I am reluctantly selling my 1990 Ford Bronco II, 4x4. 2.9 liter, v6 engine. The truck starts right up, and sounds good. There is almost none of the common lifter "tick" that these 2.9's are infamous for. This nice looking truck has 6 inches of body lift (and some suspension lift too) and oversized (brand new) tires (31.5 inch). It's the 5 speed manual transmission and has manual shift 4x4 and manual locking hubs. Trust me, the electronic hubs and shifters are NOT worth the pain. Keep it simple...and always dependable! I put a new clutch in it right after I bought it (about 3-4 years ago) and new oversized shock absorbers, front and rear. The paint is in pretty good shape. There is some fading. Numerous chips and dings here and there. Very minimal body rust. One spot of rust on a rear fender can be seen (see pic). There are a couple of indentions on the upper part of the left front fender. These would probably pop right out if you have one of those suction tools. The frame and underbody is in good condition and has nothing but surface rust. This has not been driven much on salted roads.
The Interior is not in great condition. But is okay. The front seats need replacing. The passenger seat is not too bad, but drivers' seat is very worn, mostly from climbing up and down into the lifted cab.. Carpet is aged and stained. Headliner is good. Back seats are very nice. Dash has some cracking.
Here are some things that I know DO NOT WORK:
AC not working.
No stereo. There are some speakers present. Just no radio.
Passenger-side door is not opening. And the electric window and lock on that side is not working.
Please understand that this is a very highly lifted truck. That means that this is not a vehicle for your 16 year old daughter or your crazy teenaged son. They will roll it over. This is a vehicle made for looking cool or for someone who wants to do 4x4 jeep trails. It is not a drag racer. The rear end is not stock, and seems to be pretty high speed. This means that the initial take off of this truck is sluggish. The small 2.9 liter doesn't jump out of the gates as it pushes these BIG tires and all the body lift. It cruises really comfortably at 45 to 55 mph. But I wouldn't drive it long distances, as it's simply not safe at high speeds. It is top heavy. When using the 4 wheel drive in low range, this truck creeps along and will pull just about anything in the world up a mountain. It's a great trail rig. It is a fun to drive and fun to look at truck. I hate to let it go.
Note about the Vehicle History Report Summary: the sole discrepancy here is the previous owner had to have a new title printed by DMV due to losing the old one. He didn't have the mileage of the vehicle with him, so he simply put down 100,000. But the actual mileage was somewhere between 60,000 to 70,000 on the odometer. The reason the truck has been driven so few miles in the last number of years is because IT IS A LIFTED TRUCK. You don't take these on vacation drives across the USA. There's nothing I can do the clear this title issue up, due the previous bonehead owner! But look at the rest of the report and you can see there has never been an accident. Hope this explains the issue.
Since it is 23 years old, the truck is sold "as-is" and where it is. There is no warranty expressed or implied. I have done my best to accurately describe the vehicle. a $300 deposit will be required within 24 hours of auction end. If the deposit is not received in that time period, I will automatically relist the item. Don't bid unless you plan on buying the truck. There's not that many of these trucks left, so let the people who know what they're doing have them. Okay?!! The truck is for sale locally for $2000. People just started looking at it today (March 16). I reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell it locally (regardless of bidding history on the eBay auction.)
Please read this listing carefully and look at all the pictures. If you still have questions, then fire away. I'll do my best to answer in a timely fashion.

Ford says C-Max mpg reduction has hurt sales
Tue, 22 Apr 2014The Ford C-Max is having a rough time. Sales for the five-door hybrid hatchback were down 39.1 percent in March to 2,295 cars, and sales from January through March were down 42.5 percent to 5,566 units. In an interview with The Detroit News, Ford Americas boss Joe Hinrichs places the blame on lowering the model's fuel economy rating.
"We're definitely seeing consideration on C-Max decline over time. We need to reinvest in the product because it's a great car," said Hinrichs to The Detroit News.
The company was hit with bad publicity over the C-Max when owners in multiple states filed class action lawsuits that alleged the cars weren't able to meet the stated fuel economy. Ford eventually re-rated the model from 47 miles per gallon city, highway and combined to 40 mpg city, 45 mpg highway and 43 mpg combined. To soften the blow of the change, the automaker sent checks to the owners to make up some of the difference. Initially, Ford claimed that demand remained strong for the hybrid. However, the latest sales figures and Hinrichs' statement seem to show the opposite.
Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla details factory expansion; Ford and SunPower raise money for Sierra Club
Thu, Nov 20 2014Tesla has revealed the details of the upgrade of its Fremont, CA factory. One major change is the addition of a dedicated production space for the dual-motor P85D version of the Model S. Robots will be doing the battery installation on the Model S to save some time, and new export docks allow Tesla to get the cars out the door and on the way to their new owners more quickly. The new robots that move the cars around the factory have been named after X-Men characters, which makes our inner geeks smile. Check out the factory upgrade in the time-lapse video below and read more at Teslarati or at the Tesla Motors Blog. A program in Beijing for privileged registrations for EVs hasn't had much success. Of the 1,424 lottery winners, only about 30 percent went on to register an electric car despite a two-month extension of the deadline to do so. Buyers are likely discouraged by the lack of charging infrastructure, which the city hopes to ameliorate with the addition of 1,000 new charging stations by the end of the year, and by requiring new and renovated developments to set aside parking specifically for EV charging. Read more at Green Car Reports. The UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies suggests that laws designed to protect dealers and consumers are stymieing the adoption of EVs. Laws like the ones certain states have in place that block or otherwise restrict Tesla's direct-to-consumer business model are not helpful for companies that want to introduce new products to the market. They prevent companies from passing on savings to customers for whom they would likely make the difference in a purchasing decision. One possible solution would be to allow exemptions to certain selling restrictions for a certain number of vehicles sold. "This could give automakers the degree of control needed to work out kinks with early customers, develop scalable processes for supporting PEVs, and ensure that effective dealer performance standards are in place before handing the reins over to wholly independent retailers," according to UC Davis ITS. Read more at the UC Davis website. Volkswagen says its environmental program, called "Think Blue. Factory," is meeting the automaker's own sustainability targets. The main purpose of the program is to move toward eco-friendlier carmaking at each of its plants worldwide.
