Very Rare 2000 Ford Zx-2 S/r Edition--complete Car Project--read & See Pics on 2040-cars
Northumberland, Pennsylvania, United States
Here is an opportunity to own and drive a piece Ford history. There were lots of Escorts sold, but only a very limited number of S/R editions. With input from Jack Roush, the Ford special vehicles team made this a one-year only project, the S/R (street racer) was only sold publicly in the year 2000, with only 2000 total produced........1,000 Sulfer yellow, 500 red, 500 black. Factory updates over the regular ZX-2 include: Iceman intake B & M short throw shifter Leather shift boot Centerforce clutch Visteon PCM Tokico struts Eibach lowering springs Borla exhaust 205/55R15 tires Exclusive daizy wheels Blue Ford valve cover 150 mph speedometer S/R seats and mats front & rear disc brakes This vehicle has been in our family for the last 10 years and has been maintained with regular oil changes. Rear brakes have been completely rebuilt just 200 miles ago, front rotors and pads about a year ago, the battery is less than 2 years old, and the tires have only a couple thousand miles on them. Runs and drives great. Uses no oil and has no fluid leaks. Every thing on the car works well except the passenger window motor is tired. Odometer currently shows 134,500 miles, but the car looks and drives like half of that! I don't wish to have the car repaired and would prefer to sell it as is. This allows someone to do the repairs and still have a great driver at a very affordable price. After-market front bumper and fog light will cost right around $200.00 and I had a body shop estimate of $700.00 for the labor to repair the dent, replace the front bumper, and do the paint-work. Email any questions and look at all the pictures to fully understand the quality of this vehicle and the repairs needed. Car is fully drivable and inspected so you could come get it and drive it home. My mechanic says it would pass inspection with the removal of the second fog light. Apparently in PA they both need to be functional or removed. My sales requirements are pretty simple. I need a non-refundable deposit of $200.00 within two days of auction end. The balance is due within 10 days and may be presented when you pick up the car if it is in the form of cash, certified check, Postal Money orders. No personal checks accepted unless they are mailed to me and cleared before delivery of car. Again, check out all the pictures and happy bidding.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
Preserving automotive history costs big bucks
Wed, 29 Jan 2014
$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.
Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books
Fri, 08 Aug 2014The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.
