1999 Dodge Ram 3500 quad cab sport 4x4. 5.9l 24 valve Cummins Turbo diesel with ONLY 148k. Anyone that knows these motors knows that this mileage is just breaking in. Truck is fairly clean and not abused. Clean carfax and auto check. The body is in fair shape with no major damage, just some scratches from normal wear and tear...it is a pick up truck. Runs STRONG...motor starts and runs perfect and pulls extremely strong....many, many years and miles left. Has a brand new alternator and the batteries are fairly new...no cranking issues what so ever. Transfer case shifts smoothly into 4 high and low every time, no engagement issues. I personally drove the vehicle myself and the front end is tight and drives smooth. There is a little play in the steering wheel, but in my experience ever solid front axle Dodge does. It is very minimal and there are no worries when driving. It is a quad cab so the back doors do open as well. SLT package which gives you power windows, door locks, cruise control and a bunch of other micelanious options. Also has the sport appearance package which replaces all the chrome with color matching bumpers and grill, very sharp looking. As for the exhaust, it has been modified with a dual stack set up coming through the bed...looks great and sounds MEAN.
Now for the bad, as typical with all Dodge diesels in this generation it has a weak transmission. Still drives fine and cruises down the road perfect, but when you start in drive it doesn't start out in 1st it feels like. You can manually put it down into 1st gear and it goes, but when in drive doesn't feel like it starts in it. Could be a linkage issue, could be an internal issue...that's part of the reason this truck will be selling so cheap. Once again, when on the highway, it drives fine, just when starting out. and the body, it is in fair shape with no major damage, but there are a lot of little scratches that I tried to show as best I could in the pics...if you would like any specific close up pics, please message me and I will send them right away. NOT trying to hide anything. There is the one spot by the door that has a little bit of rust coming through...nothing that could not be fixed easily. Please feel free to ask anything prior to bidding. I will also provide my cell phone number upon request to make it easier to communicate any information. I have tried to describe this vehicle to the best of my knowledge and ability, so please before bidding make sure you ask anything so if you do end up being the winning bidder and get the vehicle there are no surprises. A $500 deposit is due with in 24 hours of the end of the auction and final payment Arrangements must be made with in 72 hours. I will be glad to assist the winning bidder in making the Arrangements for shipping as I do know of several shipping companies that go all over the United States. Bid with confidence. Chrysler investing $20M in Toledo plant to support 9-speed auto production
Sun, 28 Apr 2013In 2011, Chrysler announced a $72-million investment in its Toledo Machining Plant to modernize production of the eight- and nine-speed torque-converters for automatic transmissions made there. That upgrade work won't be finished until Q3 of this year, but Chrysler has already announced a further $19.6-million investment to increase production capacity for the nine-speeders.
The extra units will be necessary because the nine-speed transmission they'll be mated to is going into three popular models: it will debut on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, then go into the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. The company predicted that this year alone it would sell 200,000 units equipped with the nine-speed tranny, and it is spending some $374 million in addition to the investment in Toledo to upgrade production capacity for it.
The work attached to this new investment won't begin until Q3 of 2014, and it will be finished by the end of that year. There's a press release below with all the details.
Driving the 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit | Bells and whistles, lights and sirens
Tue, Jul 24 2018Recently, we went to the FCA proving grounds in Chelsea, Mich., to test out the company's 2019 model-year lineup. There are a lot of cars to choose from, and only a limited time to drive them, so since we couldn't drive the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye (that drive is coming soon, though) naturally we gravitated to the flashiest, noisiest one: the 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit police vehicle. This is the first time the Durango is being offered as a cop car, and there are a number of features that make it fit for service. All Durango Pursuit models feature all-wheel drive, and it's available with two different engines. The standard motor is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, providing 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The tester we got to drive, though, was equipped with the 5.7-liter hemi V8, good for 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. It also has a load-leveling performance suspension, which really helped out when we tossed it around the handling course. It has 8.1 inches of ground clearance, which means it can get to scenes off the beaten path. As much as we loved driving it, we had the most fun just playing with the lights and sirens of the Durango Pursuit. Standing outside the vehicle, the sirens and horn are incredibly loud, enough to make bystanders jump in fright. Dodge did a good job with the sound deadening, though, and the sustained wail wasn't bothersome when chasing imaginary suspects around the test track. One feature we didn't get to test out, but important to police duty, was the special Uconnect system in the Durango Pursuit. More than just an infotainment system, the seven-inch display is equipped to integrate various law enforcement systems. Another cool detail about the car, its tri-zone climate system is ideal for K9 units, with the ability to set separate HVAC settings for the dogs in the back of the car. Check out the video above, and stay tuned for more videos to come from our time spent at FCA's Chelsea proving grounds. Chrysler recalling 2009-2010 Ram 1500, Dodge Dakota pickups over axle pinion nut
Mon, 08 Oct 2012Chrysler is issuing a recall for the 2009 and 2010 Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota pickup trucks due to improper installation of the rear axle pinion nut. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 44,300 trucks are affected by the recall, and there have been 12 confirmed incidents including one crash.
The issue on both trucks is that the pinion nut is loosening on some trucks due to a lack of thread adhesive, and it is causing the rear axle to lock up resulting in loss of vehicle control. NHTSA's recall notice says that eight incidents occurred at speeds over 35 miles per hour and most also exhibited driveshaft failures as well since the loss of the pinion nut would cause the gear to separate from the driveshaft. In one complaint, the driveshaft separated from the rear axle and punctured the gas tank.
Chrysler will begin sending out recall notices to affected owners in November, but scroll down to see the official NHTSA notice.
