1992 Ford Crown Victoria P75 Touring Sedan, Very Low Miles, Detective Unmarked on 2040-cars

FOMOCO's “Special” Crown Victoria … The 1992 Touring Sedan (P75) This is a rare opportunity to win
what could be the lowest mile Ford Crown Victoria P75 Touring Sedan in the
country. If you’re NOT familiar with this 1 year only Special from the Ford
Motor company, read the description “P75
history…” at the end of the description. This is not your standard P71 interceptor !!! I bought this vehicle several years back from
a retired Police detective in Buffalo New York who managed to rack up only 29 300
miles. This was his private car and never served detective duty. I’m a car
collector and couldn’t resist buying it. I hardly drove (less than 200 mls)
it over the last 6 years to preserve it’s low mileage. It was stored away, I
just kept the fluids topped off and started it regularly. The car appears to be stock except a
few tasteful, modifications done by the previous owner which seem to reflect his
police background: · Like new dual Flowmaster mufflers and turndowns before the rear
axle (they still look like new). They add a nice rumble without causing
resonance or drone in the interior · Upgraded Pioneer stereo (must have been done in the 90’s since it is an AM FM casette unit) · Various P75 & Interceptor commemorative emblems /decals
(They are all 3M adhesive emblems and could be removed for a stock look) I do
have all original body emblems. · Ford Racing cold air intake According
to a sticker on the driver side rear window, the car has been “super sealed”
(rust prevention treatment similar to Ziebart) when new and it shows. I don’t
see any rust on the body. However, I wouldn’t describe this Crown Vic as flawless show car,
it’s a 22 year old automobile with little marks here and there, but very little
effort could turn this into one of the cleanest, probably lowest mile
P75’s in the country. Or
you just enjoy it for what it is, a powerful rear wheel drive fully loaded V8
police interceptor with less than 30.000 mls! They don’t build them like this
anymore. I
have the clear title in my hands, but currently registration is expired. You’re
welcome to come by and inspect the car in person, or inquire about details in
writing through Ebay. I
reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Interior: I
rate it 8 out of 10. Very clean, flawless headliner, minor stains on carpet,
new floor mats. Rear bench and passenger seat are like new. Driver seat has
slight discoloration seems a shade darker as the rest, however it is the
original (P75 exclusive seat) I tried to capture it but you can’t see it on the
photos. The P75’s had every factory
option available in 1992: ·
Power Steering ·
Power Seats with lumbar support ·
Power windows ·
Power lock ·
Power doors ·
Power Mirrors ·
Power Antenna ·
Keyless entry ·
Air condition ·
Anti lock brakes ·
Remote trunk and fuel door release ·
Traction control ·
Rear air suspension ·
Full leather interior All Power options work except the remote trunk
release occasionally cut’s out but the key always works.
AC has been converted to R134 and blows ice-cold. Airbag light blinks. Exterior: I
rate it a 7 out of 10. Car is 22 years old and has minor nicks and here and
there. There are too small to show on the photos however. All P75’s came in a
two tone color scheme. Glass is flawless. Door edges and wheel wells look
extremely clean. Headlight and taillight lenses are clear. Good rubber parts.
Original alloys have some clear coat peeling. Engine, Transmission: 29
528 original miles. Not much else to say. I changed all fluids this week. Engine oil +
filter Transmission fluid + filter, brakefluid, rear axle fluid. No noises or
leaks. The P75’s has all the P71 Interceptor heavy duty parts (springs, shocks,
brakes, cooling, quick ratio steering, swaybars, traction control, dual exhaust
etc.). Tires, Brakes, Suspension: Tires are old and should be replaced if used as a driver, however they have between 30 and 50% thread left.. Brakes are strong, pads seem to be new. The emergency brake cable seized since it was never used and was removed. Air suspension and load levelling work as intended. Steering is tight and direct, no leaks or noises. The P75 history… The 1992 Ford Crown Victoria Touring
Sedan P75 is truly a unique and eclectic car. In fact these are so rare, I did
not even know they existed until I did some homework on the models. Most
people, like myself, that are fans of the Crown Victoria know of the P71
(Police Car), and the other “P” designations of the many base and enhanced
models of Crown Victorias. For only one year in 1992, these few limited
production cars were built as the Crown Victoria Touring Sedan under the P75
VIN Designation. 1992 is also the first year of the newer crown vic with the
4.6 engine. I am assuming due to the 30% extra price over base and the fact
these were more “performance” type cars than the general Crown Vic crowd
attracted, the orders were not many thus it was only made one year. I would say
this was really the first version of what Chevy did with the Impala SS. I would
also say that the total productions of these Touring Sedans are about a % of
the Impala SS too. I really have not been able to find out how many of these
were actually made. What this car is, is essentially a P71 with every available option
known to the Ford Lineup designated under the one time used P75 VIN ID. Later
Crown Vic’s would see things like the HPP package, sport package and special
ordered version of the car per unit, but not to this loaded out level as a
“Touring Sedan” package like the P75. The Touring Sedan has the suspension
of the P71 with the higher rate springs, larger sway bars, quicker ratio
steering, etc plus all the luxury items found on a loaded out Town Car. The
Touring Sedan also boasts the 3.27 rear gear ratio with traction control, 4 wheel
disk brakes, dual exhaust higher performance engine (210HP), heavy duty
cooling, power steering cooling, extra transmission cooling, gauges, larger
wheels and performance tires, ABS, Traction, etc. It had a top speed said to hit in the 130s. (same as P71) Of course things like power windows, power seats with recliners and lumbar, power mirrors, power antenna Door keypad system. The door panels and leather seats are special to the Touring Sedan along with the dark wood trim inside. I do not believe there is an option available that is not on this car. It has it all. I also believe that all touring sedans are a two tone color combination. |

Weekly Recap: Hackers demonstrate auto industry's vulnerability
Sat, Jul 25 2015There's always been a certain risk associated with driving, and this week cyber security came into focus as the latest danger zone when researchers demonstrated how easily they could hack into a 2014 Jeep Cherokee from across the country. The incident raised concerns over the vulnerability of today's cars, many of which double as smartphones and hot spots. During the now-infamous experiment, Chris Valasek and Charlie Miller infiltrated the Jeep's cellular connection and were able to control the infotainment system, brakes, and other functions. The hackers told the Jeep's maker, FCA US, of their findings last year, the company devised a software fix. Though Valesek and Miller hacked a Cherokee (like the one shown above), several FCA products, including recent versions of the Ram, Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and Viper were also affected, illustrating potentially wide exposure that could reverberate across the sector. "For the auto industry, this is a very important event and shows that cyber-security protection is needed even sooner than previously planned," Egil Juliussen, senior analyst and research director for IHS Automotive, wrote in a research note. "Five years ago, the auto industry did not consider cyber security as a near-term problem. This view has changed." Hours after the Cherokee hacking incident was publicized on Tuesday, Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) introduced legislation to direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Trade Commission to establish national standards for automotive cyber security. The bill also would require vehicles to have a cyber-rating system to alert consumers how well their cars' privacy and security are defended. "Drivers shouldn't have to choose between being connected and being protected," Markey said in a statement. "We need clear rules of the road that protect cars from hackers and American families from data trackers." Though FCA and its Jeep Cherokee were in the spotlight this time, they were just the latest to showcase how automotive technology has advanced faster than safety and regulatory measures. IHS forecasts 82.5 million cars will be connected to the internet by 2022, which is more than three times today's level. "Cyber-security will become a major challenge for the auto industry and solutions are long overdue," Juliussen said.
2015 Ford S-Max adds all-wheel drive, adaptive steering
Fri, 03 Oct 2014The Blue Oval's 'One Ford' mantra has seen rapid commonization of the automaker's products across markets, but North America still has to look from afar at most of the company's Max-branded people movers, including this new S-Max. That's a bit of a shame - we like the space efficiency and above-average driving dynamics of the C-Max models we do get, but seeing this updated seven-seat small minivan makes us want the One Ford initiative to extend even further.
The new model's changes include an updated powertrain range including a 1.5-liter EcoBoost four with 158 horsepower, and a larger, 237-horsepower, 2.0-liter model, along with a pair of revised lower-emissions 2.0-liter diesels. The big news, however, is the advent of available all-wheel drive, something that hasn't been offered since the S-Max first went on sale back in 2006.
On the technology front, the S-Max is the first European model to receive Ford Adaptive Steering, a variable-ratio technology we recently sampled in a prototype Fusion that is expected to go into production on the next-generation Edge. The S-Max also receives a new aluminum-intensive integral link rear suspension, packaged to continue to fit up to 32 different seating combinations. Safety equipment is always a prime concern in kinschleppers like the S-Max, and to that end, this new model receives pre-collision assist technology and LED headlamps.
