Ferrari F360 Modena Challenge MFY: 2001 Engine: F131B Assembly #: 39674 Price: $95.000. Fans of the Ferrari brand will know the Ferrari 360MC (Modena Challenge) is an extensively reworked, non-road legal version of the 360 Modena Road Car. It was originally produced to compete in the Ferrari Challenge Racing Series. The 360 MC is a fully factory built affair which afforded the Ferrari engineers the chance to maximize weight reduction, converting the road car into a viable circuit racing machine. A huge attention to detail ensures this car is drastically stripped of unnecessary weight over the road ready version and appropriate safety equipment such as a carbon fiber racing seat, FIA approved restraint harnesses, a roll cage and an OMP fire suppression system with inboard controls have been incorporated. The fully stripped out interior and bare carbon detailing ensure the car really does feel a world away from its luxurious road going brother. Race drivers will appreciate the Spartan but highly functional interior where unnecessary toys such as the sound system, electric windows, central locking, interior trim, airbags, air conditioning, hand brake and road seats are all removed in the name of reduced curb weight. The suspension in the 360 MC was extensively revised and the electronic adaptive comfort system of the Modena was rejected for a traditional fixed damping setup, which is substantially stiffer and lower. Now while this does cut pitch and roll at the compromise of road car comfort, who really needs road car comfort in a dedicated racing car? Thicker brakes designed to cope with the constant stress and strain of the track incorporate air cooling ducts to prevent overheating. And who can argue with the enhanced driving characteristics of an F1 gearbox? Although the 3.6 engine is broadly similar to the original, according to Ferrari the 360 MC can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. That’s a full 0.6 seconds quicker than the standard 360 Modena F1. It’s inspiring what good old-fashioned weight reduction and an improved power-to-weight ratio can accomplish. This car is equipped and originaly tuned by Ferrari Spa for a beginner racer or for the experienced driver, and is available for immediate purchase for $95,000. LaFerrari Spider might actually use Aperta name
Thu, Jul 7 2016We've already shown you the Ferrari LaFerrari Spider, but it may ultimately use a different name. Sources told Autocar the topless LaFerrari will actually have "Aperta" in its title. The British magazine also notes that some of the images have file names labeled Aperta. It would be a fitting moniker as the word translates to "open" in English. It was affixed to other special Ferrari convertibles like the 599 SA Aperta and 458 Speciale A Aperta, and it makes sense to bestow the name upon the most powerful Ferrari convertible yet. The previous open-air Ferrari with the greatest output was the 488 Spider with 661 horsepower, which is paltry compared with the LaFerrari's 949 hp. The LaFerrari drop-top will make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show, and we expect it to cost about $1.4 million. Ferrari says all examples have already been sold. Related Video:
Why the Ferrari Testarossa deserves some respect
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Join us for a moment in putting on our way-back hats, zeroing in on the late 1980s. Imagine that you're in your bedroom. Look over at the wall across from your bed. What car do you see on the poster? If you're anything like us, it's a Lamborghini Countach - in fact, it's a trio of Lamborghini Countach models in an array of colors. Oh, and there's also a 1:18-scale diecast Countach in black sitting on our dresser with its scissor doors locked in a skyward embrace.
Of course, the Raging Bull wasn't Italy's only great supercar from the 1980s, especially if you cast your lot at the temple of the Prancing Horse. The Ferrari Testarossa, as pointed out in the latest video from Petrolicious, is an oft unsung hero penned from the stuff boyhood dreams are made of. Far from a *ahem* red-headed stepchild, the Testarossa deserves a place in the minds and hearts of '80s supercar fans the world over.
