2003 DODGE RAM 2500 SLT QUAD LONGBED 4X2 DIESEL HO CUMMINS 88,891 Mi

I am selling my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Quad Cab Longbed 4X2
with the High Output Cummins Diesel and 88,891 original miles

Truck is in the Nanaimo, British Columbia area.

For Mainland buyers I can meet you at the Nanaimo Ferry Terminal with the truck for viewing

I will deliver the truck to Tsawwassan or Horseshoe Bay terminal at no charge after the truck is confirmed paid for

This Ram was originally sold in the US to a retired couple who towed their trailer to Florida for the winters. I have original service receipts showing the truck in Florida during the winter. The original owner & his wife passed away and the truck went to their son, who sold it to me. I am the 3rd owner.

A carfax comes with the truck showing 3 owners, and no accidents or claims of any kind. This truck has the proper original US DOT safety and emissions stickers in place, plus the proper Canadian RIV sticker and paperwork from when I imported it into Canada – see photos below.

This truck complies with all applicable safety and emissions laws in both Canada and the US and according to US Customs can be registered for the road anywhere in the US, or registered anywhere in Canada. According to US Customs because it was originally built for and sold in the US, it can be re-imported into the US without any duties charged. I received a copy of the original title in the original owner’s name showing it titled originally in the US. I also received the original build sheet supplied by Dodge showing the same original owner’s name and all the options he ordered on the truck. The truck comes with all paperwork for the importations into Ontario, Canada and then into British Columbia, which required independent professional safety/mechanical fitness inspections both times, which the truck passed with no problems. All of this original paperwork comes with the truck.

This truck is built for long distance hauling with good fuel economy. It has the optional HO Cummins diesel engine with 555 pound-ft of torque and 2-WD with a limited slip differential.

The Dodge Ram website shows the maximum tow weight for this truck at 13,550 pounds and the CGWR weight at 20,000 pounds (search on: dodgeram.info/2003/load-tow/2500).

This is my personal truck bought to move across Canada to BC, and I do not use it enough to justify keeping. This truck is not for off-roading. It is for hauling loads big distances economically. The trip computer in the truck shows about 22-23 MPG on the highway empty, and about 19.5 MPG pulling 6,000 pounds on the level. The 5th wheel mount that the original owner had installed for his trailer is still in the bed.

This has never been a work or commute truck. It has been garaged while I owned it. The truck is clean with no tears or rips in the interior. It has 4 near-new Bridgestones, drives terrific, and is properly maintained. In the last 9,000 miles the truck has been serviced mostly by Dodge Ram dealers with new brake rotors + pads front & rear, new front wheel bearings, new parking brake shoes, and new rear axle seals. These receipts come with the truck. Also regular oil & filter changes and rear axle lube changed. Both batteries replaced by Dodge Ram dealer with Dodge OEM batteries shortly before I purchased it.

This truck is in really good cosmetic and operating condition but, as a used vehicle is sold with no guarantees expressed or implied. It has 88,891 miles at the time this is written and is 10 years old. It is not a new truck, but has been lightly used and well cared for. There are imperfections, one shown in photos: a small dent next to the right rear tail light. Also a small dent on the tailgate and two small dents in the rear bumper.

The truck comes with its original build sheet from Dodge showing all the options plus its original owners manual and other books.

The options on this truck include:

Optional High Output Cummins diesel engine with 555 pound-ft (standard engine was 460 pound-ft).

The build sheet says this engine option cost $5,225 in 2003

6-speed manual transmission and 11.50 LSD differential

8 foot longbed

Tow package, 7-pin connector

Power front drivers seat and front centre storage cushion/bins

Extra lights in sun visors, dome, and underhood.

Auto dim rear view mirror

Keyless entry with alarm. The truck comes with the two original keys and remotes, which work

Optional folding flat-load rear floor with storage underneath

Sliding rear window, tow mirrors, fog lamps, hood shield, leather wrapped wheel

Also has all the standard stuff for the SLT including A/C (WORKS), trip/mileage computer, etc

Also comes with a very nice Swiss topper with keys and locks that work, made specifically for this truck

I have described this truck to the best of my ability.
Viewing the truck is encouraged.
I will work with bidders to answer questions or get additional photos.

Please ask your questions before the bidding ends.

Bidders must have funds or a cash line of credit available for this truck before bidding.
Banks will seldom provide funds quickly for a used vehicle.
If you do not have funds or a cash line of credit available to pay for the truck please do not bid.

TERMS:

A $500 deposit, either CDN$ or US$, must be paid using PayPal within 24 hours of the end of this auction.

Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of the end of bidding to discuss final payment, and the truck must be fully paid by certified bank check, bank money order, or bank-to-bank wired money within one week after the end of bidding.

Truck must be paid for before it will be released.

US bidders must be able to pick the truck up in British Columbia at either the Tsawwassan or Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal so they can bring the truck into the US.
The Tsawwassan ferry terminal is 25 miles from the US border crossing at Blaine, Washington.

Chrysler recalls small number of 2013-2014 cars and trucks over engine debris

Thu, 12 Dec 2013

Chrysler is recalling a small number cars over issues with their 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. The recall, which affects 522 examples of its 2013 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200 models, as well as 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot CUVs has to do with potential debris in the balance shaft bearings.
The abrasive stuff can cause the oil pressure to drop, which could lead to the engine stalling or outright failure. This situation could at best leave drivers stranded and at worst lead to a crash.
Chrysler will begin notifying owners, who will need to report in to have the balance shaft module replaced. All repairs are naturally free of charge. Scroll down for the bulletin from NHTSA.

Hellcat motor 'fits like a glove' in the Wrangler and Gladiator, says Jeep

Tue, Apr 9 2019

Just like "technically correct" is the best kind of correct, "technically possible" is the best kind of possible. Specifically, it's technically possible to slot a Hellcat crate motor into the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, as confirmed by Jeep brand chief Tim Kuniskis. Speaking to Australian media last week, Kuniskis went on to say that "everybody" keeps asking him if the supercharged, 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 fits in the Wrangler and Gladiator, and that the answer is yes. "It fits like a glove," said Kuniskis. But — there is a but — the fitment is so close for comfort, it makes the combination one that Jeep can never produce. "There's no air space around the engine [...] so you have no crush space, you have nothing that can be used to absorb energy in a crash. It's not a problem to put it in — other than emissions and fuel economy — except it would never pass any crash tests, and that's a problem," as Kuniskis told Drive. However, since the Hellcat is now out of the bag, it's probably only a matter of time until hobbyists with access to these engines will start putting them into Wranglers and Gladiators. And with the time-honored piece of advice — just don't crash into anything — it'd be a combination worth seeing and hearing. Just to throw it out there, a "Hellcrate" engine costs less than $20,000 new. Kuniskis also said that Jeep is "gauging interest" for the J6 concept, one of the Easter Jeep Safari concepts that were just revealed. "[The J6] is just a concept at this stage. But that doesn't mean we're not going to gauge interest for it." However, he said justifying its production is apparently "tough."

Feds accuse Fiat Chrysler, UAW of conspiring to break labor laws

Wed, Jun 13 2018

DETROIT — Top officials of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the United Auto Workers union conspired to violate U.S. labor laws, federal prosecutors alleged in a court document, saying a former executive at the automaker knew bribes paid to union leaders were designed to "grease the skids" in labor negotiations. U.S. Justice Department officials for the first time called the company and the union "co-conspirators" in a document related to a guilty plea agreed by former Fiat Chrysler director of employee relations Michael Brown. The document was filed with the U.S. District Court in Detroit on May 25. Its contents were reported by the Detroit News on Wednesday. Brown pleaded guilty to one count of concealing a felony. The plea agreement stated that he knew Fiat Chrysler executives authorized $1.5 million in improper payments and travel, liquor, cigars and other goods for UAW officials who served on the union's negotiating committee. Prosecutors say FCA executives paid UAW representatives to influence union business. including collective bargaining on contracts ratified in 2011 and 2015. The government contends money was run through the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center, via false charitable donations and training center credit cards. Fiat Chrysler Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne has said in the past that the misconduct "had nothing whatsoever to do with the collective bargaining process" and the "egregious acts were neither known to nor sanctioned" by the company. Fiat Chrysler had no further comment Monday. Outgoing UAW President Dennis Williams told union leaders at a conference in Detroit on Monday "our leadership team had no knowledge of the misconduct — which involved former union members and former auto executives — until it was brought to our attention by the government." Brown pleaded guilty on May 25, according to court documents, and will be sentenced on Sept. 20. Five other people have pleaded guilty in the government's ongoing investigation into the UAW and Fiat Chrysler, including the wife of a late UAW official, two other former UAW employees, former Fiat Chrysler vice president Alphons Iacobelli and another former Fiat Chrysler employee.
