I am selling my 2000 Ford Excursion 4x4 Limited.  She is a wonderful rig that I still use for fishing and pulling my little boat.  The truck has 180K miles and I replaced the engine with a one year newer, identical engine with only 70K miles on it.  That was last summer and has run wonderfully and very very strong for the last 10K miles with nothing but standard upkeep.  Don't miss out on this legendary SUV!

The good:

-The truck has a leveling kit giving it a lifted look.
-She has large 285/75-R16 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires with 50%-75% tread.
-Newer engine has more that 100K miles of rich life left in her and doesn't leak a drop of anything.
-All windows are power, including the rear flare windows.
-Front and Rear heat and a/c.
-Great CD player with front and rear controls.
-Child locks
-Three rows of seats with plenty of room for anything behind the rear seat.
-The third row rolls out easily for one person removal and flat floor allowing for more storage.
-Middle row also folds flat for even more storage or sleeping in on that long road trip or fishing trip.
-Endless supply of torque, she will rarely even touch 2,000 RPMs on the highway.
-I drive like a sweet little old lady that has a difficult time finding the gas pedal so the new engine probably hasn't even seen more than 3,000 RPMs
-Roof rack
-Tow package
-Tinted windows
-KBB Values are ----Fair($5,902)  Good($6,677)  Very Good($6,852)   Excellent($7,152)

The Bad:

-Will need fresh brakes soon, they are starting to make noise.
-Rear hatch needs new support to stay up without a prop stick.
-Dent on roof of truck was there when I bought the truck.
-Drivers side window makes a noise like the motor needs cleaned when it gets hot outside.

THE TRUCK IS FOR SALE LOCALLY SO I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION AT ANY TIME IF IT SELLS.  THANK YOU!

Ford EcoBoost successful because of Soviet laser weapons system expert?

Sun, 28 Jul 2013

Mike Kluzner is a man of many talents. Not only is he the software engineer responsible for fuel system diagnostics for Ford globally, he "got his start designing laser weapon systems capable of disabling the navigation systems of enemy satellites" for the former Soviet Union. Quite a résumé, wouldn't you say?
You may be asking yourself the same question that popped into our minds upon reading about Mr. Kluzner: What do laser weapon systems have to do with Ford and its EcoBoost engines? We'll let the man answer himself. "The same process for analyzing key physical relationships works for what we do today in engine combustion, catalyst chemistry and mechanics," says Kluzner. "These are all part of Ford's software engineering expertise." Who are we to argue?
Ford also employs an engineer who previously designed software to detect damage to the heat tiles on the International Space Station, as well as one who's past work involved particle physics, says the automaker in the press release below. David Bell (pictured above right), global boost system controls engineer for Ford, describes the software running EcoBoost as "the secret sauce" that makes the technology work as the driver intends and demands.

Ford owns Automotive Loyalty Awards, Audi and Subaru are king of conquests

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

Customers are a commodity in the automotive industry, and like any other commodity, automakers trade them back and forth. Only nobody wants to give up their customers - just to keep the ones they have and try to attract others.
That's what the Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards are all about. Every year the industry research body names the automakers, brands and models that manage to keep their customers coming back for more - and attract buyers to switch from other makes. Ford usually does pretty well, but this year it rose above even its own track record.
Not only did Dearborn win the Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer award, but also the Overall Loyalty to Make. Ford also took the African American category, and the F-150 was named the top full-size half-ton pickup in customer loyalty. Ford COO Mark Fields (pictured above) accepted the awards and gave the keynote address at the awards ceremony.

Ford overlooks the Big Apple in the 2015 Mustang Convertible [w/video]

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Ford has done it again. Like in April of 1964, there is once again an all-new Mustang Convertible sitting on the observation deck of New York City's Empire State Building. This has been in the making for a little while, with the first report that Ford would recreate the sky-high publicity stunt coming out a few weeks back.
The process of getting the Mustang up there wasn't exactly easy. A Troy, MI-based company chopped up the new droptop, a necessary evil to get the Mustang on the Empire State Building's only freight elevator that runs to the 86th floor observation deck. But it was slightly more involved than just taking the car apart. The company, DST, built a mockup of the ESB's freight elevators, and then practiced its cuts on a second pre-production Mustang Convertible (measure twice, cut once).
The result of all this work are the images you see above. Yes, sitting in the crisp, morning air of midtown Manhattan, over 1,000 feet up, is this brilliant, Triple Yellow Mustang. Take a look up top for our gallery of images from today's event. You can also scroll down for videos and images of the process leading up to the ESB debut.
