What is a “Ford Denver Bronco?”

This 1975 Bronco had apparently been manufactured and prepared by Ford for Bill Stroppe to become a Baja Bronco.  However, Bill Stroppe abruptly and without notice, ceased doing business in November of 1974 for unknown reasons.  Ford was likely trying desperately to liquidate these specially painted vehicles as they were now surplus without a home. Therefore, all of the "initial" Denver Broncos Special Edition Broncos were only 1975 models with manufacture dates on the driver’s side door sticker of 11/##/1974 or earlier.

Apparently, all DSO 763000 Broncos delivered to Golden Motors Ford and then redistributed to other dealers in the area. Several Denver residents remember the Denver Broncos all lined up at the dealership; they all say it was quite a sight to behold.

This Denver has 49k original miles and the motor was rebuilt once to stock specs.  The Heads and Motor are date coded correct and the frame has the correct VIN number stamped on it. So it is numbers matching. The three speed column shift transmission was replaced with a top loader four speed.

I decided to restore this Bronco to help tell their unique story, since the report shows there were only 77 Denver Specials Produced. There are approximately 450-650 Baja Stroppe Broncos Produced from the years 1971-75. It is likely that the 77 “Denver Specials” produced should have been converted to Bill Stroppe Baja Broncos.

The Marti Report states that there were only 77 Denver Specials produced and out of those 77 only two had these options. You are looking at one of the two with rumors of its twin being crushed.  So these Denver’s where not produced by Ford to become Denver’s they were made after the production. Kind of a fun story to tell and most people have never seen or heard of them before…

My Bronco was registered to appear at the Scottsdale Auction. It was denied because the staff didn’t know what it was. They called later asking if I wanted to have it appear in West Palm Beach. So if you looked for it at the auction sorry it wasn’t there. At the R&S Vegas Auction in September of 2013 the bid went to $55,000.00 but did not meet the reserve. This is a beautiful Bronco and the ONLY Denver Restored to this magnitude. Everyone who sees it enjoys its history and the feedback has been great!!!!

I have pictures of every single part that was powder coated or painted.  New Parchment interior, Lots more pictures and some videos available upon request....

Thanks for Reading and I hope you have enjoyed this Denver and Win Broncos!!!

Ford dominates most-stolen SUV list

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

The Ford Escape leads the NICB's list with 1,421 examples stolen.
If you drive a recent Ford SUV or crossover, you may want to keep a watchful eye out for thieves - especially if you live in the New York metro area or in Detroit. A new study from the National Insurance Crime Bureau has named three Ford models as the most likely vehicles in their genre to be stolen, with CUVs in general being especially attractive to bandits.

Ford F-150 extended cab struggles in IIHS small overlap test

Thu, Jul 30 2015

Update: Ford issued a statement to Autoblog to clarify the results of the test and dispute the IIHS repair cost estimates. A quote from a Ford representative has been added to the story. See the full statement below the IIHS press release. Of all the vehicles undergoing crash tests this year, few will be as closely watched as the new 2015 Ford F-150. That's not only because it remains the top-selling vehicle in America year after year, but also because it features an aluminum body instead of steel. While the F-150 performed well in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety test, one factor prompted the institute to undertake a second round of testing that uncovered a problem. Like most full-size pickups, the F-150 is available in several cab styles: the regular two-door, the extended SuperCab and the four-door SuperCrew. The IIHS typically takes the most popular version of a particular model for testing, and in the Ford truck's case that meant the SuperCrew. The F-150 performed well in all the tests the IIHS put it through, including the small overlap test in which the vehicle is driven 40 miles per hour into a five-foot-tall barrier impacting the front left corner of the vehicle. Its overall performance in the tests earned the F-150 a Top Safety Pick rating, missing out on the higher Top Safety Pick + rating only because it doesn't have an automatic braking system. But how do the other versions of Ford's best-seller hold up? Given that even less popular versions of the F-150 still sell more than many other vehicles on the market, the IIHS put an extended cab through the same battery of tests. It performed comparably except in one area: the small overlap test. In that case, the extended cab model's steering column was pushed eight inches into the cabin (dangerously close to the crash test dummy's chest), the dummy's head missed the airbag almost entirely and hit the instrument panel, and the dummy's legs would risk sustaining "moderate" injuries. The reason for the disparity is that "Ford added structural elements to the crew cab's front frame to earn a good small overlap rating and a Top Safety Pick award but didn't do the same for the extended cab," according to the Institute's chief research officer David Zuby. "That shortchanges buyers who might pick the extended cab thinking it offers the same protection in this type of crash as the crew cab.

Best new convertibles for 2024 and 2025

Thu, Jan 25 2024

If you’re here, then youÂ’re already in the right mindset. Convertibles rule, and we have all the best convertibles listed for you further below. Driving around with the top off is an experience you need to live to fall in love with. When the weatherÂ’s right, youÂ’re on a proper bit of road, and the car youÂ’re in is a good one, few automotive experiences can top it. The experience is extra special when you have a musical exhaust note filtering directly into your ears and echoing off the landscape around you. And while rolling the windows down and opening a moonroof can get you part of the way there, it's nothing like feeling the wind wash over you with absolutely no roof overhead. The downsides can be just as harsh as the upsides when youÂ’re in the wrong conditions, though. Convertibles are typically worse to live with in cold climates, and driving around with the top up frequently means you might be subject to more road noise and worse visibility than an equivalent coupe. And when it comes to pure performance, convertibles are inherently compromised from a weight and structural rigidity perspective. All that said, we still think the upsides outweigh the compromises if your number one objective is to simply have fun. ItÂ’s a good thing then that there are a ton of great convertibles for sale these days. And no, the list of possibilities isnÂ’t as long as it used to be. Long-running standbys like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and C-Class Convertibles are gone (replaced by the one CLE-Class). And so are others like the Audi TT Roadster, Fiat 124 Spider and Nissan Z Roadster. Nevertheless, opportunities abound from the ultra-cheap and fun, to physics-defying supercars and everything else in between. WeÂ’ll give you options for which new convertibles we think are the best below, so read on to find out.   Mazda MX-5 Miata Pros: Lightweight and compact; great engine and transmission combo; one of the most raw and pure driving experiences out thereCons: Not great for tall people; infotainment is dated; tiny trunk Read our Mazda MX-5 Miata Review Miata is always the answer, right? In this case, that rings even more true than usual. In fact, you could stop reading this list right here and go buy a Miata and youÂ’d likely be just as happy driving it around as you would be in any of the more expensive offerings that follow. ThatÂ’s just the magic of the MX-5.
