1954 Ford Crestline Victoria 428 Cobra on 2040-cars
Barboursville, West Virginia, United States
I am 72 years old. I did have 5 old cars, now I have 3 and want to get down to 1. I did like to tinker with cars now I would rather play golf. Interior is excellent. I have been told the front seats and console are out of a Thunder Bird but don't know that for sure. Speedometer is about 8-10 miles off because of 3:90gears installed last year. New Gauges except fuel gauge. The original fuel gauge is fine. Exterior is a 10-15 foot car. Up close has a few bad spots to close to see in pictures. Left front trim needs replaced. I have a like new one that I have not installed. Trim and chrome looks good. I had the rear bumper re-chromed. There is an electric popper for the trunk. Engine is a 428 Cobra. There is a list of things I have done to the engine in the last few miles. Transmission - C6 Rear end I have been told is from a pickup truck. It had 2:73 gears I hade them changed to 3:90 gears, New Carburetor, New Valve Springs, Electronic Distributor, Power steering pump sent off and rebuilt, new starter, new fuel pump, new Griffith aluminum radiator, new battery. New heating and cooling unit cost $2,400 last year. I added power brakes, disc in the front, drum in the back. New Mufflers and Tale pipes. New Front tires and new tubes in rear. car has very wide Mickey Thompson tires in the rear. I have a new set of normal size chrome rims for rear. If you want normal size tires. Problems: Passenger side door window is cracked Radio/cassette player work fine as long as you don't turn it off. If turned off it takes a while for it to turn back on. Biggest problem now is that to install heating and cooling unit the installer had to remove the fan blade and install an electric fan. I think it needs a more powerful fan because it runs about 210 degrees on a hot day. Any other questions call Jim @ 304-638-3934 |

These are 2014's best-selling cars and trucks
Tue, Jan 6 2015Now that 2014 is no more than a set of numbers on spreadsheets, at last, the grist mill gets its first real load to chew on. The number one selling vehicle in America last year was the Ford F-Series, a fact that should surprise you only if your family name is Van Winkle and your naps tend to last 38 years, which is how long the Ford pickup has ruled our buying landscape. Even though series sales were down 1.3 percent, it still racked up 753,851 units. That's 2,065.3 sales per day, every day, all year. The Chevrolet Silverado, up 10.3 percent for the year, was still a daylight second at 529,755 units. The cab-and-bed love continued into third place with the Ram 1500-3500 trucks, gaining 23.6-percent year-on-year to clock 439,789 units. The robust turnout at The Bighorn and Jeep helped Fiat-Chrysler increase its sales by 16 percent, past the two-million mark. Our number one car? The Toyota Camry, staying in first place with a 4.9-percent sales boost to 428,606 sales, trailed again by the Honda Accord at number five with 388,374 sales. Accord sales rose six percent, and if it's any consolation to Honda for coming in second - not that it needs one - it is the only manufacturer to have three vehicles in the top ten. The rest of the list: the Nissan Altima with 335,644 sales (+4.7%), the Honda CR-V with 355,019 (+10.2%), the Toyota Corolla/Matrix combo with 339,498 (+5.9%), the Honda Civic with 325,981 (-3.1%), and the Ford Fusion with 306,860 sales (+2.9%). Total sales for the year were up six percent to 16.5 million vehicles, a volume not seen since 2006, aided by a strong December that was up by 11 percent year-on-year. Ford was the top selling brand overall but sales didn't really budge from 2013, while Subaru rocketed up 21 percent to finish with 513,693 sales. At the precious end, BMW, Audi, Porsche and Land Rover all had record years, and Kelley Blue Book thinks we could be looking at 17 million sales for the next two or three years. Looks like it's time to start making hay again... 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid
Thu, 02 May 2013No Prius Killer
As much as we enthusiasts like to rail on the lowly Toyota Prius as the harbinger of death for all we hold dear, there's no denying the machine's absolute and interminable grip on the hybrid hatchback market in the United States. Toyota has so thoroughly sunk its teeth into the segment that you can clearly hear the automaker's incisors clacking against one another with the conclusion of each financial quarter. And there's little wonder why. Buyers can plop down less than $25,000 and have a runabout that can return up to an estimated 51 miles per gallon in the city, leaving every other entry on the market with precious little gristle to gnaw on.
Enter the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid. With its claimed 47 mpg combined, the funky little hatch from Europe already falls behind the 48 mpg city offered by the Prius, but that marginal sacrifice in fuel economy could be a small price to pay for buyers who want a credible alternative to the stalwart Toyota. Unfortunately, like the Fusion Hybrid, the C-Max Hybrid had trouble even approaching its Environmental Protection Agency estimates during our time with the car.
A tribute to William Clay Ford
Tue, 11 Mar 2014The passing of William Clay Ford has been a big event for the company he spent most of his life helping run. Ford spent 57 years working for his family's company. Considering the Blue Oval has been around for over 100 years, WCF's passing is the end of an era for the Dearborn-based manufacturer.
Ford's YouTube channel has issued a short memorial video highlighting the life of the longest-lived grandson of company founder Henry Ford. It follows William Clay from his time as a boy, showing him alongside his grandfather, through his younger years, and into his twilight, as the patriarch of the Ford family.
Take a look below for this touching memorial video on William Clay Ford.
