We are offering for sale a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. This is a true Police Interceptor, P71, with the rare street appearance package. This car came to us as a one owner vehicle we obtained from a small local municipal police department who maintained the car on a regular basis and kept the car stored in a garage when not in use. The car has 124955 miles on its certified odometer/speedometer which when you divide the mileage by the age you find the car was only driven approximately 8330 miles a year.

We have kept and used this car for about 6 months and this car needs nothing. The car has new Pennsylvania safety and emissions inspection stickers good until 07/2014. Our in house service department has gone over the car completely and replaced all four shocks, put on new front and rear brakes and added four new tires, these are Good Year Eagle RSA's, not a cheap knockoff. The air blows ice cold and the heat is blazing hot. The rear defrost works as do all the power windows and power locks. We also replaced the battery. The engine runs great and the transmission shifts perfectly and according to the pd was replaced about two years ago.

The interior of the car is in excellent condition with the rear area looking new and the front seats are in excellent shape. We added a center console between the seats. The exterior of the car has one small hole in the trunk lid from a radio antenna which has been plugged, nothing else. As I said we drove this car on and off for six months and this car needs nothing. It averages 19.5 miles per gallon week in and week out. It has a full size spare and jack in the trunk.

If you  are looking for a Police Interceptor that is in great condition and don't want to spend a bunch of money this could be your car. There is no doubt this car is road ready and has tons of life left in it. If  you have an interest in this or any of our other P71's please call Carlevale Custom Cars at 717-685-1341, or you can always visit our web site. Since this car is for sale on our lot we reserve the right to end the auction should the car sell.

Inside Ford's high-tech climate chamber

Sat, Dec 27 2014

There are two ways an automaker can test its vehicles in extreme climates: it can send said vehicle around the world – from Death Valley to the Arctic Circle – in search of the harshest weather, or it can recreate those conditions in an enclosed environment. We're sure that many automakers undertake some combination of both, but in this latest video clip, Ford shows us around inside it's state-of-the-art climate chamber. At its Driveability Test Facility in Allen Park, MI – inaugurated in 2010 just across the street from the Roush Technology Center – Ford can simulate all sorts of extreme conditions. It can drop the temperature down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit or raise it up to 130, and take it up to a simulated 12,000 feet above sea level or drop it down to 280 feet below. blast it with 150-mile-per-hour winds. It can control the level of humidity, approximate the intensity of the sun and even blast the test vehicle with artificial snow, just like your favorite ski resort. The facility strikes us as an engineering feat as impressive as some of the vehicles it's used to test, but don't take our word for it – scope it out for yourself in this brief two-minute video clip, which even includes some helpful tips for winter driving this holiday season and beyond. Shelby GT350R offers first mass-produced carbon fiber wheels

Fri, Jul 10 2015

In the world of race engineering, reducing total weight is good, but reducing unsprung weight is flippin' fantastic. That's the reason Ford is pushing the envelope in terms of technology for the Shelby GT350R's wheels. Joining the likes of Koenigsegg in the offering, Ford has teamed with Australian outfit Carbon Revolution to produce the CF rollers en masse for the first time. Destined for the hubs of the new Shelby GT350R, the new hoops weigh just 18 pounds each, versus the 33-lbs weight of a similar aluminum wheel. On top of slashing up to 60 pounds in unsprung weight, there's such a reduction in rotational inertia – 40 percent, versus aluminum wheels – that Ford actually has to recalibrate the magnetic ride control system and springs. Thanks to, we're guessing, scenes of crashed Formula One cars disintegrating and spewing shards of carbon fiber all over the track, Ford seems quite keen to do away with the idea that CF is strong, but brittle. The company conducted extensive shock testing, ramming a wheel into a curb at speed. According to the Blue Oval, the lightweight wheel allowed the suspension to respond so quickly that the impact was "greatly diminished," causing the tester to run the experiment again, thinking there'd been a mistake. After recording brake rotor temperatures of 900 degrees Celsius (over 1,650 degrees Fahrenheit, or well past the point that aluminum or magnesium would melt) during testing, Ford and Carbon Revolution actually redesigned the wheels to "a thermal standard more suitable for motorsports," by adding an "incredibly thin, nearly diamond-hard coating that reliably shields the resin from heat." The same process was used to protect engine turbine blades on the Space Shuttle. While the work by Ford and Carbon Revolution should make GT350R customers excited, the work being done here could have serious implications for performance cars in the future. That's the real takeaway here, and is something that should leave fans of all performance vehicles excited.

Ken Block hoons his Ford F-150 RaptorTrax on the slopes

Wed, 08 Oct 2014

Ken Block drives Fords. Hoons the heck out of 'em, actually. Mostly Fiestas, but also the occasional Focus or Mustang. But earlier this year, the Gymkhana guru revealed his baddest Ford yet: an F-150 SVT Raptor on tracks. And true to form, here he is putting it to the test in the latest video from Monster Energy and Hoonigan Racing.
Filmed at Baldface Lodge in Nelson, BC, the video pairs Block up with snowboarders Zak Hale and Ethan Deiss for some deep-powder action. You'll want to watch the video for yourself, but the bottom line is that the RaptorTrax beats the heck out of waiting on line for the ski lift. It's enough to make us start to look forward to winter... almost.
