Ferrari stock demand exceeding supply
Sun, Oct 18 2015As with the Ferrari cars, so it is with shares in the company's initial public offering: When Ferrari has a limited quantity of something to sell, demand far outstrips supply. Investors told banks weeks ago that bids for the $1 billion in stock – up to 18.89 million shares – would exceed the number of shares available over the entire expected range of $48 to $52. Ten percent of the company is going on the block' Bloomberg reports that the books close on the IPO on Monday at 4:00 pm. The final price will be set on Tuesday, and trading will begin Wednesday under the ticker symbol RACE on the New York Stock Exchange. Piero Ferrari, the son of Enzo Ferrari, will hold onto the ten-percent stake he currently has in the company. Fiat Chrysler will disburse the final 80 percent to its investors sometime in 2016. In combination with spinning Ferrari off from its parent company next year, the share sale is expected to put $4 billion into Fiat Chrysler coffers, which will be used to help fuel the growth of Alfa Romeo, Jeep, and Maserati. Assuming all goes to plan, Bloomberg says Ferrari will be valued at roughly $12 billion, a number $1 billion greater than the valuation Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne put on Ferrari earlier this year and higher than the brand's own internal assessment. Michael Schumacher documentary is in the works
Tue, May 14 2019A documentary chronicling Formula One legend Michael Schumacher is in the works and will be released Dec. 5 in Europe. The film, "Schumacher," is being made to tell the racing driver's story. Schumacher is widely regarded as the greatest Formula One driver of all time with his seven world championships. He raced from 1991 to 2006, and then again from 2010 to 2012. His early years were spent at Benetton before he joined Ferrari for the majority of his career. The last few seasons were spent with Mercedes-Benz. Unfortunately, just a year after walking away from the sport, he suffered a head injury while skiing. The injury left him in an induced coma, from which he is still recovering. Schumacher has not been seen in public and will reportedly not be seen in this film, but it will feature interviews with his family, including his wife, Corinna. Never-before-seen archival footage will also be featured. However, his current health condition will not be addressed. In nearly six years since the accident, Schumacher's recovery has been handled quietly. Neither family nor friends have made public comments concerning his condition. A trailer is set to be shown in Cannes at the Marche du Film event that begins May 14 and goes until May 23. Schumacher turned 50 years old this year, and this will also be the 25th anniversary of his first World Championship victory with Benetton. It's unclear when and where folks in the U.S. will be able to watch the film, but an American release is expected shortly after Europe — early 2020 is the target for now.
Ryan Tuerck's Ferrari-powered Scion drifts, crashes, fixes, and drifts again
Sat, Sep 23 2017We were pretty astonished when Ryan Tuerck and Gumout shoved a Ferrari 458 V8 into a Scion FR-S. And as awesome as that fact alone may be, it's even more amazing that it's a fully functional drifter, not just a show car. Tuerck recently took it out to Portland, Ore. to do some sweet drifting on a mountain road. Unfortunately for him and the car, he did something substantially less sweet right off the bat. As you'll see in the video, in just the second corner of the course, Tuerck drives the front corner of the GT4586 right into the dirt cliff on the side of the road. For a moment, it looks like things are all right, but the car starts pulling to the right and he stops the car for repairs. After fixing bits including a thoroughly bent tie-rod, the GT4586 is good as new. We're glad the car wasn't down for long, because the drifting show following the repairs was fantastic. In the video, Tuerck throws the Scion into high-speed, super smoky drifts. And all of it happens to the tune of a shrieking Ferrari V8. It's well worth a few minutes of your time to watch.
