This is a 1992 Ford F350 with the 7.3L diesel engine with 4X4 and it's a crew cab.  It took me a very long time to find a truck that had all these options prior to me buying it.  When I found the truck it was located in southern TX, I flew down and drove it all the way home.  Here in MI is is very hard to find a truck that isn't eaten away with rust and this one is in really great shape.  I have driven it daily throughout the past 3 years and it has never left me stranded anywhere.  We are moving and I can't get all my stuff to the other side of the country so this has to go, and I'm really bummed by having to sell it.

Here are the good points to the truck:
  • 3/0 battery cables that were put in about a year ago
  • 2 new batteries that were put in about 2 months ago
  • Electric fuel pump put in a mont ago (Dura Lift about $250 worth of new parts)
  • Transfer case rebuilt in February
  • New carrier bearing 2 months ago
  • Tires are in fair shape
  • Engine has run great
  • Glow plugs are in good shape
  • Installed manual glow plug button
  • Transmission works properly
  • Rear seat and cab is in really good shape
  • Proper coolant has been run in this truck (I use fleet guard)
  • Good block heater
  • Its been very reliable (I am a firefighter and use it to make runs from home)
Here are the bad points of the truck:
  • 284+K miles, the truck still runs great though
  • Power steering hoses leak
  • Tranny coolant lines are leaking (not much but I would replace them the next time I flushed the coolant)
  • The headlights suck (replaced the originals with some cheap clear lens ones and they are not that good)
  • There is a tear in the drivers side seat
  • Glow plug relay (I'm guessing this is the issue) works when it wants
  • There are two clearance lights that the lens are broken on
  • The paint is horrible (the old paints just weren't formulated very well) You can see in the pictures that there isn't much clear coat
  • There is a dent in the hood from what appears that someone tried to shut the hood while the hinge was locked in the open position
  • The front bumper has a dent and is also rusted through on one corner
  • The interior light works sometimes when you open the door but not at other times
  • The door locks don't work for all doors
  • There appears to be some bondo in the drivers door
  • There is rust in the bottom corners of both fenders
  • The mirror switch for auto mirrors is not working (this just started in the past couple weeks)
  • Someone cut a hole in the bed for what I'm guessing was going to be a stack exhaust
  • The dash has many cracks
  • The vent slats are all non functional
  • The door panels all are in need of either being replaced or worked on
  • Drivers side seat belt doesn't fully retract
  • The rear gas tank I have never used because the previous owner told me that it didn't work, and I have never looked into it
  • Dents and scratches
I'm sure I have missed both some good points and some bad points so ask about anything that you might have questions about.  If you're asking yourself why would you be interested in this truck, I will tell you why I bought it and why I hate seeing it go.  I think this is one of the best F body trucks of all time.  I needed an option to haul my wife and four kids in the winter and this truck could hold everyone and being 4X4 it could make it through the snow.  The 7.3 naturally aspired is slow but it just keeps going.  This truck has been rock solid for me, I don't know if anyone had done any work to the engine prior to me owning it but seems like it has many miles left in it.  All the guys at the fire department love this truck and many of them want to buy it but they are firefighters and don't have any money.  There is very little to be done to keep this truck functional.  The body and interior could use some work but it hasn't bothered me.  I feel safe in this truck.
Due to the age of the truck I can't promise you that it will run forever or offer any type of warranty.  Because I am moving across the country the truck will need to be picked up no later than May 3rd unless we have worked out some type of arrangement prior to the end of the auction. The hitch isn't included in the auction but there is a diamond plate tool box that does go with the truck.

Ford recalls 200,000 vehicles for brake lights that won't turn off

Wed, Jan 19 2022

Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a new recall for nearly 200,000 vehicles because their brake lights may not turn off. Drivers of affected vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions may also be able to shift the vehicles out of Park even when their foot is off the brake. That increases the risk of a rollaway and could cause a crash. According to documentation posted on NHTSA's recall hub, a separated brake pedal bumper is to blame for the issue. The recall applies to "certain 2014-2015 Fusion, Lincoln MKZ and 2015 Mustang vehicles originally sold or ever registered, in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Hawaii." The safety regulator adds that "exposure to certain environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, high humidity and salt air can cause the brake pedal bumper to disintegrate and separate from the brake pedal." Owners of affected vehicles should expect notification of the recall in early March. They will be directed to the dealership of their choice to have their brake pedal bumpers and clutch pedal bumpers replaced free of charge. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. 2014 Ford Transit Connect Taxi hopes to fare thee well

Mon, 23 Sep 2013

New York City may have selected its taxi of tomorrow, but there are still plenty of municipalities across the US with citizens that depend on yellow livery cars to get them across town in a jiffy. That's why Ford is going ahead with this, the new Transit Connect Taxi.
Based on the 2014 Transit Connect, the TC Taxi boasts a number of features designed to make the compact van appeal to discerning taxi drivers and their fares, with the most notable upgrade being a standardized prep package to convert the 2.5-liter four to run on liquefied petroleum or compressed natural gas. The clean-burning fuel options will allow operators to save on fuel costs and cut down on pollution without sacrificing performance.
A lower load floor and a new twist-beam rear suspension are meant to improve the riding experience for passengers, while the longer 2014 Transit Connect sports extra cargo space as well. In addition to the CNG/LPG conversion, the Transit Connect Taxi can also be easily modified for wheelchair access. Drivers, meanwhile, will have access to optional goodies like Sync with MyFord Touch and a rear-view camera.
