2001 Ferrari 360 Modena Coupe 2-door 3.6l on 2040-cars
San Jose, California, United States
|
2001 Ferrari 360 Modena, 12700 miles, Rosso Corsa over tan leather interior. F1 gearbox. Challenge grills, red calipers. Has the manuals, tool kit, car cover, and tire inflator.
This is a private sale and I have not owned the car for very long. I purchased the car locally with the intent of keeping it, however things have changed and I must let her go...regrettably. The condition is very nice, as you would expect for a vehicle with this low mileage. Paint is in very good condition. a few very small marks on the hood from normal wear and tear. One small touch up spot on the bumper cover under the right hand headlight, approx 2mm x 8mm. This spot is not noticeable unless pointed out. The interior is very clean as seen in the photos. No heavy wear on the drivers seat bolsters that is very common. Some buttons are sticky which is very common on all Ferrari's. No shrinkage to the leather on the dash. Wheels are in good condition with no marks. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport with approx 80% remaining. At the time I purchased the car a minor service including oil , filter, and gearbox oil change was completed. This was done in January 2013. Also during the minor service the clutch was visually inspected and estimated at 70% remaining. The inspection also revealed that the left camshaft seal is seeping and needs to be resealed. The brakes are 70% remaining. I have very few service records for the vehicle, which is not concerning as the vehicle has such low mileage, however I cannot verify if a belt service has been completed. Therefore, a belt service is recommended. If the car sells at the BUY IT NOW price, I will cover the cost of a belt service and cam reseal from my local Ferrari shop. This is a very nice car. It is bone stock, with no modifications or after market parts. Carfax certified with no accidents or issues. Titled in California. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Buyer responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. Buyer can pick up in person if desired. I reserve the right t end the auction early as the car is for sale locally. On Feb-17-14 at 17:20:22 PST, seller added the following information: Inspection was completed in January 2014, not 2013 as i indicated above. |

Ferrari looks to cut 20% total C02 emissions over 7 years
Tue, 24 Jun 2014In the late 1970s, performance cars suffered a huge blow when the necessity for better economy and lower emissions crippled their power. It took nearly a decade for the horsepower to return. Today, we're in the middle of another push for greater vehicle efficiency, but don't expect another era of malaise this time. Instead, lightweight materials, turbos and hybrids mean that everyone can be happy. However, the pressure to clean up isn't just for the mass market, supercars must improve too, but Ferrari at least seems to be taking on the challenge in stride.
Ferrari Powertrain Director Vittorio Dini recently told Automotive News Europe that the Prancing Horse will improve its current average C02 emissions of 270 grams per kilometer by 20 percent by 2021, to reach about 216 grams of C02 per kilometer. To achieve these lofty ambitions, the company will exploit a relatively simple path. "In the future, all of our V8s will use turbos," said Dini said to ANE. Also, its V12s will use hybridization because it'll be a better choice for them compared to the heat of multiple turbos, he claimed.
The first steps of this strategy are already in front of us. The new California T ditches its naturally aspirated V8 in favor of a smaller displacement, more powerful turbocharged unit, and the LaFerrari is already using the hybrid V12. Dini's quote certainly lends some credence to the rumor that the 2015 refresh for the 458 Italia may use an even more powerful version of the California's turbo V8. With a new Ferrari model planned for each year between now and 2018, the Prancing Horse seems unperturbed by any threats posed by emissions.
Limited-run Ferrari F12 GTO supposedly headed to Frankfurt
Sun, Jun 28 2015After spy shots of a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in Italy wearing some sticky rear-end camo went public, insiders have told GTspirit that the car is an F12 GTO and it will come to this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It's hinted that the Gran Turimso Omologato changes to the 6.3-liter V12 up front might increase output from 731 horsepower to 800 hp by using the HY-KERS unit from the LaFerrari. That module provides an extra 163 hp to the supercar. True to GTO form, more power would come with less weight, the purported F12 GTO going on a diet of more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds). That would get matters of mass down to a stated curb weight of around 3,140 pounds. More technology could make the jump from its supercar sibling, all hidden underneath more aggressive bodywork and a GTO badge. A production volume of just 650 cars is mentioned, which, if true, would give buyers more chance to procure one; the Ferrari only made 599 units of the 599 GTO. Ferrari production to increase under Marchionne
Sun, 14 Sep 2014The head of any company has to juggle the relationship between supply and demand. Of course, that applies to automakers too, even ones as high-end as Ferrari. And as with many other decisions, the way Ferrari has addressed supply and demand has come down principally to the principal.
Enzo Ferrari may have only wanted to sell as many vehicles as he needed in order to fund his company's racing department, but with the F40 - the last model made under his watch - Ferrari ended up increasing supply to meet growing demand. However, after Luca di Montezemolo took over in the wake of Enzo's passing, he started constricting supply. He figured Ferrari could sell 400 units of the F50, for example, so he built 399. More recently, Montezemolo undertook a course of action that spread Ferrari into more markets, while simultaneously constricting supply to increase demand and thereby profitability.
It's been a winning formula for Ferrari. Just days ago, the company announced record earnings up by 14.5 percent in the first half of 2014 over the same period last year, which itself had seen a 7.1-percent increase over the year before. Clearly the strategy has worked, but Montezemolo's successor is already eying a different approach.
