Ford Motor Company produced 1,999 Crown Victoria Slyliners (Glasstops) in 1955.  This was the first year Ford offered factory air conditioning and very few were ever installed.  This one has that very rare option.  Other factory options include the Fordomatic three speed automatic transmission, power steering, deluxe steering wheel, power windows, power 4-way seat, windshield washers, tinted windows, continental kit, wire wheel covers, rear mount deluxe antenna, fender skirts, back up lights, heater/defroster, cigarette lighter, turn signal indicator, dual exhaust, two tone paint and dual spot lights.  Other rare Ford options/accessories include Select-Air in dash air conditioning, Swift Sure power brakes, fog lights with switch, dual FoMoCo script outside rear view mirrors, front grill guard with wing guards, rear deck guard with wing guards, stainless steel end caps for  the accessory wing guards, rear seat speaker with switch, day/night rear view mirror, locking glove compartment door, tissue dispenser, locking gas cap, Ford color keyed front and rear floor mats, western style trumpet horns (only installed on cars destined for the western states), emergency brake warning light, under hood courtesy lamp, under trunk courtesy lamp, under dash map light, front seat belts, portable spot light, exhaust deflectors, rear fender shields, rocker panel trim, door handle scratch guards, door edge guards, extremely rare illuminated vanity mirror, rare window defroster and zip in white headliner for the glass top section (new not yet installed).

After market modifications include:  Chromed tri power intake with three two barrel carburetors (this replaced the original "Power Pack" optional 4-barrel intake and carburetor which I have and will go with the car),chromed valve covers and oil filler cap, conversion to 12 volt to include a 1956 air conditioning compressor (converted to 134A freon) and electric windshield wipers.  Original radio retrofitted for 12 volt AM/FM.  Original clock converted to 12 volt quartz movement.  Complete anodized exhaust system including glass packs.  An added touch are the custom made 1955 Crown Victoria color keyed rear seat pillows.

The odometer was set to zero upon completion of a frame off ground up mechanical and body restoration and now shows less than 3,000 miles. This is a documented California car. The following are included with this car:  Owners Manual, Shop Manual, Air Conditioning Manual, Electrical Assembly Manual, Body, Trim & Sealant Assembly Manual, Several Color Sales Brochures and a Facts and Features Manual.  Data plate decoded as follows:  64B=Fairlane Crown Victoria transparent top, WE=Tropical Rose lower body, Snowshoe White upper body, AS=White anhd Magenta vinyl interior, 9B=buildt 9 Feb 1955, BKS1629B=Production code.

See articles on this car in Nov 2012 "Fomoco Times" pages 4,5, 6 and inside rear cover (14 pics) and Feb 7, 2013 issure of "Old Cars Weekly News & Marketplace" pages4, 50, 51, 53 (5 pics)  . Social media star Scott Monty leaves Ford

Thu, 22 May 2014

It seems weird to think that an automaker could have a social media star, but Ford does. Or at least it did. Scott Monty, its Global Digital Communications Manager, led the company's team for almost six years and forged a reputation as being one of the most talented people in corporate social media. But the guru recently announced that he would be leaving the automaker for an undisclosed job elsewhere.
"I just decided the time was right. I am going to take a little time with my family, and I am going to start on a new adventure pretty soon," said Monty in an interview with AdWeek. He also explained a little about his theory of how companies should use social media. In his opinion, it should be a chance to go beyond standard marketing and build a relationship with people. Businesses need to have a broad focus for its online message, and using just one service isn't enough to be successful.
Under his guidance, Ford expanded its Facebook presence significantly. According to AdWeek, it launched the 2010 Explorer on the popular site. Also, when the company wanted to investigate selling electric models, it initially gauged the public's reaction on Facebook and then advertised them there first. Monty has been a major supporter of Twitter as well to broaden the company's communication with the public.
