THIS IS A 2006 DODGE SPRINTER VAN.

IT'S A HIGH TOP, 158 INCH WHEEL BASE.

IT BELONGED TO A PLUMBING AND HEATING COMPANY SINCE NEW. IT WAS ORDERED WITH THE FACTORY DIVIDER WITH THE LOCKING SLIDING DOOR. THE PASS SEAT IS JUST A JUMP SEAT, AND THE PASS SIDE AIR BAG WAS DELETED. IT WAS NOT A DELIVERY VAN.

IT HAS POWER WINDOWS AND LOCKS, CRUISE CONTROL, AND TWO SKYLIGHTS IN THE REAR CARGO AREA.

IT WAS REPAINTED. IT'S NOT THE BEST JOB, BUT IT'S PRESENTABLE. IT HAS A DENT THAT WAS PUSHED OUT, AND IT HAS SOME RUST ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SLIDING DOOR THAT WASN'T FIXED VERY WELL (see pics). BEFORE BEING PAINTED, THE PAINT WAS ALL ORIGINAL. IT WAS REPAINTED BECAUSE IT WAS COVERED IN LETTERING THAT HAD TO BE SCRAPED OFF.

THE INTERIOR IS IN GOOD SHAPE AND CLEAN.

IT RUNS AND DRIVES WELL, BUT IT DOES HAVE A FEW ISSUES. IT HAS A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD COMING DOWN FROM THE TOP ABOUT 6 INCHES. IT NEEDS FRONT STABILIZER BAR BUSHINGS (IT HAS A SHAKE AROUND 70 MPH). THE A/C HAS PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM, BUT THE COMPRESSOR ISN'T KICKING ON.

IT ALSO HAS THE TYPICAL "RUMBLE STRIP NOISE". IT'S NOT VERY STRONG, AND IT MOSTLY GOES AWAY WHEN IT'S WARMED UP. IF YOUR NOT FAMILIAR WITH WHAT THAT IS, HERE IS A LINK THAT EXPLAINS IT, AND EXPLAINS HOW TO CORRECT IT.

http://dieselrepairblog.wordpress.com/2012/03/23/sprinter-transmission-rsn-repair/

THE TIRES HAVE ABOUT 65% TREAD LEFT. IT DRIVES STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. THE BRAKES FEEL GOOD. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IS IN GOOD SHAPE, BUT NOT NEW. THE OIL LOOKS CLEAN, BUT I HAVE NO SERVICE RECORDS SO I WOULD SUGGEST AN OIL SERVICE SOONER THAN LATER.

IT'S A TYPICAL DODGE SPRINTER, RUNS WELL, NEEDS A FEW THINGS, BUT SHOULD GO ANOTHER 200K MILES WITH A LITTLE TLC.

Takata air bag recall list

Tue, Dec 9 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed yesterday that 33.8 million vehicles with Takata airbags are going to be recalled. It's the largest recall in automotive history. The already record-breaking rate of automotive recalls this year shows no signs of slowing down, especially since millions of cars with defective airbags made by global supplier Takata are under ongoing scrutiny. The federal government is warning owners that inflator mechanisms in the air bags can rupture, causing metal fragments to fly out when the bags are deployed. The faulty air bags have already been blamed for multiple deaths. How do you know if your vehicle is safe? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released an updated list of vehicles under recall. Sometimes however, the government's website will crash and the list may not be complete. Check your VIN at the NHTSA website to make sure. The list of cars affected by the recall has not been released, but seem to span multiple models over the years for many of the automakers.

As Dodge Challenger changes, hybrid or however else, it's sure to stay retro

Thu, Aug 15 2019

Unverified rumors claim Dodge will make major technical changes to the Charger and the Challenger (pictured) to comply with looming regulations. They'll likely be lighter than they currently are, they could get smaller in nearly every direction, and you can safely bet that they'll incorporate some degree of electrification. The retro-inspired, heritage-laced design is here to stay, however. Mark Trostle, Dodge's horsepower-addicted chief of design, told Muscle Car & Trucks that looks deserve a big chunk of credit for making the Charger and the Challenger as popular as they are. Horsepower and quarter-mile times help sell cars, but it's the "magic of their design" that lures buyers into showrooms to check out the modern-day muscle cars in the metal. "I wouldn't want to ruin something that's been so successful for us," Trostle concluded. He compared the Challenger to the Jeep Wrangler, another design icon in the Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) portfolio. The offroader entered its fourth generation in 2018; every part of it is new, and it's not a Xerox copy of its predecessor, but it's still immediately recognizable as a Wrangler. Trostle hinted he's planning this type of evolutionary design for the next-generation Challenger. After all, it's part of the company's history, and heritage is something no amount of money can buy.  While it sounds like development work on the next-generation Challenger is ongoing, Dodge isn't finished with the current-generation car yet. The nameplate will celebrate its 50th birthday during the 2020 model year, and it's reasonable to assume Dodge has something special planned for it.

Junkyard Gem: 1963 Dodge Dart two-door sedan

Mon, Mar 6 2017

The 1963-1966 Dodge Dart, sibling to the Plymouth Valiant, was sturdy, cheap, and easy to drive, and it sold very well. Here's a worn-but-solid example of the two-door '63 Dart sedan, spotted in a Denver-area self-service wrecking yard. The only transmission choices for the Dart this year were a three-speed manual and an automatic controlled by Chrysler's famous dash-mounted pushbutton shifter. These shifters worked surprisingly well, even when used for road racing. Starting in the 1964 model year, the Dart could be purchased with a 273-cubic-inch V8 engine, but in 1963 Dart buyers had but two engine choices: a slant-6 displacing 170 cubic inches and good for 101 horsepower and a slant-6 displacing 225 cubic inches and making 145 horsepower. This car has the big engine. This is one of the most reliable engines to come out of Detroit, period. The interior is pretty beat, but the metal isn't rusty. You'd think that someone would have rescued this car long before it came to this sorry end, but perhaps Dart restorers only want numbers-matching V8 cars these days.
