You know you want to have a piece of history with the purchase of this 1966 ford van. I purchased this van some 6 years ago and it was in really bad shape so i spent some time and a bunch of money putting it back on the road again. I've replaced windshield, installed floor shifter on floor because shifter on column kept hanging up. found a 8-track player on e-bay and it works great! also comes with a bunch of 8tracks i've found over the years.Van came with no seats so i found these from a earlier model and just stuck them in. I also installed a bench seat in the back that turns into a bed with the push of a button(YEAH BABY!) Never used it cause im married and got kids but knock yourself out! there was no interior when i got it just rusted metal inside so many labor hours of grinding and wire wheeling i treated and coated the walls and floor with herculiner bed liner and inslulated and covered walls with carpet covered wood panels to keep out a some heat in the summer time. put same liner on roof. also lined engine compartment with high tech inslulation as seen in pictures of motor. Installed auxilary cooling fan on radiator for sitting in traffic. Has front/rear drum brakes all have been re-worked and rebuilt master clyinder. All switches, gauges.lights work and i also installed up dated fuse panel. When i finally got van on the roar it only went to 55 miles per hour.(THAT SUCKED) so i spent alot more money to getting rear end replaced with one that get's up to speed now. Bumpers were made by a welder buddy of mine out of stainless steel pipe. and he also made the aluminum gas tank for it also because the original tank had a hole the size of my fist. put lots of new engine parts on and i have all reciepts on the parts and work that was done. Still have lots of stuff done to van but not enough space to list. I didn't want a show van i just wanted something cool to drive around in. i drive it sometimes on weekends and all tags are current. It gets about 100 looks a mile and lots of people come up and say...HEY DUDE I USED TO HAVE ONE OF THESE! Its time to pass it on to the next Dude because my wife wont let my kids in it because of no air bags and i hate driving alone. I cant ship van so your gonna have to pick it up from my location. But worth the trip.

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost loses big power on 87 octane
Mon, Jan 5 2015The 2015 Ford Mustang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder is a pretty potent package on paper. With 310 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque, it boasts better performance numbers than the 3.7-liter V6, but with better fuel economy as an added benefit. However, if you're in the market for one of these boosted 'Stangs, you should probably keep in mind that it really prefers to gulp premium, 93-octane fuel. It can drink 87-octane swill in a pinch, but you're going to find significantly less power underfoot when pulling away. While it's not shocking that the ponies are dialed back with a lower grade of gasoline, an alleged page from a Ford training manual obtained by Mustang 6G purports to show just how much power is lost, though. According to this document, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost makes 275 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque when running on lower octane fuel. That's a substantial reduction of about 11.3 percent compared to when the engine drinks 93 octane. Interestingly, according to Mustang 6G, that finding was a bit better than expected, because a Ford engineer reportedly said power would be down about 13 percent without altering peak torque. In speaking with Autoblog, Paul Seredynski of Ford powertrain communications, objected to part of this document. While he couldn't confirm the specific losses listed for the Mustang EcoBoost, "torque remains unchanged" with lower octane gasoline, Seredynski said. He speculated this training manual page was "possibly from before the engine was certified" and therefore showed incorrect figures. Serendynski did confirm that the automaker recommends using 93 octane, and like all modern engines, the software adapts if it's lower. "Peak power would be reduced" by using a lesser grade, he confirmed. Ford and GM link bonus checks to quality scores
Tue, 29 Apr 2014The poor first quarter earnings of Ford and General Motors are having an effect all the way up the food chain. Both automakers struggled with recalls in the first three months of the year, and, according to The Detroit News, they have responded by increasing the percentage of bonuses tied to vehicle quality for salaried workers, including top executives.
GM announced that 25 percent of bonuses (up from 10 percent) for all salaried workers would be tied to its vehicle quality standards. The automaker revealed in its financial report that it spent $1.3 billion on recall-related repairs in the first quarter, and net income was down 86 percent.
Ford also increased the quality proportion of bonuses for about 26,000 salaried workers all the way up to CEO Alan Mulally from 10 percent to 20 percent. The company announced in its report that the amount paid out in warranty and recall claims was about $400 million higher than expected in the first quarter. Its net income fell 39 percent from the previous year. "The change reflects how critical quality is to our overall business," said spokesperson Todd Nissen speaking to Autoblog.
Ford Shelby GT350R, GT successor, F-150 Raptor and more rumored for Detroit debut
Mon, Dec 1 2014According to a pair of reports from Hearst's car mags, Car and Driver and Road & Track, Ford has a whole mess of good stuff on deck for the Detroit Auto Show in January. And it all sounds awesome. First, expect to see a hotter version of the Shelby GT350 in Detroit, likely called GT350R. Think of this as the already-hot Shelby with even more track-focused bits baked in – brakes, tires, aero, etc. Everything about the GT350 sounds great, so expect this R variant to be something seriously fierce. As R&T suggests, if the GT350 is the company's new Boss 302, the R is the Laguna Seca. But that's not even close to the biggest news. Road & Track believes a proper Ford GT replacement will debut in Detroit – a road-going version of the Le Mans GTE-class car the Blue Oval is working on for 2016. We've heard about this before, but having the street-legal car debut in Detroit would be absolutely huge news. The performance story continues, though, with R&T suggesting that the next-gen Ford F-150 Raptor will bow in Detroit. Details are scarce about what, exactly, the aluminum-bodied desert stormer will hold, but we expect good things. Finally, Ford's hot hatches might make some news in the Motor City, too. Car and Driver seems to think the all-wheel-drive Focus RS will bow in The D, and that an updated version of the Fiesta ST will also show its face. Road & Track, meanwhile, believes the Focus RS showing will be saved for a European auto show – think Geneva – and our gut feeling is to agree with the R&T theory. All of these rumors point to Ford officially announcing its dedicated performance division – like Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, and so on. We've heard reports of a new, global performance brand from the company already, with the name 999 thrown out as a possibility. In any case, if these rumblings prove to be true, there's going to be a ton to drool over from Ford in January. Stay tuned.
