This was my dream car that I spent three years searching for! I wanted a 355 because nothing sounds like a 355 with a Capristo Stage 3 exhaust, which this one has that I put on new last year! As close to an F1 car as you can get. After I warmed her up, you can hear her here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDcNs-b6tCU
Of significant importance to me was to find one that had all records and was perfectly sorted. That is THIS car. The original owner had her from 1998 to 2011. A person in Florida bought the car, put $17k in service to make her right including new headers (Fabspeed), put 300 miles on it and then sold it to me. I've made sure everything was perfected there after. I put track pipes on to replace the cats, a brand new Capristo Stage 3 exhaust ($4k) and Capristo bypass valve so it will never rattle again. I then did about about 50% of the electrical connectors with the Dave Helms Gold SRI Connector Kit which cost around $1500 plus about 20 hours labor as I was tracing down an error code. Turns out that it was just a dead O2 sensor, so I replaced all of them. The car has no codes, no issues. BODY The paintwork was fully paint corrected and is a mirror as you can see in the pics. The top looks like brand new. The Pirelli P Zero tires still have at least 75% of tread on them. The interior is in excellent condition but the seat bolsters show typical wear. Brand new battery put in this year, not due for a major service until 2015. Last Major service was by Ferrari of Tampa on 2/16/2011. Valve guides should never need replaced as it was built in April of 1998 and should have, although I haven't verified, steel sintered guides. I have the full service records and title in hand. Car has FACTORY SHIELDS, NO STICKIES, ALL BOOKS, 3 Keys (including the RED FOB), NEW BRAKE PADS. This is the car you've been looking for if you've always wanted a 6 speed manual black 355. No stories, I haven't had to put a penny into any repairs as the previous owner had all the required work done (steel braided fuel lines, headers, etc.) other than the performance upgrades with the exhaust and the bypass valve. If you want to just get in a 355 and drive it and listen to it and not worry if it's going to break down, this is the ONE. I'm only selling because I bought a 360. Feel free to ask me any questions! |

Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 are its most powerful road cars of all time
Tue, Sep 18 2018Ferrari just pulled the wraps off the limited-edition Monza SP1 and SP2, and successfully reminded the world that it still knows how to make a jaw-dropping car. We saw the supercars and learned a few details about them earlier today when someone posted pictures on Instagram from a private Ferrari event. Now we have all the details and official photos from Ferrari. Providing the thrust is the most powerful engine Ferrari has ever built for a road car. It took the 6.5-liter V12 from the 812 Superfast and eked out a few more ponies to get it to 809 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. Ferrari says that's good for a 0-62 run in 2.9 seconds - oh yeah, there's no windshield either. The SP1 is a one-seater and the SP2 is logically a two-seater. They were designed to take us back down Ferrari's memory lane, namely those of the 1940s and 1950s era where the name "barchetta" grew from. In decidedly not-old news, though, both are made of carbon fiber and go over 186 mph. They're light, but not crazily so with the SP1 coming in at 3,307 pounds. The pair are also part of a new segment Ferrari is calling 'Icona,' which, as you may have guessed, translates to Icon. Ferrari thinks it solved the windshield delete issue too. Apparently the fairing ahead of the steering wheel and instrument panel is designed to disrupt part of the airflow when traveling at speed. We'd imagine a helmet might still be the smart option though. Ferrari only plans to build 500 of these cars and hasn't publicly announced a price, but it's safe to assume that they won't be cheap and your chances of snapping one up are slim to none. 2015 Austrian F1 Grand Prix switches to alternating current
Mon, Jun 22 2015It's called the Red Bull Ring, guests are welcomed by a statue of a leaping bull, and dominating its layout demands powerful cars that can run it hard. Perhaps all that aggression is what led both Mercedes-AMG Petronas cars to run off the track in the final qualifying session on their final hot laps, a little too aggressive on the charge. Lewis Hamilton was first into the gravel at Turn 1 when he lost his car under braking, but he was still fast enough to get pole ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg, who spun at Turn 8. Rosberg started second. Or perhaps it wasn't the red bull but the scarlet horse that caused The Silver Arrows to muck it up: Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel had Mercedes' attention all weekend, and he'd line up in third just 0.355 off Hamilton's time. Williams truly rediscovered its power, Felipe Massa going fourth fastest, teammate Valtteri Bottas in sixth. Between them was newly-minted Le Mans winner Nico Hulkenberg, yet again – can we say that enough? – pulling the still-not-updated Force India to fifth place on the grid. Max Verstappen led the Renault-powered top-ten duo in his Toro Rosso in seventh, Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver Daniil Kvyat behind him in eighth. Kvyat, however, would start down the order because of a ten-place grid penalty for needing a fifth Renault engine. After that it's back to Mercedes Ferrari power, Felipe Nasr in the Sauber in ninth, Romain Grosjean in with Mercedes power in the Lotus in tenth – but fellow Lotus driver Pastor Maldonado actually started in tenth because of Kvyat's demotion. Before we get to the race, can we take a moment to talk about the shenanigans and gaudy penalties? Kimi Raikkonen waved the Ferrari flag in Canada after a season that's been full of "We didn't get it right this time," and we thought he was back. But no. In Austria the refrain returned, the Finn kicked out of Q1 after another miscommunication with the team – he qualified 18th. If the scenario plays to form, we'll now wait for team boss Mauricio Arrivabene to issue a clarification that suggests Raikkonen missed a step. Daniel Ricciardo parachutes ten spots back for the same reason as his teammate Kvyat, needing a fifth Renault power unit, dropping him to 18th on the grid and forcing him into a five-second time penalty when he comes in to pit.
