I am selling my 512TR. Divorce forces the sale. The car is serviced. In December 2011, I had a complete 7year 36000 mile service performed. This was necessitated by a missed shift that required transmission disassembly and rebuild. I did many other items while the engine and transmission were out. I replaced the pinion gear with a much more robust pinion used in high performance/ racing applications. the exhaust was processed with "Jet Flow" which is porcelinizing the inner and aluminizing the outer aspects of the exhaust headers. this increases the efficiency of the extraction of heat. I will include photocopies of the work order and title. I have many more photos than can be shown on this ad. The car is set up well with adjustable spring seats and great shocks. The exhaust is by TUBI. TUBI Exhaust make all the difference in the world as far as power output and musical exhaust note..."think rocket launch or thunder". Pirelli Supercar Tires. The rears are from 2011 with maybe 1500 miles on them. The interior is red and black as can be seen in the pics. Everyone loves it. If you have never driven a 512TR but have driven a Testarossa....your in for a treat. The 512TR has so many little but meaningful improvements over the Testarossa. The car is much more drivable. The engine is internally improved. The 512TR engine is lowered to reduce lateral rolling mass. As can be seen in the pictures of the engine compartment, there are quite a bit of cosmetic accents in the way of bright polish and chrome. This will either blow you away, and you will just do whatever you have to do to get this car, or you won't like it... no in between . Everyone, including the local Ferrari club Pres., likes it a lot! I would like to take a moment to discuss the title. This car has a clear California Title...now. In this car's past it was insured or should I say under-insured. The car had a side scraping shunt that did not involve the suspension or frame in any way. The left side panels were replaced. The car was repainted by a famous collectors personal painter to slightly BETTER THAN FACTORY NEW. The upshot of all this is that the car was salvaged to the insurance company because that's what happens if you under-insure your car. The insurance company just pays you off and takes the car whether you like it or not. Then the car was repaired as any Ferrari would be. I mention this in detail because when they say "Watch out, the car is a salvage" they are doing great harm to many and certainly this car. A salvage is important when a car is under water or in a fire or a clip job. NONE OF THESE APPLY HERE. So if you want the best low mileage drivable (fast and safe) 512TR...look no further. |

2019 Tokyo Auto Salon features one of the coolest auctions we've seen
Thu, Jan 3 2019In just over a week, the Tokyo Auto Salon will host one of the coolest auctions we've seen in years. Jalopnik spotted BH Auction's listings, and it's a cornucopia of hot machinery you won't typically find at American auctions like Gooding & Company or Barrett Jackson. While Japanese cars make up most of the listings, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and even Dodge all have at least one car going up for auction. We won't include everything here, but you can check out the full list on BH Auction's website. There are 50 lots at the auction, including nine Nissan Skylines, nine Ferraris and two Porsche Carrera GTs. Some of our other favorites include a Honda S800 coupe, a Toyota Miniace truck, a Mitsubishi Willys Jeep and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL gullwing with the V8 from a W124 Mercedes-Benz E60 AMG that's estimated to sell for between $1.25 million and $1.5 million. Michigan man gets jail time for Ferrari engine sale
Fri, Oct 30 2015Tax evasion is not something to mess about with. Ask Al Capone. For most of us that sell stuff, though, it's not something we really think about. Are you honestly going to pay taxes on that old iPhone 5 you sold? The couch with the questionable stain? No, because paying tax on something you sold for a relative pittance is just a pain in the butt. If you sell one of Aurelio Lampredi's Ferrari engines – used in a range of vintage racers, including the 750 Monza shown above – for over $600,000, you might want to make a point of paying the taxes on your profits. A Michigan man found that out the hard way, Reuters reports, after selling the Lampredi engine in 2009. 71-year-old Terry Myr of Smiths Creek, MI, was convicted in April of tax evasion and four counts of failing to file a tax return and was sentenced to two years in prison and two years of supervised release on Thursday. He was also ordered to pay $738,904 in back taxes, interest, and penalties – he already owed $195,000 in back taxes before his conviction – by a US District Court judge, Reuters reports. Now, this wasn't a simple case of Myr forgetting to set some money aside from the sale. The buyer wire-transferred the $610,000 into a corporate account he made the week prior. Then, Myr promptly withdrew $360,000, which he used to buy silver and gold coins, while the remainder was transferred to other accounts – be they personal or corporate – or simply used for checks to cash. Hence the tax evasion charge. According to Reuters, no explanation was given as to how Uncle Sam uncovered the engine sale in the first place. Related Video:
Ferrari 458 Speciale A trots out its 597 sun-drenched ponies [w/video]
Thu, Oct 2 2014To say that Ferrari has made some powerful drop-tops over the years would be like saying the Pope has been known to make a couple of blessings here and there. There was the F50, the 575 Superamerica and the 599 SA Aperta, to name just a few. But this is the most powerful Spider it has ever made. Taking its curtain call at the Paris Motor Show today is the new Ferrari 458 Speciale A – successor to the F430-based 16M Scuderia Spider and lovechild of the 458 Spider and 458 Speciale. That means it's got the same 4.5-liter V8 – all 597 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of it – as the Speciale coupe, but with the folding aluminum roof from the Spider. Best of both worlds, as they say - especially with a 0-62 time quoted at three seconds flat. But since Maranello will only produce less than 500 of them, you'd better check it out in our gallery of live shots above. This content is hosted by a third party.
