1982 Dodge Custom Airbrushed Van Re-built 360 4 Barrel Nice Driver Fast!! on 2040-cars
Islip Terrace, New York, United States
|
Up for auction is this 1982 Dodge Van. Fantastic older restoration and amazing airbrushing all around. Re-built 360 4 barrel with mild cam and dual exhaust. 20,000 miles on engine. 94,000 on van total. Nice blue grant steering wheel and tachometer. Insured as a classic for next to nothing. Was an award winner when completed 25 + years ago. Custom door panels and upper metal door interior is been airbrushed on both sides with scenes. I have access to a parts van if the winner wants to have the original radio or any extra stuff.
The photo with the aluminum rims was taken a few years ago Older restoration and paint, roof is faded but is plain metallic blue and easy to re-paint. Drivers rear lower quarter extension behind rear wheel has had rust repair that should to be re-done or touched up. Hood is starting to fade, small chips etc. Sides and rear are nice but needs scratch touched up on driver's side. Undercarriage and floors are super-clean rust free. Seats are original and in excellent condition, no rips, burns, or damage. Carpet is in good condition and pretty clean. Sunroof front and rear. Dash clean, no cracks. All fluids have been changed including transmission fluid and filter. New front end bushings, universal joints, ball joints, brakes, and calipers, brand new Holley 650 4 barrel carburetor. New alternator. Has a mild cam, new throaty dual exhaust with side outlets, but still idles and sounds nice. Likes premium gas and long highway drives which I don't do enough of. E-brake works and heat. There is a scratch on the driver's side of the van that will need to be repaired. It may be seen in the photo taken with my niece. I was going to touch the van up and carefully blow in the scratch with hobby paints, but I don't have the time to spend on it. I haven't even had time to wax it. I have used it on the highway and in town and it is reliable. I even moved with it. Front tires are new. Rear tires should be replaced. Old Cragar rims are cool and would clean-up with some SOS suds but they have areas of peeling chrome. They are vintage and have all center caps in good condition. This Van with the right person to bring it back is really special. Needs time that I don't have to touch-up and tinker. Roadable decent daily driver as-is. Gas gauge needs to be fixed. Oil pressure is great and runs cool. Has transmission cooler. Van needs to warm up or transmission will act-up or slip after sitting for more than a week. Van is parked in Brooklyn, New York. May put it in my garage on long island this week. Will try and get some better pictures as well. Will try and get more pictures up soon. Looks good in person but defects don't show in the pictures well. Scratch is noticeable and long. Paint is aged but serviceable. Not a show car!!! On Jul-27-14 at 15:42:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Today I took the van for a 60 mile trip and it ran perfectly. I would feel confident to drive it anywhere. I re-checked the transmission fluid and it was low, I guess the transmission cooler adds to the capacity. I added over a quart and it really feels great. May not be new, but should not cause any trouble for many more miles. The van is also very comfortable and rides well with no rattles or squeaks. |

Autoblog Minute: 2016 Dodge Charger pursuit vehicle gets Uconnect 12.1
Fri, Sep 11 2015Dodge introduces new tech into its 2016 pursuit vehicles that even Jake and Elwood couldn't outrun. Autoblog's Adam Morath reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Dodge introduces new tech into its 2016 pursuit vehicles that even Jake and Elwood couldn't outrun. I'm Adam Morath and this is your Autoblog Minute. The 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit vehicles are getting Uconnect 12.1. The system's new laptop size touch screen will be dash mounted and at 12.1" is 5 times larger than the current Uconnect 5.0 system. Features of Uconnect 12.1 [00:00:30] include an all-new drag and drop menu bar and Siri Eyes Free. No clunky laptops needed because the system is ergonomically located in the dash. The SRT pursuit vehicles will also be getting 370 hp, factory-installed Mopar upfit packages and an advanced all-wheel-drive system for maximum tactical performance, all-weather traction and fuel-efficiency. [00:01:00] It's clear that the new Charger pursuit vehicles have all the best tech available from Dodge but one important question remains: Do these cruisers got S.C.M.O.D.S.? For Autoblog, I'm Adam Morath. Autoblog Minute is a short-form video news series reporting on all things automotive. 8 things you learn while driving a cop car [w/videos]
Tue, Jan 27 2015Let me start off with the obvious: it is absolutely illegal to impersonate a police officer. And now that that's out of the way, I'd just like to say that driving a cop car is really, really cool. Here's the background to this story: Dodge unveiled its redesigned 2015 Charger Pursuit police cruiser, and kindly allowed Autoblog to test it. That meant fellow senior editor Seyth Miersma and I would spend a week with the cop car, and the goal here was to see just how different the behind-the-wheel experience is, from a civilian's point of view. After all, it's not technically a police car – it isn't affiliated with any city, it doesn't say "police" anywhere on it, and it's been fitted with buzzkill-worthy "NOT IN SERVICE" magnets (easily removed for photos, of course). But that meant nothing. As Seyth and I found out after our week of testing, most people can't tell the difference, and the Charger Pursuit commands all the same reactions as any normal cop car would on the road. Here are a few things we noticed during our time as wannabe cops. 1. You Drive In A Bubble On The Highway Forget for a moment that our cruiser was liveried with Dodge markings instead of those of the highway patrol. Ignore the large "NOT IN SERVICE" signs adhered around the car. Something in the lizard brain of just about every licensed driver tells them to hold back when they see any hint of a cop car, or just the silhouette of a light bar on a marked sedan. Hence, when driving on the highway, and especially when one already has some distance from cars forward and aft, a sort of bubble of fear starts to open up around you. Cars just ahead seem very reluctant to pass one another or change lanes much, while those behind wait to move up on you until there's a full herd movement to do so. The effect isn't perfect – which is probably ascribable to the aforementioned giveaways that I'm not really a cop – but it did occur on several occasions during commutes from the office. 2. You Drive In A Pack In The City My commute home from the Autoblog office normally takes anywhere from 25 to 30 minutes, and it's a straight shot down Woodward Avenue from Detroit's north suburbs into the city, where I live. Traffic usually moves at a steady pace, the Michigan-spec "five-over" speed.
Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle
Sun, Aug 21 2022The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world.
