Available is a rare Bronco. It's a 1974 Explorer edition only available in 1973, 74, and 76. This is the only way you could order an early Bronco with a Red/Red combination. The Ranger package didn't offer a Red interior. The color code is T which is Candy Apple Red, which is very rare. Most Explorers were Rangoon Red. You can tell how beautiful this color is on the door strikers, where there's no oxidation. This Bronco has a 351W with AT and PS. It is a barn find from Arkansas. I haven't washed or waxed it, I've only wiped it down, as they say it's farm fresh!
It has it's fair share of dings and dents, but the paint is ORIGINAL and it's ready to come back to life with a little (actually a lot) of wax. The tires are 31's on factory steel rims. The motor turns and has spark. I have not tried to start it yet, but the PO says it ran when parked (don't they all)! It has a complete Koenig dealer option PTO winch. It's 100% complete, these have a resale value of $550-$600. The rear bumper is a dealer option too for Broncos. It has good brakes, the tranny and t'case shift fine. and the engine bay is complete. It is very solid and has very little rust. All sheet metal is usable and should be reused, including floors, doors, hood, tailgate, windshield frame, and kick panels. The frame has surface rust, not scale. It should clean up easy. Too bad its cut, but boy is she solid. It's a great restoration project for the right person. There is no top. I have a decent top that I will include in the sale, the glass is out but included, and it needs paint. I'll also include an original Red Explorer rear seat in good condition. It is sold with a clear title. Check out the prices on Ebay. There are 20K+ vehicles and junk! This one falls in between, which are getting hard to find, especially with the rare Explorer package, AT, PS, PTO winch and original paint!! Sorry the pictures are poor. Additional pictures for serious buyers. All questions will be answered. Bidders with zero or negative feedback will have their bids retracted if you don't contact me first. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Bronco is being sold locally as well. A $500 non refundable deposit is due at the end of the auction. Paypal is fine. Balance in cash or wire transfer. THANKS! On Nov-13-13 at 19:47:58 PST, seller added the following information: It was brought to my attention that I listed the title as salvage, that is incorrect. It has a clear title. I can send a picture of the title per your request. I also had a question about the engine. The PO told me it was a 351W, it looks like the original 302 to me. I'll look closer and update the listing. |

2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid vs other hybrid crossovers | How they compare on paper
Thu, Sep 19 2019The long-anticipated 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid was announced yesterday, and although we don't have every spec available (including the all-important official fuel economy figures), Honda provided enough that we can piece together a comparison of powertrain specs and dimensions. The same can be said of the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid, which we just drove for the first time. Together, they represent a significant increase in the number of compact crossover hybrids, as the current total is one: the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. The old Nissan Rogue Hybrid has been discontinued, leaving the subcompact Kia Niro Hybrid as the only other vehicle in the ballpark. As you'll see below, its size and performance are much different than the others, but its fuel economy and price are superior. Performance The RAV4 Hybrid is the performance champ of the group, but both it and the new CR-V Hybrid are actually more powerful than their respective gas-only siblings. Although the added weight of its battery pack negates much of that horsepower advantage, the RAV4 Hybrid's subsequent acceleration is indeed a smidge quicker than the gas-only version. It will be interesting to see if that's the case with the CR-V. By contrast, the Ford Escape offers a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo engine, meaning the hybrid variation is most definitely not the Escape's highest-performance offering. Nevertheless, the Hybrid does produce more power than the base 181-horsepower 1.5-liter three-cylinder. The Niro, meanwhile, brings up the rear in terms of performance, but Kia estimates a perfectly acceptable 0-60 time of 8.6 seconds. The others are likely in the mid-7-second range. Fuel economy This is ultimately an open question since we don't have official figures for the CR-V and Escape. Based on Honda's estimate of the CR-V Hybrid being 50% more efficient in the city than the gas-only version, our calculators say it should get 43 mpg in the city. Then, based on information provided on the Escape Hybrid first drive and some more calculation, our best guestimate for it is 40 mpg. Either way, given how mpg is calculated, any potential differences between them in terms of actual fuel burned should be negligible. On the other hand, most Kia Niros sold get 51 mpg in the city and 49 mpg combined. According to the EPA, that translates to an annual average fuel cost of $750. The RAV4 Hybrid, by contrast, is $900. FWD vs AWD Note that the CR-V and RAV4 come standard with all-wheel drive.
Takata air bag recall list
Tue, Dec 9 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed yesterday that 33.8 million vehicles with Takata airbags are going to be recalled. It's the largest recall in automotive history. The already record-breaking rate of automotive recalls this year shows no signs of slowing down, especially since millions of cars with defective airbags made by global supplier Takata are under ongoing scrutiny. The federal government is warning owners that inflator mechanisms in the air bags can rupture, causing metal fragments to fly out when the bags are deployed. The faulty air bags have already been blamed for multiple deaths. How do you know if your vehicle is safe? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released an updated list of vehicles under recall. Sometimes however, the government's website will crash and the list may not be complete. Check your VIN at the NHTSA website to make sure. The list of cars affected by the recall has not been released, but seem to span multiple models over the years for many of the automakers.
Detroit 3 and UAW set for showdown over tiered wages
Mon, Mar 23 2015This week, thousands of United Auto Workers will converge on Cobo Center in Detroit for the Special Convention on Collective Bargaining, an every-four-year event that lets members tell UAW leaders what the negotiating priorities should be during contract negotiations. This is where a lot of sand and a lot of lines start coming together in preparation for contract negotiations between the UAW and the Detroit 3 automakers, which will happen later this year. Number one on the UAW agenda is the end of the two-tier wage system created in 2007 to help the automakers get through bankruptcy; veteran workers are paid the Tier 1 rate of around $29.00 per hour, new hires are paid the Tier 2 rate of between $15 and $20 and get about half the benefits of Tier 1. Tier 2 hiring has been an undoubted success for the automakers, allowing them to keep factories in the US and hire more workers. By agreement, it is capped at a certain percentage of each automaker's workforce, and while the union's ultimate position is to get rid of the dual-scale system entirely; one leader said Ford could easily afford the $335 million it would take to convert all its workers to Tier 1 out of its $6.9 billion in 2014 North American profit, and General Motors could do the same out of the $5 billion it is handing to investors through the (admittedly forced) share buyback. Other delegates say that at the very least they'd be happy with enforcement of the current caps in the new contract. The automakers, conversely, would welcome expansion of the Tier 2 ranks. Including benefits, import automakers pay workers "in the high $40 range" per hour, according to an analyst, while Ford and GM pay about $59 in wages and benefits per hour. More Tier 2 workers on the rolls would let those two companies get labor cost parity with the competition. Fiat-Chrysler pays wages closer to the imports because of special exceptions in its UAW contract that allow unlimited Tier 2 hiring; those exceptions will end on September 14 and bring FCA into line with the other domestics, unless the new contract maintains them. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne is opposed to the two-tier system, having called it "almost offensive." One analyst says the UAW might win a sizable pay raise for Tier 2 and a small increase for Tier 1, but the keystone issue will be how the hiring matrix can help the automakers keep overall wages in line with the imports.
