Offered for auction is a very clean and extremely solid western classic Bronco. This sweet Bronco spent the majority of its life roaming the West between San Diego and Seattle. This Bronco still retains all of its original sheet metal and 302 V8 runs very strong.  I have owned several vintage Broncos and this is one of the sweetest!

Clean uncut examples of vintage Broncos like this are getting more and more difficult to find and continue to be a solid investment.  This 1970 Bronco is just that, a true investment quality vehicle.

Engine: The original equipment engine has been completely rebuilt and has approximately 20K miles on it.  I recently did a compression check and all 8 cylinders which have great compression (150-155 psi).  The previous owner did install an aluminum four barrel intake with a new carburetor which has electric choke, so cold starts are not an issue. The engine does not smoke, burn or leak oil.  It runs very strong and sounds great. Also a new fuel bump and spark plugs have been installed.

Body: This Bronco is extremely solid!  All the original sheet metal and panels are still in place and very straight! The driver side front floor has been patched at the seam as the floor angles up toward the firewall. The passenger floor is still the original and very solid.  The rear bed area is very solid along with the rear quarter panels seams.  The front door post and kick panels are in great condition.   The driver and passenger door strikers are in perfect condition. The tailgate and doors are rock solid with no rust issues.  The both rocker panels are super clean and show no signs of rust.  The driver side rear quarter panel (just below the taillight) did receive a slight bump at one time.  I have a receipt stating the repair from the previous owner.  The base coat clean coat paint on the Bronco is very nice and only shows a couple minor stone chips.

Frame / suspension / axles:  The frame is extremely clean with no rust issues only very minor surface rust.  The Bronco does have a very nice 3.5 inch suspension with Rancho shocks at all 4 corners.  The rear axle is a 9 inch set with 3.50 gears and limited slip which is all very tight. The front axle is a Dana 30 also set with 3:50 gears and limited slip dif. this is also nice and tight.

Transmission / Transfer-case: The transmission is the stock 72 Bronco 3 speed manual. The transfer-case is a stock Dana 20, which works great. The shifter moves in and out off all gears smoothly. The front lockout hubs have recently been serviced and function extremely well, the manual steering column shift effortlessly into all gears.

Wheels / Tires: The aluminum rims are in very nice condition with no scratches or pitting and are mounted to a fantastic set of 235x76x15 mud terrain tires.  The tires have less than 5000 miles on them.

Steering / Brakes: The Bronco has a very nice factory power steering setup.  The steering box and pump are extremely smooth and don’t leak any fluid.  The tie rod ends and drag link are all nice and tight.  The king pin system on the Dana 30 is in great condition very tight.  The Bronco has recently received a complete brake job on the front axle.  The rear brakes are in good condition and show 60% life remaining. This Bronco stops great and drives very smooth and straight.

Electrical: All lights and turn signals work great!  All the gauges are accurate and functional including the fuel gauges for both the front and rear tanks. The wiper, and emergency flasher systems work great! The factory heater works amazing!  The pull cable for the heat control does pull a little hard.  The blower motor and switch function like new. The Sony CD player and stereo works well and sounds great with the door mounted speakers.

Interior / soft trim:  Recently I installed a new black carpet kit complete with new aluminum tie down strips.  The OEM Bronco seats have been redone with new covers. The seat belts have also been replaced for added safety.  The door seals and window felting are in great condition.  The front windshield and gasket has been replaced. The door locks are all functioning and locking with a key.

A hybrid and electric Corvette, plus we drive the Ioniq 5 | Autoblog Podcast #728

Fri, May 6 2022

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. Zac drove the electric 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Greg drove the fire-breathing 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo. The two dive deep into the relatively heavy news week by starting off with a discussion about the upcoming hybrid Corvette before chatting about what the electric Corvette might be like. They have a chat about the possibility of Porsche and Audi officially joining the Formula 1 field. Then, Greg and Zac get into some quick-hitting news to round out the segment by dissecting the updated Kia Soul (now without a turbo), the 30th Anniversary Edition Land Rover Defender and the new CEO at Aston Martin. Following the news and drive reviews, they rope in Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder to give them a quick download of what went down at the first drive for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. Finally, they reach into the mailbag and answer some questions from someone who is less than pleased about infotainment systems in some new cars. And lastly, the gang hears back from someone they helped out in a prior Spend My Money segment on the podcast. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. Autoblog Podcast #327:

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor desert testing heats up

Thu, Jul 9 2015

In case there was any doubt, Ford is taking the development of the second-generation SVT Raptor very, very seriously. The Blue Oval recently completed over 1,000 miles of testing in the boiling heat of the American southwest. Apparently, that mileage was accrued over a 66-mile route designed to mimic the torturous terrain encountered by racers in the Baja 1,000 off-road race. The prototypes, which were built from a mix of existing and next-gen Raptor components, were tested with "fast sandy washes, deep-rutted silt beds, steep climbs in deep sand, and slow meticulous crawls through tight trenches." Ford claims the new truck managed to run the circuit 25-percent faster than the current F-150 SVT Raptor, averaging 50 miles per hour while going as fast as 100 mph in stretches. That said, Dearborn didn't release any dedicated times, so it's unclear just how quickly the 66-mile stage was completed. We do know that durability was a big part of the testing. Ford claims each lap was completed by what sounds like a pretty significant jump, with the trucks ascending a steep ramp onto a two-foot plateau and then completing a step-down to level ground. We have to take Ford at its word here, though. "Steep" can mean any number of things, and we've no idea just how fast the trucks were hitting the ramp or how much air they got. Hopefully, the jumps were aggressive enough to prevent future frame issues. Still, Ford boasting about how rough the Raptor's testing is can be taken as a positive sign for fans of the next-generation of SVT's rugged pickup. NEW F-150 RAPTOR WRAPS UP INITIAL DESERT DURABILITY TESTING DEARBORN, Mich., July 7, 2015 – The 2017 F-150 Raptor – Ford's toughest, smartest, most capable off-road truck ever – recently completed more than 1,000 miles of testing in the southwestern United States. Over 1,028 miles of desert trail designed to parallel the Baja race course in Mexico, the 66-mile route featured a wide range of surfaces including fast sandy washes, deep-rutted silt beds, steep climbs in deep sand, and slow meticulous crawls through tight trenches. The truck topped speeds of 100 mph in places, slowing to 10 mph in others, for an average speed of approximately 50 mph. The 2017 Raptor is 25 percent faster than the current truck based on lap times. At the end of each lap, the new Raptor completed a tabletop jump consisting of a steep ramp up to a two-foot plateau, then a step-off back to level ground.
