Ferrari plans theme park for North America

Ferrari is building more theme parks, and the next one could be built somewhere in North America, according to Bloomberg. The exotic automaker opened Ferrari World – its first theme park – in 2010 on Abu Dhabi's Yas Island, adjacent to the grand prix racing circuit and where Warner Bros will soon open another theme park. A second Ferrari theme park (pictured) is currently under construction in Spain as part of the PortAventura Resort that's one of the largest in Europe, and the company recently announced a third facility "to be located in one of the primary cities in mainland China" as well. The prospective North American location would be the fourth, though details on potential sites remain unknown. The Los Angeles and Orlando areas have developed into epicenters for theme parks in America and could attract a Ferrari location, or send it looking for alternatives like Six Flags and Busch Gardens parks have. Wherever Ferrari selects, you can expect the park to feature various racing-themed attractions, including roller coasters, vertical acceleration towers, virtual test tracks, and more. The licensing of additional Ferrari theme parks comes as the company strives to position itself as a luxury lifestyle brand as much as an automaker and racing team. The storied marque has lines of clothing and various merchandise, and a network of retail stores through which it sells its products. Underscoring its expansion, Ferrari shareholders approved the appointment of several new board members from luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Investors also approved the renewal of Amedeo Felisa's contract as chief executive, but he's not expected to stick around much longer as Sergio Marchionne assumes more control over the company, which recently spun off from the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group over which he also presides. LaFerrari for sale in Florida for $4.7 million

Want to get your hands on a new LaFerrari? It's gonna cost you, and cost you big. The factory charged $1.35 million for each of the 499 it will ever make, but you can bet speculators will be selling them for much more than that. Just take a look at this listing from Florida. The Fort Lauderdale Collection South has one LaFerrari for sale with an asking price of $4.7 million. That's more than triple what Ferrari charged for it. The example in question bears the VIN ZFF76ZFA2E0205216 and appears to have been built for the US market in September 2014. It's done up in the classic combination of Rosso Corsa over a black interior and has just 388 miles on the odometer. It has a few options installed, including carbon-fiber side mirrors, a sports exhaust, and Prancing Horse logos embroidered into the headrests. Each of those options is worth a good grand or two on top of the list price, but their addition doesn't go very far toward explaining the enormous markup. With no other examples of LaFerrari having been sold at auction just yet, we don't have much of an indication of how much they're worth on the open market. According to Sports Car Market, the most anyone paid for the previous Enzo was just over $6 million this past August at the RM Sotheby's sale in Monterey, but that was the final example of the breed that was gifted to Pope John Paul II. Most of the rest have sold for a million or two – not over four. Most cardiologists and physiologists maintain that a human's maximum heart rate is calculated with a mathematical formula: subtract a person's age from 220. But some leading doctors are now questioning the established academics, which trace their origins back to 1970, claiming that a simple formula isn't accurate for people of all ages, in particular those who are older. Rather than endorse the time accepted calculation, this progressive group argues that maximum heart rate equals 208 minus 0.7 times age.
While medical science continues its debate, I recently discovered a more elementary approach that disregards age and physical condition, and it requires no math.
To reveal a human's true maximum heart rate, I propose strapping test subjects into the driver's seat of a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and then firing up its ferocious V12.
