Unmolested 1997 Viper GTS in fantastic condition

This 1997 GTS is completely original with no modifications.  The Blue/White 1997 Viper GTS is an icon - as evidenced by the stylings of the brand new Vipers for 2013 which mimic this cars classic lines.

I've owned this car since 2005 and just haven't ever really driven it.  It's in great condition with flawless paint and flawless interior.  This car should be with someone who can truly enjoy it, and I'm officially out of garage space.  I've had the car for sale a few times before, but am not a motivated seller at all - so low ball offers won't fly here.  It's my opinion it may be a mistake to sell an unmolested original GTS as they may start to climb in price due to the renewed interest and throwback looks of the newly released Viper.  But, having put off selling it before and continuing to fight for space I'm again at a point that it's clear that this is the car that I should let go.  The 1997's don't have a switch for the passenger side airbag, so it's not a car that I can take my kids for a spin in even.  So, it's become the car that just doesn't get driven.

Back to condition:  The paint is fantastic, the interior is great.  The only slight flaw in the interior is the drivers side outer seat bolster shows some signs of wear which is common for these cars.  There are also two small paint bubbles on each of the sill plates in the same location on either side of the car.  This is another common issue with these cars and isn't rust but is due to the heat from the exhaust that runs under the sills.

The only modification done to the car is a fire prevention fix for the power steering pump so if it overflows it doesn't spray onto the exhaust which is why a few of these cars have burned to the ground.  The car also has a fire extinguisher that is mounted in front of the passenger seat for additional security.

Again, I'm not a super motivated seller so low balling won't work.  If you want a great example of the breed, this is the car to buy.  I've included a bunch of pics, but if you have any requests for anything specific please let me know.  The car is for sale here and locally, but nowhere else online.  I mention that because last time I listed the car over a year ago it showed up on cars.com with totally different contact information which was clearly some sort of scammer.

500+ hp Stellantis 'Hurricane' I6 previews a world without Hemis

Fri, Mar 25 2022

After years of rumored development, Stellantis has revealed its new six-cylinder engine family. The 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged "Hurricane" I6 will offer V8 power, forced induction torque and six-cylinder efficiency in a package designed to fit into any of the company's North American rear-wheel-drive platforms.  What is "V8 power," exactly? Well, in standard output guise, the new I6 cranks out more than 400 horsepower (the specific figure will vary by application) and 450 pound-feet of torque, while the high-output variant is good for more than 500 horses and 475 lb-ft. The final figures will be dependent on the application. We'll save you a little legwork: In current Ram, Jeep and Dodge products, the 5.7-liter Hemi tops out at about 395 hp and 410 lb-ft, give or take, and the 6.4-liter around 485 hp and 475 lb-ft.    This is a clean-sheet design that is only related to the company's turbocharged four-cylinder by some common measurements. The I6 is exclusively direct-injection (no hybrid/port-injection here) and the two I6 variants share 96 common parts, including the block and oil pan design. The differences are found in their internals, intake plumbing, valvetrain components and the turbochargers themselves. Stellantis is not yet ready to share specs or supplier info for the turbos but says announcements will come from its partners soon.  The standard-output I6 has a compression ratio of 10.4:1 and revs to 5,800 rpm. It will run on regular fuel, albeit with reduced performance; 91 octane is recommended for maximum output. The high-output variant has a compression ratio of 9.4:1 and will rev to 6,100 rpm. That one will require premium. The new I6's advantages go beyond basic power output. Every Hemi family engine currently in production is based on an iron block design, so they're heavy. The aluminum-block I6 shaves weight off the total engine package, even if some of that gets added back thanks to the turbos and their associated plumbing. The standard-output I6 weighs 430 pounds, Stellantis engineers told us; the high-output adds just another 11. Fully dressed 5.7-liter V8s are in the 550-560-pound ballpark, and 6.4-liters close in on 600 pounds.  You may be wondering, "Why a clean-sheet gasoline engine now, when the industry is moving toward battery-electrics?" A valid inquiry, and one Stellantis was prepared to address. While the company will be pivoting to electrification over the next decade, it won't be instantaneous.

Queens man knows how to party, disrupts Mets game with van

Fri, Jun 24 2016

A New Yorker and all-around true American hero took his weekend festivities a little too far and landed himself in front of a judge last week. According to NBC New York, Nelson Hidalgo drove his unassuming Sprinter to Citi Field on Saturday, June 18, around 10:45 p.m. While the Mets were getting thrashed by the Braves, Hidalgo pulled up to the intersection of 127th street and 35th avenue. Hiding within the van's cargo area were 80 speakers driven by powerful amps, around $20,000 worth of car audio. Hidalgo opened the Sprinter's rear doors, deployed his amazing speaker system, cracked a cold Coors Light, and unleashed hell. Noise complaints immediately started flooding in to the police, including one from the Mets' bullpen. Soon, Hidalgo amassed a sizable crowd who had come to rock out and marvel at the lunacy of the Sprinter's sound system. The NYPD showed up eventually and, undaunted by noise and the crowd, clapped the irons on poor Nelson. The Sprinter was impounded and Hildago was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance, general noise prohibition, disorderly conduct, and obstructing the driver's view. "I know it's illegal, but it's the weekend," he explained to the cops as they hauled him away. Once they had him in custody, the NYPD realized that Hidalgo was the person they had been looking for in connection with absurdly loud music coming from various city junkyards in the dead of night. Hidalgo, who has no prior record, spent the night in the slammer but was released the next morning with no bail on the promise that he return for his court date on August 1. Related Video:
