1953 Ford F100, Custom, Hot Rod, Low Rod, Classic, Pickup Chopped Top

This truck is not a trailer queen and has never been in or on a trailer to my knowledge. It’s a driver and comes complete with minor nicks, chips, and drips. Its show quality but not of the concourse de elegance variety.

Starting from the ground: The tires are Goodrich 225/70R15 in front and Goodrich 255/70R15 in the rear. The wheels, like the steering wheel, are billet Budniks. The front end is a Heidts, the rear end is a big Lincoln with an emergency brake disk which actually works. The truck has four wheel disk brakes. The suspension is constructed with Firestone Air Ride components and controlled with Ride Tech controls controlling all four corners independently. The air is supplied by two compressors that feed the holding tank. The system has an external Schrader valve to manually inflate the system should the need arise. The rear is supported by a four link and panhard bar system. The frame is a stock 1953 Ford that has been “C” notched to allow the truck to drop to the ground. The pickup bed floor has been raised 3” to accommodate the differential when the truck is lowered so that the bed floor remains flat. There is a battery shut off switch accessible behind a wheel. The gas tank is under the bed and fills through a cover in the bed. The gas tank is an aluminum 17 gallon “No Limit” tank. The exhaust system is a dual “flow master” style setup with ceramic block hugger headers (the photos were taken before the ceramic headers were installed). One of the photos shows Corvette style pipes coming out just in front of the rear wheels. That system has been replaced with the one just described. The engine is a bored out 396 with a mild cam backed by a turbo 400 transmission. The headlights are 7” Adjure Tri Bar Blue Dots. The turn signal, brake, and tail lights are all LEDs. The red LED lights in the ends of the bed rail tubes are Pro’s Pick “Bed Roll Hot Lites”. They are also tail, brake, and turn signals. The bed tonneau lifts are also by Pro’s Pick. The tonneau cover its self consists of a box metal frame covered with convertible top fabric but I don’t believe it is a Pro’s Pick product (came with the truck). The door mirrors are “Visions” purchased from Pro’s Pick. The truck is all metal with the exception of the wide rear fenders. The rear fenders are fiberglass and were installed to accommodate the width of the Lincoln rear end. The cab is chopped approximately 3”. The steering column is GM. The tach and speedometer are Autometer, the battery, oil, temp, and gas gauges are VDOs mounted on a Dolphin billet panel. The interior door handles, window cranks, pedals, and misc knobs are all Billet Specialties. The heat and conditioning are provided by Vintage Air. The stereo is a custom designed Pioneer face off with a remote face on the A/C ducting. The stereo has an auxiliary I-Pod cable, out of sight, under the edge of the seat. The disc changer is behind the “Glide” seat in a speaker cabinet and is not accessible. The cabinet behind the seat also contains the bass speaker, an amp, and the hidden radio antenna. The stereo speakers are in the kick panels. There are two chrome fire extinguishers located at the ends of the seat and slightly behind it and out of sight. The graphics, brush drawings, pin striping, and air brush artistry are the work of Mark Lueck of Mark Lueck’s Art and Design in El Cajon, California. Mark’s works appear in the NHRA Museum, Past Time Signs, Hot Rod Magazine, as well as Sea World San Diego and many other locations. Mark’s website has many samples of his work. The deceased rock star caricatures depicted on the hood mural have a theme to them that accompanies the history of hot Roding that will be shared with the buyer. The art and stylings of the late Von Dutch and Ed Roth can be seen in the mural and other artwork.

HOOD PICTURES ARE OF:

ELVIS, WOLFMAN JACK, JANIS JOPLIN, JIMI HENDRIX (2), EDDIE COCHRAN, DIMEBAG DARREL, BO DIDDLEY, JIM MORRISON, JOHN LENNON, JERRY GARCIA, AIRPLANE AND THREE STARS ARE FOR THE BIG BOPPER, RITCHIE VALENS, AND BUDDY HOLLY.

The light area across Janice’s face is a reflection off the radiator and not a flaw in the painting. NO, the hood is not for sale by its self. Yes, I’ve been asked to sell just it.

The photos were taken at various times and the truck hadn’t been completed when some of the photos were taken.

It has been awarded dozens trophies. Several are for Best in Show, Best in Class, and First Place. It was awarded the Bad To The Bone Award at the San Diego chapter of Pick Ups Limited 2009 Picnic that included many of their northern chapter trucks as well. It has even been awarded Best Hot Rod and First Place Hot Rod trophies at various car shows and Low Rider car shows. It received Best Pick Up and was selected out of over 500 cars at the twenty second annual Vista Burger Run (San Diego County’s largest one day, pre 1972 car show) to be featured on “Whipnotic” (January 2009). Its appeal seems to be very wide spread as several car show producers have said it would certainly get a Most Photographed award if there was such a thing.

The trophies pictured with the truck are just some of trophies it has been awarded. The buyer is welcome to most of them if wanted.

I highly recommend that serious bidders examine, or have, the truck examined, before they bid as the truck is to be “sold as is” with no warranties or refunds.

The truck is being offered locally, for sale or TRADE, and may be pulled from the auction if a deal is reached prior to the end of the auction.

A ten percent (of sale price) non refundable deposit, in US dollars (USD), is required within three working days of the auction’s end. Full CASH payment must be made in person, in US DOLLARS, and must be paid within ten working days of the auction’s end. The truck must be picked up from the seller as NO SHIPPING will be provided. I will work with the buyer/buyer’s shipper to help facilitate a shipment but will not be responsible for the shipping. The truck must be picked up and paid for in full within fourteen days of the end of the auction. NO STORAGE will be provided. THANX FOR LOOKING. If the past repeats its self it will be seen nearly a thousand times a day.

2015 Ford Focus Sedan is fresh-faced and ready to defend its Most Popular crown

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

Ford has made an art of deeper-than-normal midlife updates since the 2010 Fusion, a strategy that has allowed it to keep models looking fresher in showrooms for longer without needing full redesigns. Instead of slight touchups to light fixtures, new paint colors and perhaps new wheel patterns, Ford has been digging deeper, with significant sheetmetal changes and very different front-end looks, along with an increased emphasis on new in-car technologies to keep models vibrant. Other automakers are following this trend, and Ford itself is continuing on the path with this new 2015 Focus Sedan.
There's a handsome new SE Sport Package that includes a firmer touring suspension, modest body kit and 17-inch wheels.
We first saw this sleek Aston Martin-like nose fitted to a Focus at the Geneva Motor Show last month, but Ford only showed the new look on the five-door hatchback - this is the first appearance of the sedan, which will bow at next week's New York Auto Show. The front end treatment is the same, with a new hood, new headlamps incorporating LED accents, a different grille shape and a completely revised lower fascia that does away with the 2014 model's controversial triangle-shaped corners and gaping intakes. The rear gets a new two-piece, laser-brazed trunk lid with new taillamps, but the overall look is quite similar to last year's car. In any case, the refreshed look brings the Focus sedan more in line with the design of Ford's other recently reworked cars, including the Fusion and Fiesta.

8 automakers, 15 utilities collaborate on open smart-charging for EVs

Thu, Jul 31 2014

We're going to lead with General Motors here. GM is one of eight automakers working with 15 utilities and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) at developing a "smart" plug-in vehicle charging system. Why did we start with GM? Because it's the first automaker whose press release we read that mentioned the other seven automakers. Points for sharing. For the record, the collaboration also includes BMW, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Ford. The utilities include DTE Energy, Duke Energy, Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas & Electric. The idea is to develop a so-called "demand charging" system in which an integrated system lets the plug-ins and utilities communicate with each other so that vehicle charging is cut back at peak hours, when energy is most expensive, and ramped up when the rates drop. Such entities say there's a sense of urgency to develop such a system because the number of plug-in vehicles on US roads totals more than 225,000 today and is climbing steadily. There's a lot of technology involved, obviously, but the goal is to have an open platform that's compatible with virtually any automaker's plug-in vehicle. No timeframe was disclosed for when such a system could go live but you can find a press release from EPRI below. EPRI, Utilities, Auto Manufacturers to Create an Open Grid Integration Platform for Plug-in Electric Vehicles PALO ALTO, Calif. (July 29, 2014) – The Electric Power Research Institute, 8 automakers and 15 utilities are working to develop and demonstrate an open platform that would integrate plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) with smart grid technologies enabling utilities to support PEV charging regardless of location. The platform will allow manufacturers to offer a customer-friendly interface through which PEV drivers can more easily participate in utility PEV programs, such as rates for off-peak or nighttime charging. The portal for the system would be a utility's communications system and an electric vehicle's telematics system. As the electric grid evolves with smarter functionality, electric vehicles can serve as a distributed energy resource to support grid reliability, stability and efficiency. With more than 225,000 plug-in vehicles on U.S. roads -- and their numbers growing -- they are likely to play a significant role in electricity demand side management.

Ford E-Series chassis cabs and cutaways to survive mass Transit onslaught

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

In March 2013, Ford announced we'd be getting chassis cab and cutaway versions of the Transit. Since incoming Transit vans will soon be rolling over the grave of the E-Series van, it was assumed that all E-Series models would go six feet under as well. According to a report from PickupTrucks.com, however, that's not the case, the report claiming that the highly modifiable E-350 and E-450 chassis cab and cutaway versions will continue being produced in Avon Lake, Ohio "at least until 2020."
Being decades old, the be-cabbed E-Series platform has found its way under an army of heavy-duty shuttle buses, work truck and ambulances. Ford spokeswoman Jessica Enoch verified the production horizon, telling Autoblog that the particular E-Series configuration "are a higher GVWR than the Transit chassis cab and cutaway (available this summer), which is more Class 2 and a new segment for us." So there you have it.
