GENUINE WYOMING HIGHWAY PATROL POLICE CAR FOR SALE

THIS IS THE REAL DEAL, A LOW MILEAGE AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE POLICE CAR WITH EXCELLENT PROVENANCE.  JUST TWO OWNERS SINCE RETIREMENT, RESTORED WITH THE STATE'S KNOWLEDGE AND APPROVAL TWENTY YEARS AGO.  THE EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT IS 50 STATE COMPLIANT AND THE MARKINGS ARE OBSOLETE AND DO NOT REPRESENT ANY AGENCY CURRENTLY IN SERVICE ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES.  IT IS AN ANTIQUE COLLECTOR VEHICLE, TITLED, TAGED AND INSURED AS SUCH.

VINTAGE POLICE CARS HAVE BECOME QUITE POPULAR IN THE UNITED STATES AND OVERSEAS, BUT BECAUSE OF THIER SEVERE SERVICE AND USE BY THE MOVIE INDUSTRY AND TAXI CAB COMPANIES, A SCANT FEW ORIGINALS REMAIN.  OF THOSE, MANY MORE WERE LOST FOREVER TO THE FAILED "CASH FOR CLUNKERS" PROGRAM. TV AND MOVIE STUDIOS HAVE HAD TO USE "CLONED" FOUR DOOR SEDANS AND THE COLLECTOR HOBBY OFTEN HAS HAD TO RELY ON REPLICAS.  THIS IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A BONA FIDE POLICE CAR, WEARING THE MARKINGS AND EQUIPMENT THAT IT DID WHEN IT PROUDLY SERVED. A BONUS IS THE ORIGINAL (NEVER WRECKED) BODY AND NUMBERS MATCHING DRIVELINE.

HISTORY

THIS WAS UNIT 169 FROM THE CHEYENNE OFFICE, DRIVEN BY A SERGEANT.  IT WAS SOLD IN 1989 WITH 90,000 MILES.

THE SECOND OWNER USED IT AS A DAILY DRIVER FROM 1989 TO 1994, ADDING A VINYL TOP, LATE MODEL STEREO, DASH COVER, HIDDEN CLASS TWO HITCH  AND FLOWMASTER MUFFLERS.  IT ALSO RECEIVED NEW BLACK PAINT AND WINDSHIELD AND WAS GARAGED AND NEVER DRIVEN IN THE WINTER.

IN 1984 THE TOP WAS REPAINTED WHITE AND THE FORD WAS RESTORED BACK TO ORIGINAL USING DECALS & ANTENNAS FROM THE STATE, CORRECT VINTAGE EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT AND WAS STORED UNTIL 1996 WHEN IT WENT ON PERMANENT DISPLAY IN A POLICE MUSEUM WHERE IT REMAINED UNTIL 2002.  FROM 2002 TO 2012 IT LIVED IN CLIMATE CONTROL, DRIVEN OCCASSIONALLY IN PARADES AND DISPLAYED AT POLICE SHOWS.

IN 2012 IT WAS SOLD TO SECOND OWNER WHO ALSO GARAGED IT AND ADDED LATE MODEL CVPI 16" RIMS, HUBCAPS, STAINLESS STEEL TRIM RINGS AND NEW NEXEN DIRECTIONAL RADIALS.  SINCE RETIREMENT IN 1989 IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN 38,722 MILES OR A LITTLE OVER 1500 MILES A YEAR IN 25 YEARS.

CONDITION

EXTERIOR  THE CAR HAS ACCUMULATED A COUPLE DOOR DINGS AS YOU WOULD EXPECT WITH A 28 YEAR OLD CAR, BUT THE ORIGNINAL BUMPERS HAVE NEVER BEEN RE-PLATED AND STILL SHINE LIKE NEW.  DITTO FOR THE GRILLE AND WHEEL WELL MOLDINGS.  ALL THE GLASS IS PERFECT.  THE HEADLIGHTS AND ALL PLASTIC FRONT LENSES AND TAILIGHTS ARE PERFECT.  IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL FRONT LICENSE BRACKET. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO RUST WHATSOEVER, TOP, BOTTOM, ANYWHERE, A TRIBUTE TO THE TLC IT HAS ALWAYS ENJOYED AND THE FACT IT HAS LIVED IN ARKANSAS, WHERE SALT IS ONLY USED TO FLAVOR FOOD.

INTERIOR  THE VINYL 60/40 SEATS HAVE DUAL ARM RESTS AND ARE PERFECT.  THEY LOOK LIKE EXPENSIVE PLEATED LEATHER AND THE REAR SEAT MATCHES.  THE CARPETS HAVE WORN SPOTS, BUT ARE NOT WORN THRU.  THE DASH, DOOR PANELS AND HEADLINER ARE PERFECT.  ALL GAUGES, SWITCHES, LIGHTS, CRUISE CONTROL, HORN, HEATER AND RADIO WORK AND THE A/C BLOWS COLD.  IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL (WORKING) THROTTLE CONTROL AND EVEN THE GLOVE BOX LIGHT STILL LIGHTS. THE DOME LIGHT DOES NOT WORK ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR, PER WY HP.

MECHANICAL THE DRIVELINE IS ORIGINAL.  THE ENGINE AND OVERDRIVE TRANS HAVE NEVER BEEN OPENED.  IT HAS RECEIVED REGULAR MAINTAINENCE AND PARTS REPLACED AS NEEDED, INCLUDING BATTERY, STARTER, TAIL PIPES, MASTER CYLINDER AND POWER BRAKE BOOSTER.  THE ENGINE STILL HAS THE WY HP INSTALLED FAUCET AND PLUMBING SO A TROOPER COULD GIVE GASOLINE TO A STRANDED MOTORIST (SEE PICTURE).  THE CAR DOES NOT LEAK, DRIP, SMOKE OR RATTLE.

HERE'S WHAT IT NEEDS

THIS IS NOT A SHOW CAR, BUT IT IS CERTAINLY DRIVE-IN CRUISER AND NEIGHBORHOOD SHOW QUALITY AS IS.  TO BRING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL, AND BE COMPETITIVE,  IT NEEDS A COUPLE MINOR THINGS.  THE 25 YEAR OLD BLACK PAINT HAS HELD UP WELL, BUT COULD USE A CLAY BAR/POLISH TREATMENT AND THE DOOR DINGS REMOVED PAINTLESSLY.  THE ROOF NEEDS TO BE REPAINTED DUE TO POOR VINYL ADHESIVE REMOVAL AROUND THE EDGES.  THE TRUNK NEEDS TO BE RE-LETTERED (AND POSSIBLY RE-PAINTED-OWNER'S PREFERENCE) DUE TO MAGNETS LEFT ON TOO LONG.  MECHANICALLY IT NEEDS NOTHING OTHER THAN QUIETER MUFFLERS (OWNER'S PREFERENCE) AND MAYBE A TUNE-UP.  THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COULD BE DETAILED.

EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT

PER EBAY REGULATIONS, ALL EQUIPMENT IS UNOPERABLE.  THE JETSONIC LIGHTBAR WILL BE SOLD WITH CLEAR LENSES ONLY.  THE DECK LIGHTS ARE LEGAL RED & AMBER.  THE SPOTLIGHTS ARE DISCONNECTED PER ARKANSAS STATE LAW.  THE GE RADIO AND RADAR UNIT ARE CORRECT BUT DO NOT WORK.  FOR TRANSPORT IT WILL BE SOLD WITH A LIGHTBAR COVER AND MAGNETS TO COVER THE DOOR SHELDS.  PLEASE EMAIL FOR FULL LIST OF EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS.

TERMS

I AM SELLING THIS CAR FOR THE CURRENT OWNER.  IT IS SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS IN NW ARKANSAS WITH NO WARRANTY.  TRANSPORT IS BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITY.  THIS IS A 28 YEAR OLD ANTIQUE TAGGED POLICE CAR, SO DO NOT EXPECT IT TO BE PRISTINE.  AN INSPECTION IS ALWAYS RECCOMENDED.

PLEASE REMEMBER, A BID IS A LEGAL BINDING CONTRACT.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, EMAIL FIRST.  IF YOU HAVE ZERO FEEDBACK, EMAIL FIRSTIF YOU DO NOT EMAIL FIRST YOUR BIDS WILL BE CANCELLED!  IF YOU HAVE A RECORD OF NON-PAYNMENT DO NOT BID AT ALL.

NO PAYPAL ACCEPTED.  $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT REQUIRED 36 HOURS AFTER AUCTION ENDS.  PAYMENT IN FULL SEVEN DAYS AFTER AUCTION ENDS.  TITLE WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL CHECKS OR WIRE TRANSFERS HAVE CLEARED.

I AM NOT A DEALER, BUT I HAVE SOLD MANY CARS ON EBAY AND I WILL SELL WORLDWIDE.  I WILL WORK WITH BROKERS AND SHIPPERS, BUT HAVE NO TIME FOR TIRE KICKERS OR PEOPLE WHO DO NOT READ THIS SECTION.

THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AT OUR AUCTION.

How Ford hid the 2015 Mustang from spy photographers

Fri, 20 Dec 2013

Now that we've finally seen the 2015 Ford Mustang, it's fun to go back and look at the spy shots we spent months pouring over, trying to dissect what was under all the camouflage. For the most part, Ford did a good job of concealing the car from spy photographers, and it released a video showing how much work went into doing so.
As crude as the Mustang's camo looked, all of the hard plastic, foam, vinyl and ratchet straps were actually created and put in place by a specific design team. The whole idea was to hide the car's identity, but it certainly ended up acting as a magnet for attention, too. According to Ford's press release, it took less than an hour for spy shots to appear online after the car was taken on public roads for the very first time - this is likely in reference to our first official spy shots of the Mustang from June, shown in the gallery below.
Scroll down for a press release and video, which shows footage of the 2015 Ford Mustang testing with minimal camouflage. This is probably the same track session where we got our first look at the Mustang's face back in August.

Your official Ford Transit specs are here, $29,565* to start

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Ford has released the full list of pricing and specs on its new Transit, the replacement for the long-lived E-Series cargo van. Prices are set to start at $29,565 and can increase rapidly from there, depending on length, engine and wheelbase, among other options.
Let's talk first about those new engines. The base is the familiar 3.7-liter, naturally aspirated V6. It boasts 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and can return up to 14 miles per gallon in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. This engine can also be adapted to run on LPG or compressed natural gas. Of course, there are better alternatives, for a price, the first of which is Ford's well-received, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. It packs 310 hp and a best-in-class 400 lb-ft of torque (available at just 2,500 rpm) while matching the naturally aspirated engine in both city and highway fuel economy.
Then, there's the diesel. With a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel mill at its disposal, the Transit generates 350 lb-ft between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm, along with 185 hp. This engine hasn't been rated by the EPA, although we'd be really, really surprised if it didn't handily best either of the gas-powered engines in fuel efficiency. A six-speed automatic is standard, regardless of engine.
