All vehicle trades considered, including classic and performance +/- cash.

These ex-police cars have to be some of the best buys out there. You get a reliable late model vehicle with a known history and good maintenance, at a price well below a comparable civilian car. They can also be a lot of fun.

This 2010 Crown Victoria is a genuine P71 Police Interceptor. The police department took delivery of this car with 3 miles on it and have owned it since, accumulating 122,000 miles in that time. It received the department's routine care and maintenance and has never been in an accident. It was NOT a taxi, rental car, or anything else; a clean Autocheck report is available as well.

It doesn't take more then one look to see that this was once a cop car. With its black and white paint scheme it commands attention while driving down the road. If you haven't driven one of these, you won't believe the affect it has on other drivers. The body has typical police wear-and-tear which includes a small dent in the rear driver side door, a few light hail marks, and some scratches. The paint overall looks quite nice though. More importantly, this car is solid and rust-free (many of these cars have issues). Take a look at the underside picture and you'll see what I mean.

The interior also has typical police wear-and-tear, meaning a worn drivers seat and various holes from equipment mounting, but a like-new rear seat (since the police use a different type of rear seat). It has rubber flooring throughout. Features include power adjustable pedals, power drivers seat, power windows, power mirror, air conditioning, and a stereo that sounds much nicer than you'd expect. All lights on the car work. This includes the spotlight, red front dome light, and flashing trunk lights. A trailer receiver with light hookup is also present. Wheels are standard police issue 17" steelies with police interceptor center caps and good tires.

The P71 Police Interceptor package comes with the 4.6L modular motor and a special police tune which improved overall power, increased idle, and raised shift points to give it an edge over the base Crown Victoria. It also came with Ford's "Severe Duty" suspension, bigger brakes, high output alternator, and aluminum driveshaft. Also this is a Flex Fuel vehicle so you can run gasoline, E85, or any point in between.

This is a nice reliable car in great shape. If you ask around or do any research, you'll soon see these cars are very well regarded. It really makes a great all around car; it's an excellent daily driver with lots of space that you can have a lot of fun with, and can also give an extra sense of security if parked outside. But best of all, it's very affordable.

Lincoln Continental production likely to shift to Flat Rock

Fri, Jun 12 2015

Lincoln production may be returning to Michigan, according to a new report from Automotive News. While the brand's current big sedan, the MKS, is built alongside the Ford Taurus, Ford Explorer, and their Police Interceptor counterparts at the Blue Oval's Chicago, IL factory, the production version of the Continental won't be screwed together in the Windy City. According to AN, "industry sources" claim the Continental will join the Ford Mustang and Ford Fusion – on which the big Lincoln is loosely based – at the company's Flat Rock, MI factory. The move isn't just based on convenience, though. Ford is selling a lot of Explorers, and shifting Lincoln production away from Chicago Assembly frees up production capacity for the popular SUV. "Chicago Assembly Plant is vital to our global manufacturing footprint and will continue to manufacture the Ford Taurus, Ford Explorer and Police Interceptor vehicles even after we phase out production of the MKS in 2016," Ford told Automotive News. "We will continue to match production to demand." Looking at the numbers further backs up the argument against Lincoln production in Chicago. Last year alone, Ford built nearly 285,000 Explorers and over 73,000 Taurus sedans, compared to just 8,300 Lincolns. Finally, as AN tells it, Ford is almost telegraphing the Continental's arrival in Flat Rock. The facility has a four-week shut down scheduled from June 15 through July 13, which is twice as long as the typical summer vacation, while there's another two weeks off slated for September. Jay Leno sees how the other half lives with CHP cop cars new and old

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Comedian Jay Leno is changing gears from driving fast cars to checking out some of the police cruisers that regularly chase down and dish out punishment to those fast cars. In this episode of Jay Leno's Garage, we get the lowdown on the modifications made to the Ford Explorer for the Interceptor package (which looks pretty tough in its California Highway Patrol livery).
The new Ford is cool, but cooler still are the pack of classic CHP cars that Jay has along for the episode. A 1982 Mustang, 1966 Dodge Polara, 1970 Mercury Monterey and 2000 Crown Victoria are all in the shop. Better still, Jay lays out an argument for ones of the classic cruisers as the best cop car of all time. Get your guesses in now, and then scroll down to watch and learn.

Alan Mulally talks about why Ford's Falcon had to die

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

When Ford made the decision to end production of the Falcon sedan and Territory CUV in Australia, it wasn't a popular move Down Under. The large, four-door Falcon had been in production for 50 years, and while Ford has reaffirmed its commitment to the Australian market, it's understandable that some people still aren't all that crazy about the Blue Oval's decision.
Speaking to CEO Alan Mulally after Ford's Go Further event in Sydney, Australian site Go Auto reports that the decision was not one made lightly, and that the automaker is doing everything possible to respect the Falcon and Territory's "stakeholders." It's an interesting piece that shows a softer side of a corporation, while demonstrating that Ford is doing everything in its power to make the end of production as smooth as possible for all parties.
Head over to Go Auto for the full series of remarks from Mulally, and then let us know what you think of Ford's handling of the Falcon and Territory discontinuations, in Comments.
