Ferrari shows California with unique upholstery at Goodwood

Fri, Jun 26 2015

Order up a new Ferrari and you can get it just about any way you want it. That's what the company's Tailor Made program is all about. And it's showcasing some of the possibilities at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend with the unique cabrio you see here. This one-of-a-kind Ferrari California T has been done up in a special blue and white livery. Its three-layer Bianco Italia paintjob is overlaid with a pair of offset blue stripes, complimented by a set of 20-inch alloys in blue and silver. The interior is similarly done up in blue and white, but it's the material with which that's done that's the most interesting bit. Maranello has upholstered and trimmed the interior of this particular California with a new high-tech material called Mycro Prestige. It's less than a millimeter thick and weighs only a third of what the leather would, but it's flameproof and water resistant while being porous and breathable. Sort of like Alcantara, but more advanced. Of course these are only some of the options Ferrari can offer through its Tailor Made program. Clients are set up with their own personal designer who'll walk them through the endless choices available through three collections, dubbed Scuderia, Classica and Inedita, the latter offering the most out-there choices. So if what you really want is a Prancing Horse swathed in cashmere or denim, Ferrari will be only too glad to oblige your open checkbook. Related Video: "TAILOR MADE" FERRARI CALIFORNIA T SHOWCASES NEW LIGHTWEIGHT MYCRO PRESTIGE FABRIC Maranello, 24 June 2015. Ferrari will be showcasing a very special "Tailor Made" California T at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, inspired by the passion and colours of Polo and Horse racing. The California T encapsulates the ethos of personalisation, with a Bianco Italia three-layer exterior with a double-asymmetric stripe in Blu Hellen mirrored by a sumptuous Blu Sterling interior with Bianco elements and highlights. The car is finished off with 20" forged wheels which have been painted in Blu Hellen and Argento Nurburgring. This particular California T showcases a new high-tech "Mycro Prestige" fabric material that has been specifically made exclusively for Ferrari. Mycro Prestige is a highly resistant material that offers an exceptional level of grip, and, thanks to its unique mixture of fibres which are only 0.7mm thick, it is only one-third the weight of traditional leather.

Two Ferrari LaFerraris are for sale in Dubai

Tue, Apr 12 2016

You can rest assured that a disproportionate share LaFerrari production run headed to the United Arab Emirates. Of those, two examples of which are now listed for sale in Dubai alone on Dubicars.com. Both of them are red, which is no surprise. The first, pictured in the image gallery above, is a brand-new 2014 model for sale at the emirate's famed dealership Al Ain Class Motors. The 2014 model is listed with zero miles on the odometer, though we'd be surprised if it hadn't racked up at least a few delivery and test miles. All it will cost you is a small matter of 11,000 Emirati Dirham, which works out to a hair under $3 million at current exchange rates. GTR Motors hasn't listed how much it wants for this second example depicted in the video below. But you can bet that – even with 398 kilometers (or 247 miles) on the clock – this 2015 example will still command a significant premium over the $1.35 million the factory charged for these hybrid hypercars when they were new. If you can scrape together the cash for either, you'll be getting arguably the ultimate Ferrari road car to date, packing a 6.3-liter V12 hybrid powertrain good for 950 horsepower and a 2.5-second 0-60 time. The factory in Maranello only built 499 of them, so finding one – let alone two – up for grabs is a bit of a rarity. Of course if this particular Prancing Horse isn't your cup of tea, there's plenty of other enticing machinery on offer, including a McLaren P1, Koenigsegg CCX, three Porsche 918 Spyders, and a handful of Bugatti Veyrons. F1 driver underestimates talent needed for wet-weather burnout

Sun, 21 Jul 2013

Whoops. That's a word nobody wants to hear in racing, and that's especially true in Formula 1, where the cars cost untold millions to design, develop, build and operate. In other words, just about any 'whoops' is an expensive 'whoops.'
Kamui Kobayashi, who made his F1 debut in 2009 driving for Toyota, has always been known as a bit of a wild card in the sport. He is notoriously difficult to pass, driving as he does with seemingly reckless abandon, and he's not afraid to get tangled up with the world's best drivers in the world's fastest race cars.
That brash attitude sometimes serves him well. Other times... well, not so much. See what happens with Kobayashi tries to show off in a Ferrari F1 car for fans on a wet track in Moscow in the twin videos below.
