1986 Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet on 2040-cars
Gilbert, Minnesota, United States
For more details email me at: hipolitohrroytek@ukboss.com .
For sale is my 1986 Ferrari Mondial 3.2. Red on tan leather. The car has about 21,500 original miles. I purchased
it a year ago from a noted collector in the Pittsburgh area. His personal mechanic maintained it very well, along
with the rest of his phenomenal collection. I have maintenance records from his years of ownership and mine. I love
the car, but I am selling it to make room for another Ferrari in my limited garage space.
Mechanicals. The car is mechanically excellent. The engine starts easily every time. It runs very strongly and revs
smoothly. Excellent compression (as tested last fall -- those are the photos with the spark leads detached. Note
how clean the engine is. That is its natural state. It does not use or leak oil.)
The transmission is perfect. It slots into all gears (including first-to-second) whether warm or cold. The belt
service is current and has had only a few thousand miles. The brakes are excellent. The suspension is good and not
squeaky. I am aware of no current mechanical issues.
Wheels and Tires. The car comes with two complete sets of wheels and tires -- the original metric set (for shows,
with factory original tires) and a second set (which I run on the car, with easier-to-source tires). Both are
Ferrari Mondial OEM wheels (the non-metrics are from a later year). The wheels are in excellent condition. If I
were to keep the car, I would consider replacing the daily-use tires in the spring.
Body. The body is in excellent condition. I believe the paint work is all original, and it is in fine condition.
There are two or three miniscule door dings on the sides of the body, visible on close inspection in bright light.
I assume these are from car doors in parking lots (all predate my ownership). There are some rock chips on the
front of the car. Otherwise, the paint is excellent. It is very beautiful and deep. There is no rust whatsoever.
There are no scratches.
Cabriolet Top. The top is in very good condition. No rips or wrinkles on the exterior, and the fabric is taut. It
opens and closes easily. The rear window is very slightly yellowed, but you can see through it easily. The inside
of the top has light wear at a few points where the beige fabric contacts the mechanical apparatus. It closes well.
I have the original cover for the top as well as an aftermarket leather top (both fit well, but the original covers
are very costly, so I do not use it). The rubber weather stripping between the front and rear windows (which are
designed to bend when the top goes up and down) are partially perished. They could use replacement.
Interior. The interior is in excellent condition, with no rips, tears, stains, or anything else. The leather has
almost no signs of wear. The carpet is very good.
Dash and Electrics. Everything works. All the buttons, lights, and signals work well. The windows go up and down
easily, although the rear windows are a bit slow and could do with re-lubrication. The air conditioning--a known
problem on these cars--works well in this vehicle. I have the CD player that came with the car (a Denon unit that
does not function). I replaced it recently with a nice Kenwood unit with Blue tooth, etc, which works well. The
radio antenna works well, although it makes some noise and could probably do with lubrication.
Accessories. I have the original leather binder with the original manual. I have both original sets of folding
keys. I have the original leather key fob that came with the car new (although it is not in perfect condition). I
have the original jack bag with all accessories (including the little canister with some original fuses and light
bulbs). I do not have the original tool roll. They can be sourced online.
Pre-Purchase Inspections.

Ferrari 488 GTB turbocharges its way towards Geneva debut
Tue, Feb 3 2015Automakers left, right and center are embracing turbochargers as the best way to get more power out of a smaller package, and that includes performance automakers like Ferrari. In line with the latest FIA regulations, the Prancing Horse marque turbocharges its Formula One single-seater, and followed the same route with the California T. And now it's done the same with the replacement for the 458 Italia. Dubbed the 488 GTB, Maranello's latest mid-engined V8 supercar arrives forty years after the debut of the 308 GTB that launched Ferrari into the segment. It packs a 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 offering up 661 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. That represents a 64-horse increase over even the extreme 458 Speciale, and an even more impressive torque boost of 162 lb-ft, despite a decrease in displacement by approximately 600cc. (Ferrari isn't saying exactly how many turbochargers its new forced-induction engine carries, but we're likely looking at a pair of twin-scroll turbos.) The new engine is said to be enough to propel the new 488 GTB to 62 miles per hour in three seconds flat, to 124 mph in 8.3 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 205 mph. And at 1 minute 23 seconds, the 488's lap time at Fiorano is also a good half second faster than the naturally aspirated Speciale and two seconds faster than the Italia. Ferrari says it dedicated significant efforts to keep the engine responsive and the exhaust note enthralling despite the introduction of forced induction – the first time a turbo has been used in mid-engined, eight-cylinder Prancing Horse, since the F40. Of course there's more to the 488 GTB than the turbocharged engine. It also features a revised Side Slip Control 2 (SSC2) system, working in tandem with the F1-Trac and E-Diff systems to keep the supercar on the razor's edge without sliding off of it. The revised bodywork also generates 50 percent more downforce – thanks in no small part to the active diffuser that necessitated moving the exhaust pipes upwards – and a more slippery shape than any production Ferrari yet. The interior has likewise been revised with new control clusters, air vents, instrument panel and infotainment system for optimized ease of use. The new Ferrari 488 GTB – shorthand for Gran Turismo Berlinetta – is set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, but you can scope it out now in the high-res image gallery above and the full details in the press release below.
Valtteri Bottas on pole for Formula One's 1,000th race
Sat, Apr 13 2019Valtteri Bottas will start Formula One's 1,000th world championship race from pole position after leading Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton in a front row lockout at the Chinese Grand Prix on Saturday. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel qualified third, ahead of 21-year-old Monegasque team mate Charles Leclerc who was unable to repeat his Bahrain Grand Prix pole of two weeks ago. Bottas, who won the season opener in Australia and leads defending champion Hamilton by one point in the standings, was the third different driver to take pole this season in three races. "The lap was OK, not completely how I wanted. Luckily it was good enough for pole," smiled the Finn, who pipped Hamilton by 0.023 seconds after setting a best time of one minute 31.547. "Lewis also managed to improve a lot during the qualifying and it was super-close." The pole was a first for Bottas since Russia last September and the seventh of his career. It was also his first in China where Mercedes have won five of the last seven races. Hamilton sounded happy just to be on the front row, despite six previous poles in Shanghai, after looking out of sorts in practice. "I didn't give up, I kept pushing right to the end. Big congratulations to Valtteri, he's been stellar all weekend and I've been struggling and fighting the car," said the Briton. "To be as close as we are at the end is fantastic. An incredible result for the team. There was a little bit more time left on the table there but that's cool, I'll try and get it tomorrow," added Hamilton. UNHAPPY VERSTAPPEN Ferrari had arrived in China as favorites after showing their speed in Bahrain, particularly on the straights, with Leclerc on pole and leading until a loss of engine power in the closing laps. While unable to match the quick-cornering Mercedes cars for overall pace in Shanghai, Vettel hoped to be closer on Sunday thanks to the track's main straight being more than a kilometer long. "I think there was maybe a little bit more but overall not enough to beat these guys today," said the 31-year-old German, a four times world champion. "If we get close we could have an advantage in a straight line." The top 10 positions went two-by-two in team order, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly fifth and sixth and ahead of the Renault pair of Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg – the Australian just 0.004 ahead of the German.
Twin LaFerraris roar around Fiorano
Wed, 18 Sep 2013What could possibly be better than a Ferrari LaFerrari running at full clip on the Italian brand's Fiorano test track? The answer is obviously two LaFerraris, both doing hot laps. So far as we know, this is the first time we've had an unadulterated listen - outside of the car, that is - to the latest Ferrari hypercar when it's being ran hard. There's no voiceover or music, just that righteous, hybridized V12.
We're told that the first LaFerrari, without camo, is a production model, while the other car is said to be testing a different exhaust setup. It sounds slightly different, and according to the videographer, it was noticeably louder than the production car. Take a look below for the full 2:48 of Italian V12 noise.
