1957 Dodge Power Giant W100 V8 4x4 project truck.  No Rust at 54,000 miles!

Rare first year factory 4wd.   I think this is truck number 540 of about 600 made that year.

These were the top dog in their day by combining the rugged and proven 4wd of the WWII Power Wagon with the modern style and impressive V8 power of the regular 2wd Dodge Truck line.  1957 was a one-year-only body style and very few V8 4wd trucks were ordered due to the high cost.  Fortunately, the U.S. Government bought quite a few for Forest Service, BLM, and Rural Fire.  This truck was a Forest Service Rural Fire unit.  The boys in the motor-pool knew this one was special so they gave it dual exhaust and a very nice Green Metal Flake.

This truck has the first gen 318.  The motor starts and runs strong, but the carb needs a seal kit. It has the 4-speed manual, NP201 transfer case, first year Dana 44 axle, and first year Dodge 8-3/4" rear.  The brakes and steering need attention.  It can drive on a trailer, but should be gone through before hitting the highway.  The seats are a bit rough and need bolted down, but have nice covers.  The bed needs new wood.  Rear glass missing.  Overall this truck has awesome style and solid metal, it just needs those finishing details that I can't do since I am in a wheelchair now.  Please see pictures!

EXTRA passenger door included in the sale.  I also have a 1957 W200 parts chassis that is for sale (transfer case, drive lines, springs, axles, steering gear).  I have many other parts including extra fenders a 56 front clip, a 57 short box, and other early Dodge Truck parts that I need to clean out.

CLEAR MONTANA TITLE is in my name.

This is a 'no-reserve' auction with no 'buy-it-now' price.  Highest bidder wins the truck.  Shipping is the buyers responsibility.  Truck is sold as is where is.  No rush to move it, but if you need more than 30 days please let me know and we can work something out.  Deposit due within 48 hours, remainder due in 7 days.  No payment plans.  Truck is located in Stevensville, MT  59870.  I hear uship.com has good shipping rates.

Thanks for checking out this cool old truck!

40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.

High-performance 2018 Dodge Durango SRT spied

Fri, Sep 9 2016

Dodge is working diligently on revamping its lineup with new and refreshed models, including the high-performance Durango SRT due in 2017. Spy shooters captured a Durango with an aggressive front end that appears to fit the SRT bill, though it could just be a refreshed Durango. This Citadel-badged prototype is nearly identical to the current three-row SUV. The front fascia, which is being held in place by tape and has numerous rough edges, features a massive vent at the bottom and a distinct, three-holed air intake system just below the grille. The grille is also lacking the Durango's cross-like design. The front end appears to have gaping holes on both sides, with the right side being covered up by tin foil. The extra vents could be there for aerodynamic purposes, for cooling purposes, or just a pair of fog lights that Dodge doesn't want people to see. The high-performance SUV is expected to get a full makeover on the outside, which includes sportier wheels, a more aggressive hood, athletic body panels, and some aerodynamic components. The meat of the SUV, the engine, is still a mystery. While the Hellcat brothers feature a 707-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged V8, a previous report by Automotive News claims the upcoming Durango SRT will be powered by a 6.4-liter V8 engine. The 475-horsepower motor is currently in the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. Regardless of what type of engine the Durango will have, it looks like Dodge really is working on a high-performance SUV to enter the continually-growing segment. 2022 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Challenger, Charger recalled for faulty TPMS sensors

Mon, Jul 25 2022

Stellantis is recalling some of its longest-running models to address a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor defect that may be erroneously indicating a low-pressure condition — 52,340 cars shipped with sensors built with batteries that may fail prematurely, triggering a TPMS light when there is no actual safety threat.  A TPMS light that remains constantly illuminated is not only annoying but it could also mask a real tire pressure loss, which is a safety hazard. Stellantis says the production range for potentially impacted models runs from September 7, 2021 to June 9, 2022, indicating it took some time for issues to crop up in the wild, so just because no issue has crept up yet, doesn't mean it won't later on.  Notices have begun circulating to dealers and should be sent to owners by early September. In the meantime, owners should verify any tire pressure warnings independently before driving their vehicles.  Related video: This content is hosted by a third party.
