Looking for a great family truck that will haul around a bunch of people, pull the boat, and get good mileage?  This would be the truck for you.  It is an exceptionally clean, one owner, zero rust, LOW MILE Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer.  You’re not going to find one like this anywhere, I can almost guarantee it.  This truck came out of the south and has ZERO rust.  Take a look at the pictures, even underneath is spotless.  Inside, outside, underneath, on top, front and back are all like brand new.  I cannot stress enough how clean this truck really is.  You’d have to see it to believe it, it’s nicer in person than it is in the pictures.  Please look carefully at all of the pictures to see how nice this one really is!

The mechanicals of the Excursion are in great order.  The front end is tight, no shaking or vibrations, steering is spot on.  It doesn’t wander going down the road like most of them either.  There are no weird noises going down the road at all.  The brakes stop straight and true with no pulsing or squeaks.  It’s got the 6.0 liter Powerstroke Turbo Diesel under the hood that starts right up, doesn’t smoke or miss, and runs like an absolute champ.  The motor is bone stock with no chips or programmers.  It has the round EGR cooler in it, which is a much better design than the original square design.  It doesn’t blow any coolant or build pressure in the cooling system at all.  All fluids are clean and full, and she’s ready to roll.  The transmission shifts great, doesn’t slip or bang through gears.  Tires are Pirelli’s and look brand new with over 90% tread left.  According to the CarFax, it’s been serviced at the original dealership since it was new…and it shows.  You’re not going to find another one that runs like this.

The exterior, like the rest of it, is in next to spotless shape.  In fact, you’d damn near have to get a magnifying glass to see any imperfections.  The panels are all straight with no dings, dents, or scratches that I can see.  There’s one very tiny (VERY VERY TINY) ding under the tail light that I’ve put in the pictures, but honestly it’s the only imperfection that I can find on the entire truck.  Someone loved this thing, because it’s probably the nicest 2004 vehicle that I have ever seen.  I cannot find any paint or bodywork on this thing, anywhere.  It all shines very well and could pass for a new one if they still made them!  The underside of this truck looks like it just rolled out of the showroom also.

The inside of this Excursion is as amazing as the rest of it.  The carpets are stain free, headliner is clean, seats are like new, and the steering wheel isn’t even worn.  This one even still has a hint of new car scent in it.  It doesn’t smell like a smokers vehicle, though I cannot vouch for every butt that has hit the seats.  There are no tears, rips, burns, and hardly a wear mark on the inside of this one.  The drivers seat looks new, but you can tell it’s been sat in.  The rest of them appear to be brand new, and I’d be surprised if they had more than two people in them since they were new.  All of the electronics work great, every button seems to work.  Both of the A/C units are cold, heat is hot, seats are heated and power, and the radio sounds great.

All in all, you’re not going to find a nicer Excursion out there.  I’d put this one up against any that would like to think theirs is better.  It’s clean, straight, seats 8, and will pull a house over.  If this is the sort of vehicle you’ve been looking for, I can assure you that this is the nicest one you’ll lay your eyes on.  This is a NO RESERVE auction.  Whatever this one brings will be what it sells for.  If for any reason you get here (to Indianapolis) and it’s not as perfect as I described it…you don’t own it.  I try to describe everything as I see it, and try and put myself in my customer’s shoes.  I don’t like surprises, and I know you don’t either.  Look at my feedback, it should tell you that I’m a no BS kind of guy.  Please have finances ready before bidding, and keep in mind that I do NOT take trades.  Feel free to call me 317.260.9235 with any questions or email me at any reasonable time.  I have taken LOTS of pictures of it, please review them and look at them carefully so you know EXACTLY what you can expect when you come pick it up.  I’d be glad to assist with airport pickup or delivery to a shipping terminal.  Whoever wins this will NOT be disappointed.  It’s a no excuses, go anywhere Excursion that someone will be proud to own.  Happy bidding!

Least reliable cars and trucks of 2022

Tue, Nov 15 2022

Related: Most reliable cars and trucks of 2022   Every year, Consumer Reports ranks new cars based on their predicted reliability. We often see Toyota, Lexus, and a few other automakers near the top. But on the other side of the coin, the list of least reliable vehicles sometimes contains surprises.   The organization surveys its members to determine the vehicles that exhibited the most problems over the prior year. Owners are asked about creaks and rattles, the durability of parts and trim, and mechanical issues. Consumer Reports assigns a weight to each problem and then uses them to create a score, with 100 being the best. Some familiar names appear on the list of least reliable vehicles (in order with the lowest predicted reliability score at the top), but there are a few eyebrow-raising models, followed by CR's score: Ford F-150 Hybrid: 4 Hyundai Kona Electric: 5 Lincoln Aviator: 8 Nissan Sentra: 9 Ford Explorer: 16 Chevrolet Bolt: 17 Chevrolet Silverado 1500/GMC Sierra 1500: 19 Jeep Gladiator: 21 Mercedes-Benz GLE: 23 Jeep Wrangler: 24 Consumer Reports noted that sedans are the most reliable vehicle category and found that trucks are far lower on the list. That said, the survey showed that trucks from American brands tended to have better reliability scores, so it’s surprising to see GMÂ’s big two and the Ford F-150 on the list. Part of their problematic ownership experience could be due to the fact that all three trucks have received recent updates, and the Ford was completely redesigned for 2022. New tech, fresh drivetrain components, and other improvements can upset the balance of reliability and make newer models look less dependable than their older counterparts. Shelby GT350 stars in 2015 Monterey Motorsports Reunion

Sun, Aug 16 2015

Scoping out classic racing machinery sitting at Monterey Car Week is a lovely experience. We're always stoked to see some of these priceless pieces of metal wherever we can, up close and personal. But we all know that where they really belong is on the racetrack. That's where the Monterey Motorsports Reunion comes in, and this year's event was a thrilling spectacle. Sponsored as always by Rolex and held at the legendary Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, this year's reunion brought together a wide array of tantalizing machinery from the annals of racing history. There were Can-Am racers – some of the fastest and most powerful competition equipment ever devised – of every color, and more racing Porsches than you could shake a titanium connecting rod at. But the biggest part of the spectacle was the Shelby GT350. That most venerable of classic Mustangs served as the featured marque this year as it celebrated its 50th anniversary. Auspicious timing, considering that Ford has now brought it back. But fans of the original will want to check out the dozens of snake-bitten pony cars doing their thing on one of America's finest racing circuits. Check out the GT350s, captured through the lens of our own master shutterbug, Drew Phillips, in the gallery above, and the full array of reunited vintage racers in the second gallery below the video.

Ford to cease Australian automaking operations after 90 years

Thu, 23 May 2013

Ford began manufacturing cars in Australia in 1925 with the Model T. In 2016, Ford will stop manufacturing cars Down Under, including the Falcon and the Territory SUV. Ford Australia CEO Bob Graziano has reportedly confirmed the closure of the company's Broadmeadows assembly plant and the Geelong engine plant, both in the state of Victoria. There will be 650 jobs lost at Broadmeadows, 510 sacrificed at Geelong. Of the roughly 3,000 workers the Blue Oval has in Australia, it's said it will try to retain about 1,000 of them at its R&D and product development facilities.
The writing hasn't just been on the wall, it's been a regular item in all the papers and on Ford's bottom line for years. As recently as 2003, Ford sold nearly 75,000 Falcons, but over the next four years, annual sales dropped by something like 10,000 units, and over the last two years, it has sold less than 20,000 per year. It isn't only Ford that has suffered - sales of the other large, locally produced sedan, the Holden Commodore, have also gone over the precipice, triggering the same kind of angst about Holden's continued existence. Ford is the smallest of Australia's local automakers, Holden and Toyota the others, and has posted losses of $AUD141 million last year ($136M US) and $AUD600 million ($580M US) in the past five years. Graziano said the cost of manufacturing is simply too expensive in the country, twice as high as Europe and three times as high as Asia, and there no way to make a business case for staying in the country.
In January 2012, Ford Australia announced it would stay in the country until at least 2016, but by July of the same year, most outside observers were quietly declaring that 2016 would be the last year of Ford Down Under, and even the speculation was making other observers nervous. Ford received money from the Victorian government last year to aid its refresh of the Falcon and Territory, which will continue on schedule for the 2014 model year. A front- and all-wheel-drive sedan on a global platform is predicted to replace the Falcon, with some other SUV expected to replace the Territory. The company says it still intends to expand its lineup in the country.
