The Biggest, Baddest Camper

+ The Biggest, Baddest Truck

= The Ultimate Road Warrior:

***Your 6-wheel-drive rolling Condo***

This rig is loaded (just fill up the fridge!), all tricked out and ready to hit the road. You can pretty much go wherever you want as this combo is equally at home cruising down the interstate, sitting under a palm tree at a full service campground, or off the road and off the grid. Put her in 4x4 and climb dirt roads up a mountain or air out the tires and go chill on a secluded beach (don't try this in an RV!).

THE TRUCK

2001 Dodge 3500 Laramie SLT Quad Cab,VIN 1B7MF33621J217370. Fresh oil change, Transmission service, a/c charge, 2 new tires and nice bright headlights. There are no dents; just your typical scratches and dings – nothing of note except some rust scaling on the bottom of both front doors which is a common occurrence on this vintage of Dodge trucks. There's also a spot on the RF fender that needs touch-up. I'll try to get this minor bodywork done next week; it's just spot-primed with rust reformer right now. There are a couple of weather cracks in the top of the dashboard cover. The LF wheel cover is scraped. This truck did double duty as my work vehicle for a while so the bed is a little beat up but invisible with the camper mounted. I have the tailgate and a few extra accessories such as a RC winch and HitchHaul carrier for the front or rear reciever (great for bikes or firewood).

FEATURES:

  • 5.9 liter Cummins TD: This is a GREAT engine and just broken in at 117k. Perma-Cool 40156 HD dual-filter oil cooler.

  • Rebuilt 47RH/RF transmission @ 92,500, Super HD billet torque converter, Perma-Cool HD trans-cooler.

  • Batteries: 2x NAPA Legend 75 860CA/710 CCA. Maintenance free.

  • Battery isolator: Sure Power Industries 12023A

  • Air Lift airbag rear suspension levels the load side to side and takes the action off of the helper springs,

  • Stereo: factory AM/FM CD Cassette (front speakers are not currently working).

THE CAMPER

2000 Alpenlite Limited Santa Fe 11' Extended Queen Cab-over, VIN 18115. Well kept and fully loaded with all available options and all in proper working order. Some de-lamination has occurred over the years. A slide-in truck camper has no propulsion nor wheels so is technically not a vehicle. Therefore, there is no title nor registration associated with it; a simple Bill of Sale is sufficient for legal transfer.

FEATURES:

Aluminum frame construction, EPDM rubber roof, block foam insulation and abundant storage throughout. Full safety package including LPG, CO and smoke detector/alarms, fire extinguisher, GFI receptacles and skylight escape hatch. Full dry bathroom (separate shower). Chrysler Recalls Over 566,000 Trucks, SUVs

Wed, Oct 29 2014

Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 566,000 trucks and SUVs in two recalls for malfunctioning fuel heaters that can cause fires and a software glitch can disable the electronic stability control. The recalls bring the newly merged company's total for the year to 6.4 million vehicles worldwide and 5.1 million in the U.S. as it continues to struggle with reliability problems. It was not immediately clear whether those totals were annual records. On Tuesday, its longtime quality chief abruptly left after Fiat Chrysler performed poorly in Consumer Reports magazine's annual reliability rankings. The largest of two recalls announced Wednesday covers almost 382,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and Ram 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs from 2010 through 2014. In trucks with 6.7-Liter Cummins diesel engines, corrosion on a fuel heater terminal could cause overheating, fuel leaks and fires. Chrysler is not aware of any fires or injuries. Owners could be warned by an odor of diesel fuel. Customers will be notified by letters starting in December. Dealers will install upgraded terminals and fuel heater housings could be replaced. The second recall covers more than 184,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from 2014. A debris cover over a circuit board in the steering column control module can disrupt communications and disable the stability control. The problem was discovered when dealers started getting reports from customers that electronic stability control warning lights were coming on. Fiat Chrysler says it knows of no crashes or injuries caused by the problem. Technicians will upgrade software to fix the SUVs, and customers will be notified in December. Fiat Chrysler has issued 33 global recalls and 27 in the U.S. so far this year. Doug Betts, its longtime quality chief, left the company to pursue other options after Consumer Reports' survey-based rankings this year showed four FiatChrysler brands at the bottom of its list. Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Fiat performed worst of 28 brands ranked by the magazine. Company spokesman Eric Mayne said Fiat Chrysler's recalls average fewer than 200,000 vehicles each, below the industry average of 301,000. That means the company is responding quickly to problems, he said, adding that eight of its 27 U.S. recalls were announced before the company received any consumer complaints. Chrysler is not alone with a high number of recalls so far this year.

The Chrysler brand could be axed under Stellantis management

Sun, Jan 3 2021

MILAN — While running NissanÂ’s North American operations from 2009 to 2011, Carlos Tavares had a reputation for closely watching costs with little tolerance for vehicles or ventures that didnÂ’t make money. Experts say that means Tavares, currently the head of PSA Group, is likely to follow that blueprint when he becomes leader of a merged PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The low-performing Chrysler brand might get the axe as could slow-selling cars, SUVs or trucks that lack potential. Already the companies are talking about consolidating vehicle platforms — the underpinnings and powertrains — to save billions in engineering and manufacturing costs. That could mean job losses in Italy, Germany and Michigan as PSA Peugeot technology is integrated into North American and Italian vehicles. “You canÂ’t be cost efficient if you keep the entire scale of both companies,” said Karl Brauer, executive analyst for the iSeeCars.com auto website. “WeÂ’ve seen this show before, and weÂ’re going to see it again where they economize these platforms across continents, across multiple markets.” Shareholders of both companies are to meet Monday to vote on the merger to form the worldÂ’s fourth-largest automaker, to be called Stellantis. The deal received EU regulatory approval just before Christmas. Tavares, who for years has wanted to sell PSA vehicles in the U.S., wonÂ’t take full control of the merged companies until the end of January at the earliest. He likely will target Europe for consolidation first, because thatÂ’s where Fiat vehicles overlap extensively with PSAÂ’s, said IHS Markit Principal Auto Analyst Stephanie Brinley. Europe has been a money-loser for FCA, and factories in Italy are operating way below capacity — a concern for unions, given FiatÂ’s role as the largest private sector employer in the country. “We are at a crossroads,Â’Â’ said Michele De Palma of the FIOM CGIL metalworkersÂ’ union. “Either there is a relaunch, or there is a slow agonizing closure of industry, in particular the auto industry, in Italy.” ItalyÂ’s hopes lie with the luxury Maserati and sporty Alfa Romeo brands, but De Palma said investments are needed to bring hybrid and electric technology up to speed. FiatÂ’s Italian capacity stands at 1.5 million vehicles, but only a few hundred thousand are being produced each year. Most factories were on rolling short-term layoffs due to lack of demand, even before the pandemic.

Dodge Demon priced at $84,995, or almost 20 grand more than a Hellcat

Tue, May 23 2017

Ridiculousness has a price, and it is $84,995. That is the admission fee for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, or as most people call it: The Demon. The number includes a $1,700 gas guzzler tax and $1,095 destination fee. It does not include a number of options, may of which cost a dollar. Of those $1 options, a front passenger seat and rear seats are but two. Which is more of a reminder that, yes, Dodge will sell you car with only one seat if you want it that way. The other big $1 option is the Demon Crate, which includes skinny front tires for the drag strip, an impact wrench and jack, and a performance powertrain control module that bumps the power up to 840 hp on race gas. Dodge says the true value of the crate is $6,140. Don't let that fool you, as chances are they're just baking that cost in the $19,705 increase from the Challenger Hellcat. Did we mention you can get a sunroof. Yes, you can get a sunroof, for $4,995. Surely one of the 3,300 Demon buyers (3,000 in the US, 300 in Canada) will take pride in checking every option box. For posterity, here's the entire list verbatim from Dodge's press release: Demon Crate ($1): Exclusive Demon Crate offers components that unleash the car's 840 horsepower, 770 lb.-ft. of torque and full potential at the drag strip and is personalized with the buyer's name, VIN and serial number. The Demon Crate and the performance parts it holds are valued at $6,140, but Challenger SRT Demon owners can buy the entire package for $1.
