This 1975 Ford F100 Ranger pickup is certainly an unusual find. With a 390 under the hood, great color combination and no signs of hard labor in its past, this is a unique opportunity to pick up an overlooked piece of Ford history.

You've seen other mid-70s Ford pickups clattering and rattling down the interstate, held together with wire and duct tape, but rarely do you see one this nice. This one carries sparkling black paint on smooth sheetmetal, this truck appears to have been well maintained from day one. The Ranger package was the top-of-the-line package for the F100 (remember, this was before Ford began building a smaller pickup called the Ranger), and offered a ton of chrome and stainless trim, including lots of brightwork on the flanks and rocker panels, as well as on the tailgate. There's also a matching chrome rear bumper, and the only modification is a spotlight mounted on the driver's door pillar, which is a cool accessory. With a brand new Duraliner bedliner, this pick-up is ready for duty!

The black interior offers carpets and fabric seat covers that give the Ranger an upscale feel. The upholstery is a very soft fabric that has an elegant touch to it that was so popular of 1970s luxury cars, and it looks extra sharp in the working-class pickup cab. Even the headliner is covered in the same fabric with luxurious stainless trim. Everything remains in good condition with little wear, even the carpets. The three-speed column-shifted manual transmission is a throwback to an earlier era, but it moves through the gears neatly and fits this truck's personality just fine. Compared to today's pickups, the option list is light, but that's how it was with trucks in the days before they were luxury cruisers. A full complement of gauges keeps an eye on the engine with an AM/FM/cassette player providing tunes for trips to the hardware store or a local event.

Ford's rugged and torquey 390 cubic inch V8 provides the power, and it does just as good a job here as it did in the Mustang GTs of the 1960s. It's a clean engine bay that appears to have received necessary maintenance when needed. The painted Ford blue motor is a nice contrast to the black fenders, with a nice flash from the chrome air cleaner. With a swell of torque, and a wonderful sound from the dual exhaust system, you'll enjoy piloting this big truck as much as any vintage muscle car, and performance is quite good. The chassis doesn't seem to have seen abuse in its lifetime, and power steering with power front disc brakes provides some extra comfort and confidence.

For those who appreciate something a little out of the ordinary, this F100 is for you. Pickup trucks will always have a special following, and you can be certain that Ford's halo workhorse from the '70s will have plenty of attention. Call today!

2015 Ford Mustang gets pricing, configurator and less weight than expected

It's here; it's finally here. No more speculating or looking at dealer order guides, the configurator for the 2015 Ford Mustang is finally online. That means you should put down whatever you're doing and build your new 'Stang. Weight data for the new model has also leaked out, and while there is an increase, it's less than previously rumored.
The basic V6 coupe carries a base price of $23,600, plus an additional $825 destination charge for all models. Upgrading to the 2.3-liter Ecoboost costs $25,170, and the Ecoboost Premium is $29,170. If you need a V8 in your life, the Mustang GT is $32,100 or $36,100 with the Premium package. That puts the starting price up about $1,000 over the previous generation for the V6, but the turbocharged four-cylinder starts about $1,400 less than the V6 Premium, which is no longer available. Prices for both V8 models jumped about $1,000, as well.
If you need the convertible Mustang, the V6 starts at $29,100, excluding destination, $1,590 more than last year. The Ecoboost Premium 'vert is $34,670, and the GT droptop is $41,600.

VW walks away from Aurora after self-driving startup partners with FCA

BERLIN — Volkswagen has ended its partnership with self-driving car software firm Aurora, two days after the Silicon Valley start-up said it would build autonomous platforms for commercial vehicles with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. "The activities under our partnership have been concluded," a VW spokesman said in a statement on Tuesday following an earlier Financial Times report on the move which said VW now wanted to work with Ford Motor Co on autonomous driving. Ford's majority-owned subsidiary Argo AI is building an automated "driver" that could compete with Aurora's technology. Aurora said Tuesday "Volkswagen Group has been a wonderful partner to Aurora since the early days of development of the Aurora Driver." The company's statement added that it continues to work "with a growing array of partners." The autonomous vehicle industry is still in its infancy, and alliances and strategies are fluid. Aurora has sought to remain independent and serve a number of would-be autonomous vehicle makers rather than be acquired. Aurora, which said in February it had raised $530 million in new funding, also has partnerships with Hyundai Motor Co and China's Byton to develop and test self-driving systems for automakers, fleet owners and others. After announcing its partnership with Aurora in early 2018, VW last June began discussions with Ford to develop a range of commercial vehicles, later extending the discussions to include electric vehicles and Argo's autonomous driving technology as part of an alliance designed to save billions in costs. Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant

Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.
