This particular example is a well-maintained and thoroughly documented example complete with service records back to 1995 and book set. Finished in a wonderfully elegant color combination of grey with dark blue interior, this car was sold new on 31 May 1995 in San Antonio, Texas. Its original window sticker price was $121,900. The car remained in Texas until 2004, at which point it was relocated to California, where it has remained since. It has been regularly serviced with the following work performed since 2011: new starter, new clutch, rebuilt climate control unit, timing belt replacement (May 2013), and routine servicing.

The car is in very good largely original cosmetic condition. The paint is in very good condition, with excellent luster and few blemishes. A few small chips have been touched up, and the front bumper has light road rash and a small crack at the bottom of the valence. The front deck lid has almost no marks on it, and the lights are in excellent shape. The wheels and in very good shape, with no significant curb rash and just a few minor marks. The glass and lights are excellent as is the top, which looks virtually unused.

The interior is in good condition. The leather is intact and nice overall, though there is some wear on the driver’s seat bolster and some creasing on the seats. The instruments are in very good condition and the dashboard is in good condition, although the leather on the instrument binnacle is shrinking slightly. The switches and controls are in very good to excellent shape, though some of the black interior components such as the ashtray lid have become tacky, a common issue with Ferraris of this period. The car was fitted with an expensive aftermarket stereo system as well.

The engine compartment and front compartment are both in original and very clean condition, in keeping with a properly maintained, low-mileage car. The front compartment is surprisingly large and in essentially as new condition.

The Ferrari LaFerrari is already one of the most extreme, high-performance, road-going cars ever built. And now, it's also the most expensive modern car ever sold at auction. Ferrari, along with RM Sotheby's and the National Italian American Foundation's Earthquake Relief Fund, officially sold the car as part of a charity auction benefiting the reconstruction efforts in central Italy. Total price? A whopping $7 million. Ferrari claims its extra LaFerrari – the company originally built this 500th example for its own collection Â– is the most expensive car from the 21st century ever sold at auction. As we mentioned in our original story from last week, all proceeds from the LaFerrari auction will benefit earthquake-ravaged central Italy. While the LaFerrari's lucky new owner can rest easy knowing their money went to a seriously good cause, they'll also get to enjoy a unique example of the final production LaFerrari. It's a simple tweak, but its Rosso Corsa paint body gets a white "dream line" on its hood and rear windshield, and the Italian tricolor on the nose. We like it, and we're guessing the citizens of central Italy will appreciate the money this special hypercar made for them. Related Video:

Ryan Tuerck and Gumout's Ferrari-swapped Toyota GT86 has clearly been a grueling labor of love. And now, finally, the competition-only car is near enough to completion that the team could fire up for the first time. And the sound coming out of the custom machine is incredible. In addition to putting out a short clip of the engine's glorious sound, Tuerck gives a detailed walkthrough of the entire vehicle and explains some of the custom touches behind the car. The exhaust, which comes out of the front end, for instance, was done to maintain the Ferrari 458 system's length. The result is supposed to mimic the sound of a stock 458, but we think it sounds more brutal than Maranello intended. This content is hosted by a third party. It is exactly the kind of winter Tuesday that absolutely requires a three-liter Ferrari flat-12 screaming at almost 10,000 rpm. In case you have been looking for such footage, you are in luck: here is about a minute's worth of a Ferrari racing engine liberated from its chassis, revving its guts out. There are blue flames and wonderful sounds – it's perfect. The dyno numbers in the end show the 312B2 reaching 365 horsepower, and BangShift notes that it's most likely an endurance engine build, engineered to withstand use for a lot longer than the 1970s F1 races lasted. As the engine builder, Carobu Engineering says, it is "a standard rebuild on an existing engine platform with no additional modifications for power. The primary consideration was reliability and clean running. While not the most powerful vintage F1 engine, it has been very reliable and smooth." Carobu's video commentary also says that the engine was originally received with broken timing gears when they first rebuilt it years ago. The first build produced 289 horsepower at 9000 rpm, and the second rebuild made 365 horsepower at 9800 rpm thanks to improved injection system tuning and ignition optimization.
