It has never been reported on any carfax report or when I bought it, but periodically the speedo will either freeze or not work. This was checked out by a local dodge dealer for a week and they found nothing on their diagnostic computer. PCM read gauge as working fine, but it will do this when the car gets hot. My guess is the rear wire as this problem is quite common on 1997-2000 Vipers. Just disclosing this fact, other than that there are no recalls or other issues not already fixed. Many Vipers have at least 2-3 recalls that have gone not fixed. One is the STEERING RACK, a very dangerous recall. This car has had this extensive repair!"

1998 Dodge Viper GTS.  I have no idea why this scores an Autocheck (22) when its biggest dings are that it was leased and owners, not how she runs?  Read the reports, most of the owners were due to the fact that they were dealers and then auctions, counting as 2.  In reality there were about 3 total owners, including me.  Run a CARFAX, it shows 4 total owners and also that the car is $1500 over current models from 1998 due to mileage.  Often you need to dissect these automated reports.  CARFAX is far better IMO.

Stock 450HP, V-10 engine.

I am selling car for a LOTUS EVORA or ELISE, so that's why it is on the market.  I just bought this car 3 months ago and realized it is far too much car for me.  This car is very fast but very long.  I am a shorter driver so I have difficulty seeing well.

NON STRIPED GTS!!!  This car has never had racing stripes.  If you want a Viper and do not want stripes, it is very hard to find one without them.  Most came striped or were striped after they were received.  I personally like it better without them.  If you do want them, your local Dodge dealer can put them on for about $800.  I did not want them.

No accidents ever reported with this car.  All recalls have been fixed.  Vipers are known for many recalls.

Exterior is a 9.75, with HRE incredible rims and tires that are 80%, interior is about an 8.5, maybe better.  I recently had the lower front bumper painted by an authorized Dodge dealer to get rid of years of rock marks and bumps.  The A/C was just serviced with all new freon and discharge line installed.  Most Vipers do not have a working A/C system at all.  The audio system is incredible and pumps out massive sound.  Mechanically, she runs very well with a great growl.

I did install a carbon fiber (CF) dash kit.  This is not fake CF, but real carbon fiber.  Car comes with custom Dodge Viper car cover, never sees rain and she runs very straight.

Jay Leno gets his denim mitts on Dodge's new Challenger Hellcat

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is definitely the performance car of the moment. The fact that in the near future, people will be able to buy a 707-horsepower muscle machine straight from a major automaker for $59,995 and with a factory warranty almost seems absurd. We drove it recently and found the Hellcat to be just as much of a beast as its numbers would suggest. Now, it's a certain comedian's turn behind the wheel in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
This week's guest is Dodge President and CEO Tim Kuniskis, and he's there to drop all sorts of interesting factoids about the Hellcat. For example, its Pirelli P Zero tires retail at around $300 each, he says. That makes its smoky burnouts a rather expensive proposition. Kuniskis, who recently hinted at a mystery Woodward Dream Cruise debut, also talks about the genesis of the 2015 SRT project with a goal to get over some of the standard Challenger's weight and size disadvantages. The fix is a supercharged V8, massive brakes and other goodies to smooth over the platform's more glaring shortcomings.
Leno appears to get a big kick out of the Hellcat. However, he can't seem to stop bringing up his desire to drive one with a six-speed manual. They obviously exist, but Kuniskis has an eight-speed automatic for the retired Tonight Show host to try out. Of course, as with any Hellcat video, there has to be at least one burnout. Despite the expensive tires, it seems like enthusiast's law at this point - and dear ol' Jay wouldn't want to break any rules, would he?

Hellcat motor 'fits like a glove' in the Wrangler and Gladiator, says Jeep

Tue, Apr 9 2019

Just like "technically correct" is the best kind of correct, "technically possible" is the best kind of possible. Specifically, it's technically possible to slot a Hellcat crate motor into the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, as confirmed by Jeep brand chief Tim Kuniskis. Speaking to Australian media last week, Kuniskis went on to say that "everybody" keeps asking him if the supercharged, 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 fits in the Wrangler and Gladiator, and that the answer is yes. "It fits like a glove," said Kuniskis. But — there is a but — the fitment is so close for comfort, it makes the combination one that Jeep can never produce. "There's no air space around the engine [...] so you have no crush space, you have nothing that can be used to absorb energy in a crash. It's not a problem to put it in — other than emissions and fuel economy — except it would never pass any crash tests, and that's a problem," as Kuniskis told Drive. However, since the Hellcat is now out of the bag, it's probably only a matter of time until hobbyists with access to these engines will start putting them into Wranglers and Gladiators. And with the time-honored piece of advice — just don't crash into anything — it'd be a combination worth seeing and hearing. Just to throw it out there, a "Hellcrate" engine costs less than $20,000 new. Kuniskis also said that Jeep is "gauging interest" for the J6 concept, one of the Easter Jeep Safari concepts that were just revealed. "[The J6] is just a concept at this stage. But that doesn't mean we're not going to gauge interest for it." However, he said justifying its production is apparently "tough."

Happy Hellcat Halloween

Tue, Oct 31 2017

Happy Halloween, everybody. There's no real Hellcat news in this post. No growl of the second-scariest Dodge Challenger SRT's 707-horsepower engine, no shriek of its supercharger. Just a Hellcat on a photo shoot. A little eye candy on Halloween. In a graveyard. With a black cat. (No cats were doomed to hell in the making of this feature.) But a Hellcat is a good kind of scary, so here are some of our previous galleries. And may a Hellcat cross your path soon. View 18 Photos View 17 Photos View 80 Photos Related Video:
