So, up "FOR SALE" is a 1996 Ford Explorer XLT. Every thing is still factory inside except for the sound system! It has an aftermarket stereo, that is usb acceptable, also can install a memory card into it, along with being a cd player too! It also has a 1600 watt class d competition Crunch amp, along with 2 individual bass boxes, 1 box faces the back seats with (2) 12" MTX bass speakers, the other bass box is plexiglass & it faces the back along with (2) 12" Audio Bond bass speakers in it. The way I usually play it, people usually hear me way before they ever see me!! It has sunroof, thats fully functional, power everything, a/c, & heat work great too! Underneath the hood you will find the stock 4.0 V/6 engine, nothing has been changed or customized about the vehicle except for the chassis. This was also a 2 wheel drive Explorer, but as you can see now, its a fully functional 4x4 & yes it does work, tho since I have built it, I have run it in nothing but 2 low or 2 high, & have went anywhere I wanted too, but the 4x4 does work too, just never had to use it! The chassis the Explorer sits upon is an M37 chassis. It has a divorced NP200 transfer case that has the option of 2 high or 2 low or 4 high or 4 low. There is a seal in the case where the parking break was once at that is leaking, however I have all 4 seals to replace the old ones, just havent had the time to tear it down & install them, but the one that is primarily leaking could b fixed without the removal of any drive lines or divorce case, however, due to my physical condition, I am unable to get underneath it right now too! Its not very articulated, meaning it dont have a lot of flex to it, but it rides great, & pulls excellent, & also will stop on a dime! Its had all new brakes & wheel cylinders replaced, new drive lines that have been machined balanced, along with all new u-joints installed & have spare u-joints to go with it also, just in case one may ever go out! It stands upon 49" military tires, & the tires with rims weigh almost 400 pounds each, which I have bought some 24" aluminum rims to fit this, but havent gotten any tires, tho the rims will go along with the purchase too! This Explorer is barely in legal limits of S.C. law to operate on the highway! So yes, with insurance & a tag, you can have a street MONSTER! I have drove it all the way to Monroe, N.C. & back home without any problems at all, however, due to no steering stabilizers, & by the speedometer, you can only drive it at around 40 mph, anything over that, it will get a death wobble, which can b corrected with dual steering stabilizers! I also have clean clear title in hand!! The frame really needs to b sand blasted & painted, & the left side front fender has a boo boo where the tire caught it from turning to deep, but no biggie, easy fix & needs to b trimmed out some what!

Ford worker files for UAW dues refund, stirs right-to-work debate

Sun, 24 Aug 2014

Let's start with some history: Ford's Dearborn truck plant, part of the company's massive River Rouge complex, was the center of a strike in 1941 that led to Ford signing the first "closed shop" agreement in the industry. The agreement obliged every worker at the plant to be a dues-paying member of the United Auto Workers. In December 2012, however, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation making Michigan a right-to-work state, which outlawed closed shops. The new law gave workers the right to opt out of union membership and stop paying dues even if they were still covered by union activities like collective bargaining. For employees at the Dearborn plant, the right-to-work clauses take effect at the end of their current contract in 2015.
As a tool-and-die maker at Ford's Dearborn plant for 16 years, Todd Lemire pays dues to the UAW - about two hours' salary per month. However, he's been unhappy with the UAW's support of the Democratic party, and not wanting to wait until next year to be out of the UAW entirely he invoked his Beck Rights, which state that a non-member of a union does not have to pay dues to support non-core activities, such as political spending. But Lemire wasn't happy that Ford still subtracted the total amount of dues, with the UAW reimbursing the difference, so he filed suit with the National Labor Relations Board, feeling that the workaround violates his rights.
Lemire's case is just a week old, so it could be a while before a resolution. Yet, as September 15, 2015 draws near and the right-to-work laws take full effect for Michigan workers - and others wonder whether it could help revitalize the state's manufacturing base - a case like this adds more fuel to the discussion.

Ford dealers offered discounts on tools to fix aluminum

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

With the introduction of the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 (and the likely use of aluminum in future Ford products), Ford is looking to help its dealerships reduce costs related to repairing this more labor-intensive material. Automotive News is reporting that Ford dealers with body shops will require an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 in equipment and training to work on aluminum, and to help alleviate the financial burden of the new F-150, Ford has announced a special 20-percent discount on this equipment.
Dealers will be able to save up to $10,000 on tools such as welders, air-filtration systems and rivet guns and to create aluminum-specific work stations. The new F-150 goes on sale in the fourth quarter, and dealers have until October 31 to take advantage of this deal, according to the report.

'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia

Fri, Jan 16 2015

These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models.
