Race Recap: Canadian F1 Grand Prix is one story with a thousand dramas

Tue, 11 Jun 2013

There were rain and wind and sun, sometimes all at once. There was the Wall of Champions. There was nothing happening in first place and nothing happening back in sixth during the race, but everywhere else - from the time the weekend began - it was surprises, passes, spins, more passing, flying carbon fiber and finally a couple more last-minute surprises. The Canadian Formula One Grand Prix was a proper race for all the right reasons... well, except for the part where the crowd booed the winner.

Watch 40 Ferrari F12s hit the Nurburgring at once

Wed, Jul 22 2015

Of all the cars we'd love to drive around the Nurburgring, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta ranks pretty high. It's got mountains of power sent from a smooth V12 at the front to a set of fat tires at the back, near-perfect handling balance, anchor-like brakes... we could go on and on, but the point is that it'd be a hoot to drive on any track, let alone the vaunted Nordschleife. As you can see from this video, the boys from Maranello evidently agree. This latest owners' meeting attracted 40 F12s (and at least one California T) to the Green Hell to see how their machinery could handle one of (if not the) most challenging racing circuits in the world. Ferrari's chief test driver Raffaele de Simone was on hand to drive some hot laps, and the owners had the chance to push their F12s to near their limits. The official video footage is a little overproduced, in typical style, and could do with a little less dramatic music and a little more of the unbridled engine and exhaust sounds for which Ferraris are known. But as far as the fantasy of gaining admission to such an elite cadre of supercar owners, this is about as close as most of us are likely to get. Related Video:

Lionel Messi jokes about rumors he bought 1957 Ferrari 335S

Fri, Feb 12 2016

Rumors hint that star soccer player Lionel Messi was the highest bidder for the 1957 Ferrari 335S that sold for $34.9 million in Paris last week. He may have even outbid rival Cristiano Ronaldo to win the expensive Prancing Horse. Messi clearly heard about the speculation around his purchase and posted a photo of himself on Instagram holding Lightning McQueen from the Cars series. His jovial message read "My new car" and ended with several laughing emojis. According to Sport, the Ferrari's seller claimed Messi was the car's buyer in a press release about the auction, but the soccer star has decided to remain quiet. Sport further muddies the waters by citing anonymous sources close to Messi who deny he's the winning bidder. Whoever won the auction, we hope they let the public see this incredibly valuable, race-winning Ferrari sometime soon. This content is hosted by a third party.
