ford expects "that parts ordering information and repair instructions will be available to support this safety recall."
