1956 Ford F-100 Longbed This is a very nice
truck, perfect for daily driving. Its recent upgrades include:
-Upgraded 302 engine and automatic transmission . -Power Steering -Power Brakes -Cold A/C -Ford 9" rear end -Tilt column The Ford F-100 trucks are very desirable. Especially the 1956 year. The option of the "Big Window" makes them rare. This truck is a true and original big window truck. It has had some modifications that make this truck extremely nice to drive. It drives straight and smooth down the road. With the many options available for these trucks, making this into a short bed is a very easy solution. The bed on this truck would need to be replaced and the parts are readily available. I have cut trucks down in the past and it is very easy. What a great way to get a very good and solid truck and save money. The truck is 99% rust free. It has been in Arizona for the last 18 years and has not seen harsh weather conditions. It was painted a few years ago, but it needs to be done again. Although it looks decent in pictures, it has its flaws and blemishes from the Arizona sun. You will enjoy this truck. If you have been shopping for a Ford big window truck, then you know how hard they are to find, not to mention a solid and rust free truck. Don't miss out.

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books
Fri, 08 Aug 2014The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.
White House clears way for NHTSA to mandate vehicle black boxes
Fri, 07 Dec 2012At present, over 90 percent of all new vehicles sold in the United States today are equipped with event data recorders, more commonly known as black boxes. If the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gets its way, that already high figure will swell to a full 100 percent in short order.
Such automotive black boxes have been in existence since the 1990s, and all current Ford, General Motors, Mazda and Toyota vehicles are so equipped. NHTSA has been attempting to make these data recorders mandatory for automakers, and according to The Detroit News, the White House Office of Management Budget has just finished reviewing the proposal, clearing the way. Now NHTSA is expected to draft new legislation to make the boxes a requirement.
One problem with current black boxes is that there's no set of standards for automakers to follow when creating what bits of data are recorded, and for how long or in what format it is stored. In other words, one automaker's box is probably not compatible with its competitors.
